Road Warriors

[9.0] "Whether you know them as the Legion of Doom or the Road Warriors, Hawk & Animal are arguably the most famous tag team in the history of wrestling. Never the most technical pair out there, they were loud, they were in your face, and brought in a metric ton of intensity and brutality that made them must-see in their prime. While their no selling gimmick got old by the late 90s, can't deny how great they were to see on any given night in the 80s and early 90s."

[9.0] "9/10 from me, Accomplishments - 10, Charisma/Character Work - 10, In-Ring Chemistry - 8.5, Longevity - 10 and Move-Set - 9 = 94. rounded down to 9/10. Very close to getting that 10."

[8.0] "Everything that can be said about them has been repeated ad nauseam for the last 30 years or so. The only reason I subtract points is for their only faults in staying around too long to a point when they started becoming a parody and their habit of no selling opponents. There is a thing as looking "too powerful" to a point where it becomes boring."

[10.0] "10 is the ONLY rating to give the greatest Tag Team of all time (and yes, even better than the Dudley Boyz, with all due respect.) They transformed tag team wrestling into what it is today."

[10.0] "The only rating here for the Road Warriors is a 10. They changed the sport. Incredble athletes and not only were they super fun to root for, you truly believed that they were "animals". Absolute legends and my memories of them are very secure! The first tag team that really made pro wrestling jump to life in my child eyes."

[10.0] "When I was a kid, these ass kickers were so damn cool. I first saw them in Jim Crockett Promotions, where they were feuding with The Four Horsemen. They were the epitome of rough and tumble wrestlers who just mowed down their opponent, kind like a tag team Goldberg. But then they finally went to the WWF and feuded with discount Demolition (Crush, ugh) before beating the Nasty Boys for the titles, making them the first team to win the AWA, NWA, and WWF tag team titles, which was a big deal at the time. So many great memories from this team. RIP, guys."

[10.0] "Perhaps the most iconic tag team in the history of wrestling. Even before I became a wrestling fan as a kid, I knew of the badass dudes who wore the spiked shoulder pads. They were legitimate tough guys & brought an aura to the ring that could never be matched."

[10.0] "An influential tag team that became the blueprint of a genre of tag team (ironically dubbed as the road warriors). Road Warriors had an amazing look and a killer finish."

[9.0] "Great tag team. I think they had one of the best looks in pro wrestling at the time. Two larger men who could still move and wrestled well. They had charisma for days and although Ellering is best doing their promos as their manager they did well enough on their own. Hawk's addiction problem was the biggest issue for the pair with getting over with crowds."

"One of if not the most electric tag team of all time. Pure adrenaline and ring skill to match, never a bad match when the road warriors are in town."

[10.0] "If you only look at their matchguide, there are probably some better tag teams, but thinking that this is important when we talk about the Road Warriors is nonsense, those guys completely changed the game, so unique for their time, it's impossible not to notice their presence, those guys looked unbeatable, so dominant and imposing, perfect for their time. I love everything about them, the theme songs (specially Iron Man, by Black Sabbath), the look, the face paint, the finisher, the stiffness and power moves, they looked like the most dominant thing in the world, and became a standard for every other subsequent tag team."

[8.0] "We all know their in ring work was not the best but with these two that didnt really matter. In your face power, over the top old school pants and awesome ring gear. They really were THE team and everyones favourites when I was growing up. And of course inventors of the Road Warrior pop."

[10.0] "The archetypal power team. Initially getting over on look and athleticism (with Paul Ellering's promo skills), they evolved into a well-rounded duo who could perform at a high level in all facets of the sport. Immensely popular and spawning countless imitators (including highly successful performers like Sting), the Warriors are the default option for greatest tag team of all time."

[10.0] "One of the all-time best. Could definitely make the case for all-time top ten without a doubt. Amazing talent."

[9.0] "The epitome of the "bigger than the sum of their parts" rule. Individually both Animal and Hawk are just decent but as a team they managed to establish themselves as one of the all-time greats."

[10.0] "The greatest tag team of all time, in my opinion. The total package when it came to tag team wrestling. They had the size, the body builder like looks, the cool hair cuts, the unique face paint, the cool catch phrases, and the bad ass entrance music. They were attractions everywhere they went. They were on a ton of marquees. They sold a ton of tickets. They made a ton of money. They won tag team championships all over the world on multiple occasions. They had everyone's eyes glued to the television sets when they were on the screen because they showed up, they ran guys over, mauled them, beat them up, and finished them off, and it was on to the next. Definite game changers."

[10.0] "Were they the best "workers"? No. And nobody would ever dispute that, but wrestling isn't about being able to work. There's many enhancement guys who were phenomenal workers yet they never moved up the card. There's a lot of other intangibles that gets wrestlers over. Working the stick with killer promos, psychology, working the crowd, etc. A lot of things wrestlers can control or improve with experience over a period of time. The Road Warriors had important things that can't be taught given. Charisma, a presence, the x-factor. In short, they simply had IT. And IT basically overtakes everything else. When they came into the scene, they were built, they had a tremendous look, and most importantly, they were unique, and this uniqueness came at a time that stood out amongst everybody else, so essentially, they were first in what they did, and there can never be another "first". And then on top of that, the most important thing, really, in the industry, is that they were100% BELIEVABLE. All of that is my reasoning for a 10 rating. Even almost 40 years after they initially debuted, they're still talked about in awe. That's saying something. RIP Hawk and Animal"

[10.0] "A legendary team. Neither Hawk or Animal were technical experts in the ring, but they managed to carry themselves well with immense aura and big-time intensity. Sure, their legacy was tarnished as the later years came by and they had their fair share of downs, but I don't think that's still enough to pull any point down from them. The term 'Road Warriors Pop' couldn't get any better when defining these guys' popularity, especially back in the late 80s. OHH WHAT A RUSH!"

[8.0] "A childhood favorite that lost it's luster early thanks to a great number of elements. Absolutely L O V E D their run up to the first entry into McMahonLand. Well, aside from Jim Herd era moans n groans ... and their "heel turn" was DREADFUL & only amounted to a Midnight Express burial that did NOT need to happen. Any who, they had insanely over the top chemistry with The Four Horsemen. The Varsity Club and (usually) The Midnight Express; Ivan Koloff also seemed to help bring out the best in them. The one thing about The Road Warriors is how cathartic they were for fans at the time - at house shows the pops they would get legitimately hurt your ears for the next 12-24 hours: literally deafening roars in unanimous approval and unbridled adoration. Unfortunately the WWF runs were mired by abominations such as a needless Demolition cold blooded murder and burial (BOOOO! ), Rocco (HSSSS! ) and the Hawk is off the wagon stuff (ugh, just horribly putrid and senseless! ). The reunion material outside of the WWF is hit or miss and varies from show to show, some is pretty good! Lots of points deducted for their terrible (in my estimation) WWF runs & for far too many double count out/double disqualification match endings as well as sometimes just flat out NOT delivering. pre initial WWF is highly recommended, post/beyond is mildly recommended."

[10.0] "Greatest tag team in the history of professional wrestling. They would main event shows and draw the houses back in their prime."

[8.0] "These boys should get a high score for being intimidating as hell alone. Aggressive and scary and always able to follow up their words with a solid beating. They were a bit before my time, but still lingered around for a few years, and I honestly didn't feel like they were in their twilight years or on a downward turn at any point."

[9.0] "One of the best tag teams of all time. Just two tough guys in facepaint that are going to kill you. The amount of teams that tried to copy them afterwards shows how successful they were."

[6.0] "The Road Warriors were a good, but not great, tag team. While they had a lot of charisma, and were great 'power wrestlers', they couldn't really work a proper match. Their promos and interviews, while somewhat good, were also pretty repetitive. Exciting the first time you heard one, but they started tog et old pretty fast. Still, you have to give them props for achieving what they did."

[9.0] "Their matches weren't always amazing but this is one of those cases where even I am willing to look past that for just how iconic and influential the Road Warriors were."

[10.0] "Despite their not always too well match quality, Animal and Hawk are the most legendary tag team in the history of the sport, IMO. They dominated everywhere they performed and revolutionized the tag team division."

[8.0] "The Road Warriors were definitely an iconic and influential tag team, and major draws during their peak. But they did their fair share of damage, albeit sometimes inadvertently, to promotions they were in, so I can't give them a 10."

[10.0] "Up there with the greatest tag teams of all time. Two dominant big men with an awesome gimmick that just kicked ass. One of the best and most well protected tag team finishers in the history of the business."

[10.0] "In one word, BADASS! When you heard "OH WHAT A RUSH! " (or Iron Man), you knew shit was gonna go down. Immensely successful wherever they went and revolutionized tag team wrestling."

[10.0] "Iconic team that simply exudes charisma and intensity. In some ways they are simple power wrestlers, but the presentation is absolutely perfect and both guys were very talented in their specific vein. They are legends for a reason, and a one of the biggest draws of their era."

The intensity of their ring entry, the costumes, face paint, overall size and high impact moves were unlike anything ever seen to date. They will remain the industry standard for which all tag teams will be measured against."

Their look, intensity and overbearing power created a mystique and presence all their own. They had one of the best and most-dangerous-looking tag finishers, the Doomsday Device. Many great matches and memories of Hawk and Animal from multiple organizations (WWF, WCW, AWA, etc. )."
