[3.0] "I hated it all. My rating is only for the talent that both had but I HATED it all. The all thing was weird. AEW had a one of a kind tournament in the "Blind Tag Tournament", this was such a great idea, a REALLY great idea and a great and innovative way to put 2 randoms together and have a reason for them to be togetherand all. But it only served to purpose of MJF and Adam Cole together, they didn't need this, Adam had a reason to manipulate him already, the AEW World Championship, and the whole reveal of the Devil literally ruined this part of their history. They have no tag team chemistry (and it pains me to say that cause Adam Cole is one of my all time fav and I always thought that he was incredible in tag team bouts... But this sucked. Their ROH Tag team title victory was knida cool even tho the match wasn't great. MJF single handely ruining the AEW career of Dutch and Vincent and burying them was foolish and ridiculous, MJF didn't need that. They had 6 matches together and only 2 of them are good (Their match against FTR is really cool but lacked chemistry, and the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament finals is a cool match but makes no sense (several botches, and their opponent are the Jericho Appreciation Society and not a fcking blind tag team ? makes no sense at all)) I Love Adam, I like MJF but this was a really bad and transitional tag team that I deeply hated I loved more than anything what they had in the year following this tho, the Paragon and MJF's International title reign were awesome"
[7.0] "Great tag-team, amazing idea, what if big heel became friends with big face? The idea was there, and it was perfect. MJF and Adam Cole, 2 people who hated eachothers guts, were now friends. The worst part was the ending. They tried to mix UE and Kingdom, and it did not work at all. Also having MJF be the face when he is only good as a face when he can have someone else assist him in being a face is a stupid idea. It should have been MJF betraying Adam Cole, such that MJF gets even more heat from the audience. God they could have made this so good."
[0.0] "They only had 6 matches, including 3 against literally random one-off teams and one against the Dark Order, in other words only two matches against anybody worth a shit. But they don't have a 9+ rating here for the matches. No, it's the promos that got these two over, and man... I just don't get it. The whole thing felt like what I imagine watching a 12-year-old's YouTube page is like. Painfully unfunny, tryhard cringe cornball nonsense. Haha, our finish is INNOCUOUS MOVE! We're wrestling an Australian tag team so I'm gonna pretend to be a KANGAROO MATE! This ain't it, chief. I love ironically bad comedy but this was unironically cringe garbage. It's not unfunny, it's anti-funny. Worst thing is this is how the *world champ* spent like half a year, including having IMO the worst main event in AEW PPV history at what will likely be their biggest show they'll ever have. And then the cherry on top is Cole getting injured and the wet fart of the Devil storyline. I really don't get it, sorry. Individually Cole and Max are great but this team absolutely does not deserve to be in the top 50 tag teams of all time. I wouldn't put them in the top 250. EDIT: Almost exactly one year later and with the hindsight of those last twelve months I'm dropping this team down from a 2 to a 0, because of everything (or rather, nothing) that came about after their split. Tony Khan finally, mercifully realized that babyface MJF is literal dogshit, so he turned MJF, except, oopsie, Adam Cole is supposed to be the heel, right? Nah let's just turn him face once his porcelain body has finally healed so they can keep beefing. Except, oh yeah, babyface Adam Cole also fucking sucks. Cole's reasoning (as a babyface) for his actions (as a heel) was just... bad. It was all just so awful, patronizing, boring, and stupid. Nothing good came out of this tag team. Nothing. Unless you're a literal baby who thinks kangaroo impersonations are the apex of professional wrestling storytelling."
[5.0] "It was a pretty short lived tag team with only one actually stand out match and it led to the worst programme in company history that AEW are still having to work at to get the stink off them. It wasn't a bad team but would anyone really remember them if it was not for what happened after?"
[4.0] "They have one great tag team match together against FTR and nothing else really, their ROH Tag Team Title run was poor and while ROH was no longer what it was, they had great Tag Team Champions during the TK era up until Better Than You Bay Bay, then they dropped down, from being an after thought (like I love the OGK, but their Title win was shit). So yeah, a largely bad team that devalued ROH. Not a top 100 tag team, thats for sure."
[8.0] "Always thought these 2 were really fun together as a tag team. I mean they had crowds on their feet cheering for a double clothesline. Incredibly fun stint for a while in aew before the story got a bit stale thats why I have to bring the rating down a bit."
[8.0] "These two were super fun as a tag, Cole and MJF story together was my favorite thing about AEW in 2023, everything was going really well, the chemistry was great, they main evented the first All In London, the story had depth, but unfortunately after Adam Cole's injury everything went down, and we had the infamous Devil storyline, one of the worst things that AEW has ever done. Better Than You Bay Bay was super short-lived, they only had 6 matches, but it was fun as hell, it was those things that weren't planned, but the chemistry was there, the fans were loving it, and they became best friends. If this lasted longer the rating would've probably been higher, because their stuff was really enjoyable."
[7.0] "A fun tag team but that's about it. Some of the moves they tried getting over weren't great. Did more harm than good to the tag team division. Still had some good moments and were kinda funny at times. Two good wrestlers, but after Cole's injury it went down hill very quickly."
[8.0] "When this was first announced, like many, I thought it was just to further progress the idea of Adam Cole and MJF being polar opposites that will cement a great rivalry in AEWs short history. Then..that didnt happen? Quite the opposite happened? I expected this tag team to be a nothing burger that would lead to one or two more matches that would tear the house down between these fantastic talents. Instead, they made one of AEWs best tag teams out of such a small pairing. The promos were genuinely funny, the connection the two had not only with each other but the fans felt natural. It was a great moment in a fun summer for the company. Say what you want about their main event at All In last year. Personally, it wasnt my cup of tea, but they still managed to pull the emotional weight of an entire card on their back in one match. They were that PPV last year. They main evented one of, if not the biggest show in professional wrestling history off the prospect of what SHOULD HAVE been a feud enhancer. Despite the tag team being fun and so great, it was ultimately a feud killer. If they had a proper end to their tag team, and also their feud, this would be a 9. However due to the unfortunate circumstances that are not the faults of the competitors rather the lousy and almost disrespectful booking revolving around not only MJFs face turn, but the devil storyline. I must say it is an 8. That does not negate the fact that these two turned nothing into one of the most enjoyable runs of a tag team that I have ever seen, and most certainly of the 21st century. They really deserved better."
[9.0] "They made me start watching AEW. When they split up, I stopped watching AEW because of their horrendous booking with the devil storyline. both MJF and Adam being sidelined for a long time didn't help either and I can see why I wasn't they only one that hasn't tuned in since Worlds End. When they were scheduled for a show, everyone knew they would be the best thing on the card regardless if anyone else was there. Hell the Rock could appear and probably would be close with this tag team in highlights of the show. But now they are split IP and are being wasted in useless feuds and very sub par matches, for MJF. Adam Cole is just MVP for the Kingdom now."
[9.0] "Ignoring all the Devil bullshit at the end of all this, this was genuinely my favorite tag team of the year. The storyline was fantastic, the character development of MJF was great, and the overall chemistry was top notch. A bright spot of 2023."
[5.0] "Its a fun team from what weve seen of them and they have chemistry but thats about it. If I see a MJF and Cole tag match I dont get excited about it at all or go into the match with any sort of great expectation which is something a lot of top level team pairings usually have."
[3.0] "Okay. Im gonna be the odd one out here. This shouldve been a brief little thing between the two that shouldve already ended by All In or All Out. MJF was a white hot heel having beaten Bryan in the Iron Man, weaselling his way to victory in the 4 way, and cowering from Cole instead of doing the extra 5 mins. Why sacrifice your top heel for a goofy odd ball tag team story? I know that eventually Max will turn on Cole, but its just been dragged out for so long at the expense of credibility to both MJF and the world title. All my grips aside, theyve done the following that I have to commend them for, theyve gotten a double clothesline over as a finish, a jumping kangaroo kick over, and have allowed Max to show more development as a character and add to the MJF lore. But in adding to the lore that is MJFs character, theyve also sacrificed their top heel for the time being, which isnt okay. This really should end soon, but I know it wont. So I may as well buckle in and prepare to be patient. UPDATE: Well, I guess in hindsight Adam turning heel was the more likely possibility, but I stand by most of my original comment. BTYBB did nothing for MJF other than cool him off so badly that AEW spent the last 5 months of his title reign just spinning their wheels with no top heel in the company until the big turn came. Just a colossal waste of time for everyone and a detriment to MJFs character."
[10.0] "I literally love Better Than You Bay Bay so much. They're my favorite tag team right now. Well, they were before Adam unfortunately got injured. Now MJF has to do everything on his own which sucks but it's fine because MJF is holding down the fort for them. I can't wait for Adam to return to either keep their tag team going or break them up and let Adam take the world title from Max. Either way I'll be happy."
[7.0] "A very fun combination of the Odd Couple variety. Their skits are very funny, and they make all kinds of wacky stuff get over with the crowd. The pairing, in essence, made Adam Cole relevant again. The team has had less than 10 matches, only one of which (vs FTR) is actually a great in ring performance. That's fine, as match quality was never the reason this team would be entertaining. But now Adam Cole is injured and MJF is dragging along the ROH tag titles by himself, which I'm not at all a fan of. If they put on some bangers before the team's inevitable collapse, I might go higher."
[10.0] "Incredibly charismatic, I can't believe how well they work together. They're usually a humorous duo with segments and sequences just to get us a few laughs, but they've also shown that they can make an amazing drama for TV. By AEW's current standards, these guys are the best thing that has happened to the company"
[10.0] "This is genuinely the best thing Adam Cole has been a part of in over half a decade or longer. I'm not a Cole fan but I'd be really bitter to not love how they've handled this team. MJF & Cole have a ton of chemistry, and both have that cool heel vibe that translated perfectly to a face team. More importantly, it's MJF at his absolute best as a character, moving from fake face to real face in real time. Their matches aren't mat classics but they're barn burners in terms of crowd reaction. This team is lightning in a bottle that's made me care about what Adam Cole is doing for the first time since his ROH Title feud with Daniels."
[9.0] "Like smokestack mentioned before me. These guys got the most basic of wrestling moves over, they got a double clothesline, a kick and a suicide dive over. Hell you could even say that they got a bodyslam over due to their match with Big Bill and Brian Cage. A great tag team that provided us with some of the most compelling story telling in AEW and in Wrestling as a whole with their all in main event. All I have to say is that AEW struck gold with this team."
[9.0] "Two absolute masters of wrestling psychology, because they way they've convinced millions of people that a simple "forced tag partners" story is the most important story in wrestling is amazing. They got a common suicide dive over, a front dropkick, and a double clothesline. To me that's the measure of a great talent, if you can work the easiest things with the most amount of detail and care."
[8.0] "To say they are a unique tag team would be an understatement, theyre on the same level as RK-Bro when it comes to odd-couple tag teams in recent memory. Their psychology is insane, as they have been able to make a simple double clothesline one of the most popular moves in wrestling simply by hyping it up. Their in-ring work is good, but their out-of-ring stuff is where they truly shine and are usually one of the best parts of wrestling that week. I know its inevitably going to all come crashing down, but in the meanwhile, theyre a fun team to watch and very enjoyable."
