[10.0] "It was a very good tournament. High quality matches, with interesting storylines being told during the matches and a strong booking leading into the main event. Maybe the only different thing that I'd have done was letting John Walters advance to the second round as he was the hometown boy and has been putting strong performances lately. He should have defeated Stryker or Josh Daniels. Another weird thing was only having the Pure Rules at the final. I think they should have been on every match in this tournament. But anyway let's talk about the matches. Punk vs Walters was one of the strongest matches on the card. Punk showing his heel persona dressed as Christopher Daniels was great. Then, Doug Williams showed his amazing offense defeating Chris Sabin. Is so fun to watch him wrestle and working over Sabin's neck. Stryker defeats Josh Daniels in the worst match on the tournament. It wasn't bad, just average. And then AJ defeated Jimmy Rave, in what was Rave's best match in ROH so far. I loved how Rave saw the opportunity with AJ hurting his knee and attacking it. It gives him more edge and a more interesting character that will continue developing in coming shows. Moving to the semis, CM Punk defeated Doug Williams after injuring his leg. Williams selling was awesome as he couldn't even stand, but somehow he was able to hit a final Chaos Theory, but on the bridge his knee gives out and both shoulders get to the mat, while Punk is able to get his up pinning Williams. That ending was so clever and original that I loved it. In the other semi, AJ defeated Matt Stryker. It was another solid encounter. I liked Stryker's performance a lot here, because he showed some personality and played well his plan, working over AJ's injured knee with many interesting moves to build for his submission finisher. I think in that sense this might be one of his best performances I've seen. And maybe for the first time, it's AJ the one to "blame". And that's because I think his selling was a bit inconsistent, as at some points he couldn't even walk or run, but moments after he could hit a discus leg lariot, a german suplex or that springboard 450 to win the match. And I liked how they teased the storyline of Punk having beaten Williams by hurting the leg and AJ as the underdog with his leg injured. Sadly, on the final it didn't matter, as it wasn't a factor that affected the outcome. At some points it seemed they were more focused on showing the Pure Rules, than wrestling the match itself, which was in detriment of the quality or what could have been. And that's because they spend so much time working over the rules. And it didn't have sense that on the first ever pure title match, they decided to book all this bad decisions by the referee, specially with Punk's rope breaks all being controversial. That kind of things should be done when the rules have been stablished, not on the first time. But even if those things annoyed me a bit, I think it was a good ending for the tournament and that gives Punk lots of material to work for the future, specially with his foot landing on the ropes on the final Styles Clash that ended the match. But even with that, it's a great tournament. 7 good matches with storyline developments and great performances by every wrestler in it."
