While he has not had the singles success his brother has had, he still built a good career. He did it without the same strong support of the company that Jeff had."

Proof that mic skills is not everything, Matt had one big leg up on his brother and that was his mic work and his ideas for characters. The guru character he played on SmackDown in 2003 and his TNA run as broken Matt Hardy just shows how inventive Matt was and how he could take pro wrestling into new unexplored areas. The man was doing cinematic matches before they became a necessity. A true innovator of pro wrestling."

I do notice how in his post-2nd TNA run he's moved really stiff due to his back troubles, but his talent in story telling has carried him through that disability (though I do hope he retires before he kills himself honestly, he does take some super unnecessary risks at times). He's my 4th favorite men's wrestler of all time, and was my favorite man for probably over 13 years, and I'm not ashamed to admit that."

While he isn't even nearly as good as his brother in ring, he is still a real daredevil and would regular so moves that others wouldn't even dream of. It's sad that today his body has more or less given up on trying to stay healthy and he just can't go anymore."

[8.0] "Matt is very good, although his agility is not greater than that of his brother Jeff, for me he is still better, there has always been talk about him being half of Hardy Boyz but little is said about how incredible he is, apart from Jeff, he was very good in the Cruiserweight Division when "it met the necessary weight", in ECW (WWE) it was almost the same, but this time with less relevance because ECW was less important than SmackDown or Raw. The other important point is his Broken stage in WWE, I loved it, everything was perfect, his clothing, his story with Bray, his madness. Before that moment I did not know that Broken Matt existed before, but I must clarify that this opinion is based solely on his time in WWE and AEW, in AEW it will pain me to say it but they (him and Jeff, but more Jeff) were sad, the time He does not forgive and it is clear that it was difficult for them, they looked old, slow and rough, it did not favor them to compete with people younger than them (but it was also difficult to find wrestlers as finished as them). Matt should finish his career individually, because he has more potential than Jeff but less recognition."

[7.0] "Decent enough wrestler in his early career, has a pretty fun catalogue of matches during the attitude era, but not exactly a great wrestler in ring or a technician. What makes him better than satisfactory is his reinvention and his contributions to cinematic wrestling, and he deserves a ton of credit for that. Few fun characters, few fun different versions, and someone who gets the nostalgia pop because of that hard work and the ways he's put his body on the line"

[4.0] "The Hardys were really cool, I very much enjoyed his feuds with Edge and MVP (regardless of how silly it got at times) but everything after that ranged from meh to garbage. The first cinematic match was kinda funny but everything afterwards from that broken character was detrimental to the business, he flopped hard in AEW and survived by being a parasite living in the ears of others. He spent more years of his major television career as an immobile wrestler more than he did as a mobile one."

[6.0] "Matt Hardy as a singles wrestler just never did it for me. He was fantastic alongside Jeff as the Hardy Boyz, but once that ended I just felt his career stagnated. I did enjoy some of his singles stuff in WWE, Matt Hardy 2.0 was great for a while, and he was on fire when he returned after the whole Edge/Lita fiasco. Did some fun stuff with MVP in 2007 and had a decent run in ECW after that. His first TNA run was diabolical. I understand that around this time his personal life wasn't great, so I can't really fully shit on that era of Matt Hardy. Did a complete 180 and turned his career around with "Woken" Matt Hardy. Was absolutely fantastic for a while, biggest mistake they could've made was going to WWE after that as he just became Matt Hardy again, until eventually becoming "Woken" Matt Hardy a little while later. His return to WWE a few years back was pretty underwhelming, didn't really enjoy his tag team with Wyatt either. Has slowed down a lot, and his AEW run has suffered because of it. His body is hanging on by a thread, which is extremely sad. Doesn't seem to know when to hang up the boots, as he's still going on now despite how badly beaten his body is. Overall, Matt Hardy is an average wrestler who found great success as a member of the Hardy Boyz with his brother Jeff, and then found some success after that when reimagining his character as "Woken"."

[5.0] "His early career on WWE was quite entertaining, but his work lost its shine with time. To me, he has not been a highlight in a long time. Yes, his broken gimmick across TNA, WWE and AEW rescued him in my eyes, but as fun as that was, his in-ring work is still low in quality."

[5.0] "Matt in his prime was always quite good, while still the worst of his pairing, he was always around that 7-8 range as I really did enjoy him quite a lot growing up, but it feels as time goes on and as he continues getting worse and worse, my view of him continues to slip with it, one of those guys where if he hung it up years ago he'd be much higher but he's one of the faces of "overstaying their welcome" at this point, honestly hurts a bit to rate him a 5 because again he was great once upon a time, but father time waits for nobody and he really just doesn't have it anymore, and that's soiled him quite a lot for me, so while his old work still keeps him in the middle ground overall ratings wise, it stings a bit to do this... 5/10."

[8.0] "Matt Hardy has some of the best qualities of his brother with only a fraction of the baggage. He also provides a genuinely creative and alternative style of wrestling that many have tried and failed to replicate. he wasn't quite a good fit for WWE a lot of time but his work in TNA as "Broken Matt Hardy" will go down as one of the most memorable runs in wrestling."

"Matt Hardy has instantly made TNA a better place since his comeback. I wasn't expecting much from him after his last run, but his current run has been very enjoyable and is one of if not my favorite part of TNA."

[8.0] "Super entertaining during his WWE run, his work was always good. He was great as both a heel and face and Matt Hardy version 1 was some of the best character work of the Ruthless Aggression era. Can't forget to mention that he was part of one of the greatest tag teams ever. Great in-ring worker too. Haven't been a fan of his recent stuff which docks him a point or two."

[8.0] "For me Matt Hardy is one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time. A solid and versatile hand in the ring capable of having good matches with anyone and able to fit anywhere on the card. For me he is the better half of the Hardy Boyz one of the most successful and legendary tag teams of their if not all time. Brilliant character worker with various gimmicks across his career be it 2.0 or Broken/Woken or whatever it may be he is given at the time. I wish his time with AEW had seen him used better personally. 4 stars of 5."

Having won the ECW title (yes I know its the WWE version), Cruiserweight title, and the European title. I think his career has been played out and has done everything he can do."

[6.0] "Matt Hardy was a great tag team performer and had some ideas that really elevated his stock in the business. As a fan I really enjoyed his work as a tag team guy however his singles work can be spotty at times. If he could really go out on his own accord with his character then he could draw folks to watch him and his programs but when it came to live action one on one matches, he wasn't the greatest especially later in his career. Now if he can do gimmick matches then he could get himself over more and wow the crowds."

[7.0] "A tough wrestler to rate individually. Matt is a flawed combination of his brother Jeff and Chris Jericho. Matt has Jericho's wonderful ability to be able to re-invent himself over and over again, but also has a problem letting characters go once they've turned stale. He's acceptable in the ring, but he's not an artist like his brother. Never seems to be out of character, which can lead to unfortunate moments like posting fake suicide notes on socials. I'll be forever grateful for his WWE time from 1999-2003 and The Final Deletion, but at the same time there have been more than a few moments I've wished he would just go away."

[10.0] "Original Comment: Even when Matt Hardy is a Fat Elvis version of himself, I still rather like that Fat Elvis. Don't make me say much more, the guy is just fun to watch - even at his worst....at his best though, WOW! extra great. EDIT: Ok kids, I confess: I haven't watched wrestling since some of you were toddlers and that's weird but correct, so I can only actually speak for his material up until I think WWECW-ish. The Mattitude V1 introduction with the "Matt Facts" is legit, one of my favorite things in the history of wrestling. If I live long enough, if the matches are accessible by then and if cagematch.net still exits: I'll do one of those career introspectives like usual and maybe I will say some of the mean things others said but for now. I LOVE Matt Hardy, he's one of my dudes!"

[3.0] "At his peak he was a decent midcarder at best, carried by his more talented and charismatic brother. The last ten years have seen him become one of the most insufferable and annoying personalities in the pro-wrestling word; his character work is shit and every storyline he's involved in is stupid and inconsistent. His promos make you want to just turn off the screen and watch something else. Meanwhile, his "in-ring" work (often outside of it actually) is among the most terrible I have ever seen, at least in the modern era. He brings nothing to the table and has been overpushed and overexposed for far too long now - and he was never that good to begin with"

[5.0] "Never been a fan of Matt on his own. As a tag team wrestler he is excellent as proven with his brother, but I feel this is mostly down to Jeff. Matt Hardy has always underwhelmed me in the ring and I havent been a fan of many of his gimmicks or his runs."

Everywhere he goes he gets screwed, in WWE he gets fired for rightfully calling out his best friend for stealing his gf, TNA he does well, then his brother shows up and Matt stops getting pushed as a singles star during his best run, AEW, they bring back the WWE problem, and they do the same thing that happened in TNA to him. He may have held his fair shair of titles over his time, but he has been ruined by either Edge or Jeff throught his entire career. And even now hes being stuck paired up with Private Party showing how little faith they have in him. Thank you Matt, I'm sorry youve had to endure all this."

[9.0] "Sure, he might have been gone to dark places at times. But let's be honest Matt is one of a great worker. He might have had some addiction problems in the past however unlike his Brother it never did impact his performance in the ring. Matt is in my opinion top 3 best gimmick creators ever. He has reinovated himself countless times and he always manages to stay relevant. Unlike some other great gimmick creators Matt can also wrestle good matches. Overall i dont know why people rate him so low when the guy is good at everything. If i could vote he would be 9/10 for me. He is underappreciated, underrated and will stay like that until the day he retires. Only then people will understand his genius."

Had his best singles run late in his career as Broken Matt which highlighted his ability to create crazy characters and get things over. However, other than the Impact Broken run, Matt Hardy was an underwhelming singles wrestler, but inspired a generation of guys while he was in the Hardy Boyz. Matt was never in the right place at the right time, but somehow managed to still became a wolrd champion and one of the pillars of tag team wrestling history."
