1106.06.2022texasyosh10.0The original Sheik was an incredible draw and is one of the storied hardcore wrestlers from his time in Detroit, to later in his career in Japan.

1605.02.2020ElPolloLoco7.0Pretty innovative when it came the shocking side of the business (elaborate entrances, improvised weapons, gore etc) and at a time a hugely successful promoter ruling over one of the most popular territories in the US. But that success was also his downfall as he preferred to stick to his same old fare (read: being the at the center of the spotlight), ultimately dooming Detroit to go out with a whimper as a main territory. Deeply ironic considering how he trained innovative and exciting wrestlers such as Rob Van Dam. His body of work has not aged well, unfortunately: even by 50's standards he was pretty basic in the ring and at the end of his acreer, when he was tagging along with his nephew Sabu and when most modern fans got to see him, he was too broken down to do anything of note. Great showman, good trainer but a rather bad wrestler.
1706.12.2018JEK 19918.0A pioneer of hardcore wrestling and blood. One of wrestling's greatest heels of all time. This man was insane just like Abdullah the Butcher. He even lite people on fire. Crazy man! This man bleed buckets and sold many arenas. His time in Japan was the greatest. He was stocky and was exciting to watch. He wrestled well into his 70's.
1812.11.2018RatingsMachine9.0The biggest drawing heel of all time, the Sheik is without question a hall of fame talent, but he loses a point for killing Detroit with his refusal to adapt when his act had worn out its welcome.

2304.05.2014Hieronymus8.0The Sheik is an intriguing figure in professional wrestling, most notable for his use of heelish gimmicks, he helped develop "hardcore" wrestling with the likes of Bruiser Brody, Abdullah the Butcher, and Terry Funk, while also achieving legitimate success in the ranks of top promotions like the NWA and WWWF. His fame comes from his garish in-ring tactics such as biting his opponents, strangling them with cords, stabbing them with pencils, and sometimes even burning them. He remained a top draw throughout his career, mostly due to his violent matches, and as such it is often overlooked that he had matches against top wrestlers like Lou Thesz, Bruno Sammartino, Dusty Rhodes, etc. Perhaps in poor taste, The Sheik (real name Ed Farhat) would play upon the racial stereotypes and cultural insensitivity of the 1960's, accompanied to the ring with a harem of women and a translator (The Sheik kayfabe spoke no English, growling into the mic if addressed) He refused to wrestle until he had prayed to Mecca in-ring; trash would rain down on him as rolled out a prayer rug and bowed. The success of the character inspired others in the same vein such as The Iron Sheik, Sabu (Farhat's real-life nephew), and even a modern iteration of The Sheik. Regardless as to personal opinion of the gimmick or Farhat's in-ring abilities, The Sheik is praised by many in the business, and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007 for his contributions to professional wrestling.

3130.05.2010Erased6.0Etwas Overrated. Ein erstklassiger Wrestler war er nie. Im Hardcore Bereich zwar noch annehmbar, aber gefehlt hat ihm einfach etliches.
