[6.0] "The opener is fun with a silly stipulation, but enough hardcore bump to satisfy the crowd. Drake/Rory showed real intensity, with meaning behind the attacks and a nicely constructed match that stood onto itself, not only as a part of a tournament. Masada/Summer was good enough, but the lack of intrigue was damning. Tremont/Kobayashi is a marquee match, sending the crowd into a frenzy as the two charismatic bulls ram into another until one falls for good. Not pretty, but certainly entertaining. Drake/Havoc was frankly tame and had little interest to it, feeling pretty stale, and when the bigger spots appeared at the end, it felt quite desperate and artificial. Masada/Kobayashi felt like the biggest missed opportunity two years ago, and here it is today. The brawling around probably would have been more efficient it it had stayed confined to the ring, but after that relatively standard hardcore stuff, they used extreme sadistic warfare innovations, pushing the boundaries of the genre to their absolute tasteful limits. This is not my cup of tea, but it really is the true purpose of such tournaments and you cannot deny their audacity wasn't engrossing. Without any more buffer, the Finals came, opposing two deathmatch icons and actual top CZW Champions in Drake Younger and Masada. After the fakeout forfeit that was a blatant ploy to stall for time, the match finally started and they went on to have a match that may have pleased the crowd, but that I found slow and aimless with bigger spots falling flat and an ending that, while well-executed, was obviously recycled. Frankly good Annual Deathmatch Tournament, but with enough annoying flaws to keep it at a steady quality and nothing more memorable, missing the next level by a small margin."
