[6.0] "A little surprised by the super high rating. It was cool to see an American company run a more Japanese-style round robin, and I can't deny that there were some good matches, but most of them were around the 3 to 3.5 star range. It was certainly a tournament of consistently good matches, but it's also a tournament lacking a real, genuine classic. A 6 or 7 is the right place to put this."
[10.0] "One of my all time favorite tournaments full of fantastic matches and the best possible winner. The Gold League had Moxley, Jay White, and Swerve leading throughout the semi finals, and all The Blue League members had absolute fantastic matches. Danielson had an amazing line-up of matches leading all the way up to the semi-finals where he put on a top 10 Dynamite match against Kingston. Eddie was easily the best option to have win and pairing him with Moxley in the finals was amazing. Kingston got the much deserved win and won his Triple Crown. Overall an amazing tournament."
[8.0] "I thought this was an amazing tournament with some incredible talent putting on amazing matches. While I don't think it comes anywhere close to the likes of the G1 Climax or N1 Victory or other major tournaments around the world, it was still a great showcase of wrestling. I wish that they made it a little bit bigger just so that there were more amazing talent getting chances and putting on bangers on every weekly show, but it was great for what it was. Even if at the time, it was confusing when it was announced about how it would work."
[10.0] "The inaugural Continental Classic was awesome, one of the best things AEW has ever done, this tournament absolutely carried AEW TV at the end of 2023, it was refreshing, the product wasn't perfect and many bad storylines were going on, but the C2 never let us down, I always got super hyped before an episode to watch the matches, and the entire thing was just super enjoyable, only good wrestlers, some guys having breakout performances, I think this absolutely extracted everyone's best version. The tournament kept growing and there isn't a single bad match, some matches were disappointing or below average, but none was really bad, the consistency was awesome, and the semifinals/final were completely amazing, ending the whole thing on a high note."
[9.0] "Highlight of AEW in the second half of 2023. Almost every match I saw in this tournament rocked. Had a lot of great talent and good stories being told during the match. Proved that AEW problem isn't the talent its the people in charge."
[9.0] "This was a pretty fun round robin. Everyone in this tournament was showcased well, especially Swerve and Bryan, and it helped some underutilized talent like Andrade, Brody and Rush get some much needed TV time. Garcia and Lethal served their purposes, which was basically to make sure everyone else got a win."
[6.0] "Quite good of what I saw, but not as good as it should have been and is far too overrated on the site. I thought the main event underdelivered as well, so that really hurt it. Still, Danielson loolked great in this and it also had Rush getting put on tv more so thats good. However the title is a poor addition, and was to give Eddie Kingston a Triple Crown, which is not nearly the same as the real one."
[8.0] "The tournament itself was, for the most part, excellent. However, a couple of major criticisms: 1. Having THREE such obvious pin eaters, with one singular upset win, was disappointing. 2. Adding another midcard belt, wrapped up with two other mediocre belts, was a terrible idea and confused the identity of the Continental Championship right off the bat. The tournament should be structured upon the prestige of winning, NOT around winning a belt, with perhaps some type of yearly perk or title shot for the winner."
[8.0] "Overall not a bad tournament. I dont think I rated any of these matches below a 6. Picked up in stakes and match quality towards the end with the happy outcome that everyone wanted. The booking should have been a bit more balanced though as it seemed there was about 10 heels and two baby faces in the tournament which led to a number of heel vs heel clashes, sometimes two a show, and I found this very confusing."
[10.0] "A round-robin tournament was badly missing in mainstream American pro-wrestling. Every match was at least 3.5*, we had lots of bangers, the league finals and tournament final slapped, everybody had a story in it. And... Eddie. Fucking. Kingston."
[10.0] "The best tournament in North America pro wrestling's history. Aew's version of the G1 was a total hit: there were lots of great wrestlers and therefore lots of high profile match-ups. The quality of the matches was amazing, especially in the Blue League. The storytelling was also top notch with Eddie Kingston's comeback and Daniel Garcaia's redemption arc being two of the best stories of the year. The best match, for me, was Danielson vs. Kingston in the semifinal. And the MVP of the tournament was Bryan Danielson. The final saw Eddie Kingston became a triple crown champion just like all of his heroes in what was the best possible. The tournament also gave people like Brody King or Mark Briscoe the chance to let all of their talent shine bright. Can't wait for the tournament to comeback next year."
[9.0] "I have always dreamed of a G1-style tournament made on the big stage in America. My biggest fear was, that with all of the matches being performed on TV, their quality would be average as a result, but I was wrong. Every single wrestler in the tournament for their every single match wrestled their best. Besides maybe one match (RUSH vs Lethal), every bout was at least good, with many being amazing, not only in terms of pure wrestling, but also bringing some story to their characters. Gold League Block was full with star power and it resulted in three of the wrestlers having a tiebreaker for the semi-finale, effectively making all three of them coming out looking strong: White was receiving his much needed victories after a lackluster match vs MJF and Swerve became even more over. Blue League block was filled with amazing in-ring performers, collecting a lot of wrestlers who are generally considered underrated by a lot of people and giving them a platform to shine. While it happened to be one of the last things for Andrade in the company, he had one of the best runs in AEW he had this far. Brodie King felt like a monster and was looking to dominate the group at the start. Garcia played an amazing underdog story. One of the downsides of the tournament was probably the predictability of the winner. While at the start, I didn't expect them to give Eddie the win, as I thought It would be too obvious, it turned out to work in the end. I still, personally, would've loved to see White vs Danielson in the finale, but I understand why not, as Danielson needed time to prepare for match vs Okada at WK and Eddie/Mox already had a good history behind them. In the end, with Eddie becoming the "First Modern Triple Crown Champion of the US", I can say the tournament was a huge success. It elevated people, gave us good in-ring stories and of course, great wrestling. I hope this will continue on in terms of quality next year, and also improve on some things, like having a more grand presentation for a finale."
[10.0] "This was AEW's best tournament by a mile. The G1-style Continental Classic was a real winner and every wrestler in it benefitted from the exposure, the quality of the matches and even the booking. I am looking forward to next year and hope that they can keep this tournament pure."
