[8.0] "The rating for New Jack on this website disappoints me a lot. I rate wrestlers based on what they did in the realm of professional-wrestling rather than what they represent outside of it. That said, New Jack fucking rules and if you don't like him, you're a little bitch. Dude was so unbelievably over in ECW and had the coolest gimmick ever--just come out, beat the shit out of people with weapons, and have his theme loop the entire match. I see a lot of new fans shit on the name of New Jack and it angers me a lot because this dude is the real deal. Just watch Heatwave '98 and wait 'til the very end to see what I mean. There ain't ever gonna be another New Jack. RIP."
[0.0] "Fuck this POS. pro wrestling is in inherently dangerous sport that already takes years off people's lives and this jackass makes things work. Hearing stories about new jack makes me wonder why he was let in the ring in the first place. It's one thing to be a stiff worker, but being malicious is just messed up. I also hate the people that enable it and thought it was cool, but that is just a problem with wrestling fans. Anyone who praises this guy for being 'cool' or 'badass' should be sent to therapy. Fuck new jack, if hell exists, i sure hope he is burning in it."
[2.0] "New Jack was a cunt. That being said he did have some wrestling ability and could gain incredible heat, that being said his work was effectively pointless violence that amounted to little in the way of tangible entertainment."
"Say what you will, but New Jack truly WAS his character, in an age where kayfabe had been killed off once and for all. In my eyes, he stands as one of the greatest performers in the history of professional wrestling. A child from the absolute gutter who grew up to carve out his spot in the annals of a historically racist, elitist, and thus highly protective industry. Jack never apologized for who he was, and in spite of his more controversial, even criminal acts, I think that deserves a hell of a lot of respect. Rest in peace."
[3.0] "He could cut a promo, and couldn't wrestle. His outside antics got him notoriety. I give him 3 points for the promos, but his wrestling skills don't warrant additional in my opinion."
[0.0] "Stabbing a guy almost to death, the weird comments about OJ Simpson, awful human being, scum, TRASH. There are other actual hardcore wrestlers out there who aren't crazy or actually trying to kill people. If you like him, are you good? The score should be even lower."
[0.0] "This is a business about respect. That is undeniable. New Jack is one of the most violent hardcore shoot wrestlers of all time. He has no patience for inexperienced or different style wrestling. For crying out loud, the man has several justifiable homicides and countless assaults. As a wrestler, he's an ECW legend; but the man is CRAZY and DANGEROUS He is a textbook psychopath and N*gga"
"[10.0] "The Brotha did what he was supposed to do he entertained the fan, he was fixing to play with you if you're his opponent or on some bullcrap, true hardcore icon who could talk anyone into the building as soon as Ice Cube and Dr. Dre hit shit was fixing to get real New Jack is immortalized on the Mount Rushmore of Hardcore Icons like Raven, Sabu, and Terry Funk so don't get it twisted. 10 out of 10"
[0.0] "While he was a good promo, I never really cared for him as a wrestler and legitimately despise him as a person. Wrestling is built upon trust between the performers to work together and take care of each other's bodies and New Jack flagrantly and repeatedly violated that trust often for the stupidest of reasons."
[0.0] "Man, what is there to say about this guy that hasn't already been said? He wasn't a wrestler, plain and simple. Whilst I do believe hardcore wrestling has a place within the business, whatever New Jack did was just an excuse to legitimately hurt people. Everybody knows about the Mass Transit incident, Vic Grimes incident and Gypsy Joe incident. That's about one time too many, let alone three times. I understand that not everybody within the business likes one another, but it's not an excuse to go into the ring and actually hurt somebody over personal feelings or mistakes in matches. The guy was basically a thug that was crazy enough to do a lot of the insane hardcore stuff and get some notoriety for it. Horrible person, horrible wrestler, big fat 0 from me."
[8.0] "The last real carny wrestler. If you need an example of how good New Jack was at keeping kayfabe alive, just look at his ratings on this site. With a career legacy that can be traced along a series of "incidents", Jack took every botch, receipt, and mistake and built it into the mythology of his character. Suddenly, a great crowd-pleasing daredevil becomes a terrifying homicidal maniac. Despite making a career off of being known as a terrifying homicidal maniac, no one ever seems to ask any questions on if New Jack ever exaggerated any details of his violence. The further the character grew, the less excusable it all became - though, let's be honest: Mass Transit was no worse than anything guys like Vader, Yokozuna, or the Steiners did to uncooperative enhancement talent. You're telling me you'd rather get paralyzed than lose a bunch of blood (but not too much to keep kayfabe 'til you break the curtains)? Outside of his chaotic whirlwind of a character, New Jack was a great hardcore wrestler who is maybe one of the most underrated promo cutters of all time. Everyone knows the OJ line, but there's this one ECW promo where he cuts this grim, serious, soft-spoken promo about losing family to stray bullets, and how he has to win the tag titles to get his family to a safer place, and losing means his family dies, so he won't do it. As fun as he ends up being as the comedy character in TNA with Shark Boy, and as good as he is as the super heel egging on racists in SMW, and as much as he's known for being the terror of independent wrestling in the 2000s, he manages to do all of this while being able to cut promos that can humanize and lionize even the Original Gangsta within five minutes. I would sell my soul to see this guy feud with Eddie Kingston. Jack is a lot of things, but untalented isn't one of them. He was a hardcore guy and a southern tag wrestler. Not liking the style is a lot different from thinking he can't do it. New Jack should be remembered the way he was: as one of the best true *workers* of his era, a guy who could make anyone believe anything and who could play any role he was given, and a man who could tap into racism and white paranoia so well that countless people still believe he was a cold-hearted psychopath, instead of your average wrestler of the 1990s. Plus, the powder guitar always looked so awesome."
[0.0] "This guy is a terrible person and a terrible wrestler. Stabbing and trying to kill people because they won't sell for you in a match is absolutely unacceptable. If you are a wrestler your top priority should be protecting your opponent and anyone else in the ring rather then throwing someone to their death so you can get praised by some of the sickos (not in a good way) that hide in the wrestling community."
"I fucking love new jack idc, rip. He gets a 10 from me for his entrance music continuing to play during his matches I'll be back to add it in 7 days lol"
"Legit a murderer. Literally stabbed a guy a dozen times while in the middle of a match. Tried to kill people because they wouldn't sell for him or because of an accidental injury. Legit a horrible human being. And if ICP even hates you then you know you messed up big time."
[0.0] "One of the worst pro-wrestlers imaginable. Legit dickhead, couldn't work, was at times just gross. A blemish on every promotion he ever worked for. He was lucky that the ECW crowd went with him because I don't think any other crowd in North America would have seen anything redeemable in him."
[0.0] "As much as I want to give him at least a point, I can't, in good conscience, do that. He was an unprofessional individual who seemed to suffer from serious mental health issues, using professional wrestling as an outlet for his dangerous and violent behavior."
[0.0] "I don't care about rating the character fairly. This guy admittedly tried to kill someone in a match by throwing him onto the floor, there is nothing he can do to redeem that, and he still stands by it. He stabbed someone for a couple of stiff shots, he has done one thousand times worse yet doesn't seem to care about that. I would give this man less than 0 if I could, does not belong anywhere near wrestling ring."
[0.0] "An embarrassment to pro wrestling that this guy was ever allowed into a ring. Couldn't wrestle. Fake tough guy that was never in a real fight in his entire life, only shot on people that trusted him to work a wrestling match. The world is a better place without New Jack."
"Nothing more than another by the numbers psychotic Hoodrat who justified being a piece of shit of an individual with the good old tried and true "Bad Upbringing" sob story. The only reason he got signed by ECW and had a career to begin with is another prime example of "right place, right time". With the rise of Gangsta Rap in the counter-culture peaking in 1992 and being reviled by mainstream society, ECW simply needed a face to tap into the then hot and new "Gangsta" street image that was gaining popularity. Thus, New Jack got picked simply because he represented what was then an edgy hot new trend in pop culture at the time to appeal to the MTV Gen-Xers at the time."
[8.0] "Terrible technical wrestler but an amazing hardcore wrestler with an amazing presentation & gimmick. Genuinely terrifying to watch. He knew what he did good and did those things. New Jack is an insanely underrated promo because it felt like it was coming straight from the heart (most of the time it is). His TNA run features some insane spots. His ECW run is obviously his best. Rewatching his stuff back and this man was insane in a good way. Natural Born Killaz playing while New Jack dives off a balcony is peak Professional Wrestling"
[6.0] "Outside of wild brawls not really worth much to have inside the ring, not going to put out a classic match but what New Jack did have was the gift of gab. If you actually listened to his words his promos were actually top draw. It suited his gimmick perfectly."
[6.0] "Rating him at 6 Mainly for his SMW run which he was one of the best promos in wrestling at the time. His ECW run is tough because his drug use and style completely shifted in a negative direction. Had he stayed around some of the talents of the likes of Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson who would teach him ways of improving from an in-ring perspective who knows what could have been for Jack."
[4.0] "you'd have to watch the special rules matches for any new jack match. he was a very basic wrestler that was a lot better with no rules. its what hes most known for as well. I don't think I can give higher than a 4 for that even though I loved him"
[0.0] "My rating criteria is based upon watchability. If I am sitting there transfixed by every nuance, rewinding almost every spot, you get a 10 and your name is maybe Eddie Guerrero, Cowboy Scott Casey or perhaps Rey Mysterio in '96. If I scramble to fast forward, your name is Abdullah the Butcher, Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant or NEW JACK. I don't like to speak ill of the dead but I will say life on planet earth seems a bit safer without New Jack."
[1.0] "New Jack was not a wrestler, he was a street fighter. But if he actually qualifies as a wrestler then he was one of the worst wrestlers ever. It takes skill to learn how to properly execute grapples, submission moves and strikes. It takes little talent or skill to attack people with weapons. On top of that he wasn't safe to work with at all and tried to kill people in the ring for no reason. If you like senseless violence or outlaw mudshows then you might like New Jack but if you like wrestling you'd probably be turned off by his matches. But I give him a point for being good on the mic."
[9.0] "Im far too young to have seen ECW when it was around, but I have watched lots of it because my dad was a superfan. New Jack has always been my favorite on the roster. Everyone wants to talk about how he wasnt a real wrestler which I get, to an extent. Think about lots of shit on ECW, he fit right in, and he did a damn good job. Sure he was very violent, but thats what the promotion wanted, thats what the fans wanted, and he did one thing that I dont think any wrestler has ever done which is that he scared me genuinely, and he wasnt even a horror gimmick, hes like everything Eddie Kingston wants to be. Every time Natural Born Killaz hit, I knew some fucked up shit was about to go down, or we were about to get some crazy ass promo about how his momma told him to get his ass back up, something like that. I cant rate yet but Id give him a 9/10, if you want to watch a cornball emo extreme wrestler go watch darby allin and his shithole wrestling (no hate im just in a bad mood)"
[6.0] "Should New Jack be rated for his wrestling ability, absolutely not. People are on here complaining that he couldnt carry a match, yeah, of course not. Besides a handful of wrestlers, how many long term ECW wrestlers could? Youve got Taz, Sabu, 2.5/8 Dudleys, RVD, Funk, Raven, Awesome, Douglas, and Dreamer, with a few more sure. It may seem like a lot there, but in the grand scheme of things thats not even 1/4th of the roster. And even still, people in that promotion arent looked at for their actual in ring ability, theyre looked at for their exteme deathdefying stunts and spectacular visual spots. New Jack is at the top of the extreme scale, doing some Foley level stuff. Man brought a Godzilla toy down and hit somebody with it, youve gotta give him at least a 3 for that. He may have been a jerk, and he may have been anoying in the Gangstas, I get that, but he is still a hardcore god, and giving people like Abdullah and Nick Gage a run for their money. he gets a six for the simple fact hes willing to do anything to entertain the audience."
[9.0] "A guilty pleasure of mine. While New Jack isnt exactly the most technical of wrestlers, and my opinion is definitely against the grain, his ability to electrify an audience is incredible and his time in ECW was a highlight of the night to me most of the time. While his antics outside (and sometimes inside) the ring are sometimes questionable and sometimes definitely criminal, it doesnt detract from the excitement I get when I hear that theme music start to play and I see a trash can full of weapons sail into the ring. As well as New Jack being one of the best shoot promos ever, the guy is charismatic and captures my attention like no other. I do know my opinion isnt popular but its my own and its a shame he left so soon. RIP to the Original Gangsta."
[2.0] "New Jack had some good moments in ecw and other territories but the fact he was so unprofessional really kills whatever good he did in the business. He will forever be know as the guy that pretty much killed a underage kid in the ring or be know for trying to kill a opponent because they didn't respect him or show respect to him"
[8.0] "I love New Jack as a wrestler. Everything about him just shined to me. The entrance music playing through his matches, the team of the Gangstas, the idgaf attitude. He was the most hardcore dude to step foot in ECW and no one even comes close. His ability to get heat with any audience but also being loved wherever he went was amazing. Saw his XPW and CZW stuff and it was kinda trash and very short. I suggest his beginnings in SMW and his 1995-2001 run in ECW. So sad he passed and wish his family well."
[0.0] "No one should remember New jack, he was a lackluster garbage wrestler who used to show up high and try to get cheap heat making racial comments. Then he'd hit people with things from a garbage can or shopping cart for 5 minutes and at some point blade himself. He did a bunch of shoot interviews that honestly are hilarious and was featured in "Behind the Mat" as a sympathetic character due to creative editing. He was a bad wrestler and a worse human being who attempted to kill no less than 4 people in the ring. Yes, his shoot interviews are hilarious, but he's probably the worst worker in the history of wrestling, not just botching moves but having tried to murder multiple people in the ring (that fellow he stabbed, gypsy joe) even if some of them were probably accidents (Mass transit) or probably deserved it (Abdullah the Butcher who was also a piece of filth and a terrible wrestler). So just off the top of my head that's 4 people he almost murdered in the ring. Besides trying to murder several people and never having put on a single good match in his entire career, he also sold revenge pornography pictures of his ex-girlfriend (Teri Runnels), disowned his son for being gay, and was just generally not a very nice person."
"The physical embodiment of not giving a single F***. obviously a spot monkey, but the dude was beyond fearless and wasnt intimidated by anything, kayfabe or IRL. despite the controversy surrounding him I think he was probably a decent guy outside the ring, considering the hand he was dealt in life. RIP New Jack."
). Selbst bis heute weiß keiner so genau, was an New Jack Kunstfigur und was authentisch ist.
[9.0] "Everybody's talking about he tried to kill wrestlers in the ring. I'm not gonna defend this attitude obviously but he did those things for the so much respect he has to this business and that's one of the most (if not the most) important things about a wrestler to me. Now we can talk about his work. He's clearly not a technical magician but he is the best at mixing brawling and hardcore. Master example of entertainment, he lives what he talks. Just look at the OJ Simpson promo. That was barely a two minute interwiev and people are still talking about that after 20 years. About mimics, gestures and realism. He ain't got no one on his level. Dude was real deal and someone like that always have my ultimate respect despite their wrongs."
[3.0] "Hard guy to rate due to his actual insane personality. He was not bad in the ring and had great charisma and mic skills. He did not seem to understand one of the most important rules of wrestling: don't injure your opponents. Got charged multiple times for trying to kill his opponents and had some of the worst moments in pro wrestling. One of the most controversial guys in pro wrestling history."
[8.0] "Never was a good or great wrestler perse, but he was an OG. He created a lot of memories. He was a hell of a promo. What you saw was what you got. He had bloody & violent matches. He also OG'd the idea of his theme music playing while fighting all over the building which inspired AEW's Anarchy in the Arena concept. RIP to the legendary New Jack."
"I don't think I can give Jack a score due to the extreme good and bad he brings. On the one hand, he was needlessly violent, inspired racial hatred, and hurt other people who trusted their bodies with him. On the other, he's one of the most gifted performers on the mic and was very ahead of his time as far as angles went, while capturing the mystique of old fashioned wrestling personas where you weren't sure what was real about him and what wasn't. Whether he was legitimately criminally insane or just playing a part is a mystery, and is besides the point because the result was the same. Ultimately, he is a fascinating figure in wrestling history who embraced abandoned approaches to kayfabe while taking things to a new level of "reality" later embraced by the business as a whole. Oh well. Richard Wagner wrote fantastic music and reinvented his idiom while at the same time being a cowardly deadbeat anti-semite at the same time. We can view New Jack in something of the same way. Oh, and he was a capable worker, but chose a non-working style for the majority of his career."
[1.0] "The definition of a "garbage wrestler" intimidating presence, and look but couldn't do much beyond hitting people with objects and outright stabbing people. Mentally unstable to say the least!"
"Not a good wrestler whatsoever, but one of the most charismatic wrestlers of all time. Sure he never really used ACTUAL wrestling moves and wasn't a technical genius, but once a mic was in his hand, or once he dragged a trashcan full of hardware store items while his theme blasted, you just couldn't look away. I honestly think he's fairly underrated in terms of storylines and being an on-screen character. His run in Smoky Mountain Wrestling is overlooked, and work in ECW such as his short feud with Mustafa is too. Can't forget about his criminally underrated run in TNA: I'd never expect Sharkboy and New Jack being a tag team to work so well but it did!"
[8.0] "New Jack needs to be appreciated for what he did in the ring. He was a great hardcore wrestler and he was a nice guy (to me at least) out of the ring. I can see why he has such a low rating but it doesn't mean he didn't do anything important."
[1.0] "Great promos, so one point for him. Terrible wrestler. I try to make it a policy to just judge a wrestler based on his on-screen and in-ring actions because, frankly, it's a business where scumbags prosper. However, regardless of the shitty things he was rumored to have done outside of wrestling, New Jack committed vicious assaults in the ring numerous times. He never had the balls to pull that on a real star or someone that could get his ass, though. Just a couple of low-level guys nobody cares about, a teenage boy, and a senior citizen. "Mass Transit asked to be bladed! He didn't follow the unwritten rules that these insecure douchebags make up to bully new guys! He shouldn't have been in an ECW ring if he didn't want to almost die! The stabbing incident wasn't bad! He only stabbed him 9 times, mark! " It makes you wonder what type of idiots would defend him knowing he's an actually violent man. Arguably the prototype for the awful deathmatch guy whose wrestling style is 95% senseless violence and 5% really shitty wrestling moves. People like him make me feel gross for liking wrestling."
[7.0] "Incredible promo, took risks few would dare, had an aura of legitimate danger that not many had in wrestling. A deathmatch innovator that could easily work other styles, particularly comedy. New Jack worked in dozens of different companies up and down the United States for almost 30 years. Agree with his choices or not, New Jack is a legend of independent wrestling, and for him to be review bombed with 0's is more of an inditement of Cagematch than the man himself."
[8.0] "Now I am not here to justify what New Jack's outrageous actions here but when working with the right workers he can be entertaining as hell. Also I think his ability to cut promos is also heavily overlooked in my opinion."
[0.0] "New Jack was just awful, his wrestling skills were just as good as a monkey with swords as arms: violent, savage and with a deadly weapon in his hands."
[0.0] "This guy wanted to kill some wrestlers during his matchs, not a real professional. Just someone who didn't deserve to wrestle, he was unsafe and dangerous."
[3.0] "I don't know much about him and about his skills but just the fact, that he admited that he wanted to kill someone in the ring makes him unprofesional."
[7.0] "He was very entertaining in TNA and was willing to put his body on the line, but he was unsafe to work with in ECW. To sum up, a hardcore legend with some sins from the past (including Mass Transit Incident)."
[9.0] "New Jack gave everything he had for the ecstasy of spectacle, sacrificing the integrity of his bones, the volume of his blood, the reputation of his character inside and outside of the ring for the cheers and shocked awes of a crowd. When he took things too far, which he absolutely did several times, it showed wrestling at its absolute worst. But what gets overshadowed with New Jack is how much he contributed to wrestling's finest side, the side of the medium that ellicits feelings and guttural reactions that are impossible to find anywhere else, that make you feel the adrenaline rush through your veins and the glee of excitement escaping your lungs. He was wrestling's best ever promo, a man who channelled so much real anger and hatred into his vocals (and his matches) that the line between reality and fiction disappeared before your eyes. I miss him. There has never been anyone else like him since he made his debut, something you can barely say about any professional wrestler in history. I wish we could have one more promo, one more moment of watching disbelief fly out of the window, escaping into the horizon as New Jack makes me believe in his truth all over again."
[0.0] "Terrible in the ring. Lest we forget that he has tried on numerous occasions to try and murder someone in the ring, whether it's Vic Grimes, Gypsy Joe or Mass Transit. He was very controversial and also very unsafe in the ring."
[2.0] "His promo work was off the charts for heat, and often hilarious in retrospect. But when you're trying to literally murder people in the ring, you have no place in wrestling."
[10.0] "Not everyone needs to be an all time worker to be memorable. He cut amazing promos and was overall just one of the most fun guys everywhere he went. I watched him for the music hilariously playing in the background and him smacking dorks with baby powdered filled guitars. I could get my great rasslin fix from others. Rest easy big fella you will be missed"
[8.0] "I've been immensely entertained by New Jack for his entire time as a pro wrestler. Was he a good technical wrestler? No, of course not. But man did the man have natural charisma. He could talk, and he knew how to get over. New Jack was the best kind of trainwreck that you can't look away from."
"New Jack's in ring ability may not have been phenomenal. But He made up for it in Badassery. Rip to a goat in the hardcore scene. 5.0 (this was my first review)."
[1.0] "Dangerous, unsafe, wreckless, synonym for dangerous. 1 point for getting heat, but who couldn't in the 90s? Also that hardly outweighs numberous literal attempted murders in the ring. Save that shit for after the show. In a way, glad he's gone."
[0.0] "One of the WORST "wrestlers" I've ever seen! He was too dangerous for others (Mass Transit, Vic Grimes, Gypsy Joe...). You can't call it "Wrestling" when a "wrestler" try to stabbing you."
[5.0] "Undeniable charisma, one of the best talkers I've seen. I'm not sure if you can call him a good brawler or not, -- you can certainly say he was unsafe -- nonetheless, he was damn sure entertaining, and he was 100% real."
[6.0] "I have an affinity for wrestlers who do dumb stuff and New Jack sure did some dumb stuff. Out of this world promo skills, his promos in SMW are what MJF thinks he is doing in AEW."
[0.0] "I just don't like watching him in ring! And the non-professional things that he had done made it worse.. i get he was over with some sort of audience but thar doesn't mean he was a good wrestler or even a good human being!"
[6.0] "Pro Wrestling is a weird type of entertainment, there seems to be a lot of requirements to make it in this business; Have a good look, Be good at moves and transitions, be good at talking, and most importantly sell yourself as the real deal. Nobody was or even is as real as New Jack got. New Jack could absolutely talk on the mic and I think alot of people look over that but on the mic he was incredible, He wasn't an athlete and his moveset was just diving off stuff and hitting people with weapons which is sick, and he wasn't the tallest or muscular or even handsome. New Jack was an ugly pissed black man that wanted to beat the shit out of you with no regard for you safety and that's why I like him."
[0.0] "This guy was an EMBARRASSMENT to pro wrestling. Legit tried to kill some of his opponents. He got away with a lot of crimes. Easily one of the worst wrestlers of all time."
[2.0] "New Jack was an absolutely transcendent promo back in his heyday, but I can't give him a good score because there were too many examples of him being dangerous and unprofessional inside the ring. Nevertheless, I hope he rests in peace."
[0.0] "I'm not sure why I'm required to comment, but simply put New Jack is a reckless and unprofessional wrestler. Nothing special about what he does. With that being said, RIP New Jack."
[0.0] "He deliberately tried to murder Vic Grimes in a wrestling match. He stabbed some random indie wrestler in the ring anywhere between 9 and 16 times, depending on who you ask. He gigged a 17-year-old so badly during a match that he almost died. Even if those things hadn't happened he'd still be lucky to be rated a 1 or 2 because the only thing he was good at was cutting a promo. But they did, and his having just died doesn't change that. Rest in piss."
"What New Jack lacked in wrestling skills, he made up for with insane brawls and violent spots, not to mention his mic skills (of which he had charisma in bags). Of course, his reliance on violence came with extremely controversial consequences (most infamously cutting open a 17 year old kid so badly that he never wrestled again). But goddammit, New Jack will go down as one of the most entertaining wrestlers (imo) of all time. RIP New Jack and may Natural Born Killaz be playing on loop forever in heaven"
[0.0] "Dangerous in and out of the ring absolutely garbage wrestler and human being belongs in jail a stain on the industry that should have never been near a ring"
[6.0] "I wasn't a fan of New Jack's matches, but there's a lot more to wrestling than just matches. I'm also not a fan of Jerome Young the human being, but this rating is strictly for the fictional wrestling character of New Jack, not who he is in real life. At one point in time, New Jack was easily one of the best promos in the business, able to drum up major heat in an entertaining and sometimes darkly comedic fashion. When companies like the WWF were rolling out a cartoonish presentation, this guy stood in stark contrast with his edgy persona and way ahead of his time promos. He carried himself with a true authenticity & believability, was able to get over in a major way as both a heel in Smokey Mountain & a face in ECW, and also had the coolest theme song in wrestling to boot (okay, maybe second-coolest after The Sandman, but they're definitely neck-and-neck. )"
[0.0] "Terrible wrestler if he even is considered a wrestler after all. All he did was try to murder his opponents with knives, chairs etc. Not a good person either"
[7.0] "The hate for New Jack is understandable after the shit he pulled through his career but I'm not going to deny the positives. How work on the mic is legendary creating some of the most amazing promos I've ever scene, and most times they were insults to a group of racist white crowds, omg I nearly died. His matches or straight up brawls are must see, I don't think their is anybody more controversial than New Jack, just pray you don't piss off the man."
[0.0] "A scary and unsafe wrestler to work with, plus he did a lot of despicable actions, which includes legitimate injure his opponent and even an homicide attempt."
[6.0] "Few can top this ECW icon on the microphone. Are his matches sloppy? Often, yeah. They're usually brawls, though, and New Jack can take an audience on a ride with his fists and weapons shots just as easily as he can with his words. He has also put his body on the line for decades with some of the most death-defying bumps you'd ever see. He also has underrated comedic chops, as highlighted by his run tagging with Shark Boy in the early days of TNA. I haven't much to say which has not yet been said on here and elsewhere by countless others as it pertains to New Jack's alleged crimes. It is sometimes hard to tell fact from fiction with New Jack. Some of the things he appears to have done are downright deplorable and they must be taken into account when considering his legacy. Despite this, one cannot deny that he is for better or worse a legend of the industry."
[0.0] "Was a fun garbage wrestler in ECW. Unfortunately is a garbage human being as evidenced by his behaviour and lack of respect for anyone else in the 19 years since."
[0.0] "Nothing good about New Jack way too dangerous in the ring. He was viscous and cruel in the ring! Chip on the shoulder! Almost killing Mass Transit, him injuring Gypsy Joe and stabbing Hunter Red was unacceptable."
[1.0] "New Jack is not only an awful wrestler, but an awful human being as well. Why he still has stans is beyond me, especially after his Dark Side of the Ring episode. Maybe they like him because he brings an "authenticity" to his matches? That's the only thing I can say about him that is slightly positive about him. He deserves to be blacklisted from the wrestling industry and shamed away from public eye."
[0.0] "I know this is the site to rate wrestlers based upon wrestling ability, but New Jack is just a horrible human being, he deserves nothing over a 0. Aside from that, he has horrible in-ring skills and mic skill anyway. This piece of scum is a psychopath, he needs to be locked up for the rest of his life."
[0.0] "New Jack is a really poor human being, awful in ring ability, average mic skills and a bellow average charisma. he really can't wrestle and when he does he hurt people so he is getting a zero from me."
[0.0] "New Jack isn't a wrestler, he's a criminal. He's not cool or edgy, he's a dangerous sociopath that needs to be locked up. Aside from almost murdering that poor Erich Kulas kid, he has also cracked a young wrestler's skull open, brutalised a 69 year old man and tried to kill Vic Grimes by chucking him off a balcony. And yes, he could talk, but his charisma doesn't mean anything. There are so many evil people in history that could captivate crowds with their speeches as well. Just because he can talk, that doesn't excuse all of his heinous actions inside and outside the ring. This guy seriously needs some mental examination. I'm deadly serious. One day he will kill someone in the ring, most likely on purpose. I can almost guarantee it."
[1.0] "My favorite thing about a New Jack match was how his music continued to play during a good chunk of the match. It was a unique vibe & I kind of think more feds should experiment with that. Aside from that, I'd rather see New Jack in a jail cell than in a wrestling ring."
[4.0] "New Jack was hot at promos in SMW and during his early ECW run with Mustafa Saed. He played the violent street thug part perfectly and this could make him equally loved or hated by a crowd. However after a while his promos basically devolved into obscenity-laced nonsense which was only good for its shock value and got old pretty soon. But apparently this was what ECW and XPW fans at the time wanted and New Jack was only too happy to oblige. In the ring... let's be charitable and say that unless he had some kind of improvised weapon in his hands and was allowed to bleed freely he wasn't worth much. Just like Sandman New Jack would have quickly faded from the radar if not for Paul Heyman's genius: turning this guy into an asset for ECW is yet another proof of what a genius Paul E. Dangerously is."
[10.0] "Rubbish worker and a nasty piece of work to boot. But if most people are going to give him a 0 for those two facts, I'll throw a 10 at him for his promos. The man was absolute fire when you put a microphone in front of him. Plus, his entrance and matches were always an event as well with Natural Born Killers blaring out."
[6.0] "New Jack is a guy I've always had a love-hate relationship with and I REALLY had to debate the rating I was going to give him as it was either going to be really low or middleish, because I wouldn't call him great by any stretch... Well, except maybe in his promos. He's definitely not a guy who can wrestle a traditional match which is why he would have failed in WWF had he gotten there, but he never tried to pretend to either. He knew he was at his best as a balls to the wall, blood gushing brawler and that's exactly what he thrived in and stuck to for his career."
[0.0] "Sadly you'll have people defend this piece of shit. Why? I don't know, probably because of nostalgia. I've met him and shook his hand and he was cool to me, but I can't give him anything other than a zero. He seriously acts like a tough guy and brags about hurting people when they are giving him their bodies out of trust. Just a sad excuse for a wrestler."
[3.0] "There was a part of him that cared about the business, enjoyed doing what he did, cut some nice promos and risked a lot of his body throughout his career. I think that alone gets him a 3 rating. Then there's the insane side of him that tries to hurt/kill people when a match doesn't go his way. If only New Jack stayed away from the drugs. Things could have possibly gone differently for Jerome."
[1.0] "New Jack is just an asshole. Violent for the sake a being violent and has a tendency to turn any match into a shoot with little to no warning, although some would argue that getting in the ring with New Jack was all the warning you need. Has admitted to intentionally trying to hurt other wrestlers. Has never been more than a sideshow or novelist act."
Sorry - 0 Punkte!"
[0.0] "Komplette Graupe. Positives kann ich eigentlich kaum was finden. Einzig evtl das Gimmick (Gangsta) , was doch etwas hatte.
[2.0] "Just plain bad, both as a human being and a wrestler. Hell he wasn't even all that good of a Trashcan wrestler when you compare him to someone like Sabu or Raven! He can talk (surprisingly given the numerous concussions and brain damage I'm sure he has), which is why he isn't a straight 0. He should probably have been behind bars after some of the crap hes done. A continuation. Ive recently seen a bit of his SMW stuff and its kinda sad because he had good mic ability and in ring potential. That all went to crap as soon as he hit ECW apparently."
[1.0] "I don't like talking shit about New Jack because I'm afraid he will stab me but he's a completely horrible wrestler and always has been. He's considered an ECW legend but that doesn't mean shit. He's a legitimately horrible human being and has done some horrible things so I guess in that since he's a great heel as in he's really a bad person. I can't give him a 0 because at least he's done something but I can't go any higher than a 1."
[2.0] "Well, I guess "The Original Gangsta" New Jack was kinda unique in the mid-1990's and early-00's. Jack had a decent look and his promos were kinda ok (his work with Shark Boy in TNA was quite entertaining) but in the ring New Jack just couldn't work unless it was a hardcore match full with wepons and not a whole lot of sense."
"Newjack is a hybrid in the world of pro wrestling. He is a legitimate bad man, in every sense of the word. Tangling with Newjack must be a scary prospect for some. I would not want to work with the guy. He is a capable of things no other pro wrestler in the world would even consider. Throwing Vic Grimes like he did from the scaffold opened my eyes. Newjack has a talent and that is hurting people. Worse yet, he enjoys it and has zero conscience about it. That Grimes didn't die is in a part a small miracle. It is hard to rate him, because he is better than average at a lot of things. But the simple fact that he can act so inhumanely to another who has an implied agreement to protect him in place takes all of them down. Pro wrestlings greatest matches and feuds have come as a result of the players involved, pushing the envelope, but ultimately trusting their body with the others. Can you trust Newjack? History would suggest for the most part but not completely."
[3.0] "New Jack is a bit hard to rate. On the positive side, he was always a compelling promo, and while what he did in the ring can barely be described as wrestling, he knew how to make what he did entertaining to watch in that car-crash sort of way. Of course, on the other hand there was his propensity for controversial actions to consider, including his roles in the Mass Transit, Vic Grimes and Gypsy Joe incidents. He definitely benefited from having good bookers like Heyman and Cornette who knew how to play to his strengths. One thing's for sure, there's only one New Jack, and that's probably not a bad thing."
[0.0] "New Jack was a terrible wrestler and person. He has attempted murder so many times its getting hard to count. But I will name some. 1: Bringing a legit knife to the ring and stabbing someone 2: Throwing Vic Grimes of a forty foot scaffold 3: Cracking a wrestlers skull 4: The "Mass Transit" incident 5: Beating up a really old guy in the ring. Overall this guy sucks."
[0.0] "I don't even want to take time to write how bad he is, in the ring and outside the ring. I only write a comment because it's a condition to rate 0."
[6.0] "I get the impression that I've seen New Jack work more than the vast majority of people that rated him zero. That is entirely biased and unfair. Even though New Jack worked primarily as a brawler, he was a decent wrestler. He was pretty good at promos and had at least decent timing and psychology. Apparently, his reputation and gimmick have soured many people to the point of extreme bias."
[4.0] "Not a good person, but as a wrestler, he could put on some entertaining matches. Sure, he wasn't a skilled wrestler, but his style didn't require technical wrestling ability to still be exciting."
[2.0] "definitely a divider of opinions, New Jack was more gimmick than wrestler for sure - the whole point of it was he would use anything necessary (using a wide array of weapons such as Vacuum cleaners, Playstation's and N64's, Keyboards and whatever else his crazy mind could think of) his gimmick is that he will smash the hell out of you to win as he want's to make money (his Smokey Mountain Wrestling theme "New Jack Hustler" by Ice T is the epitome of what he's all about). does it justify what he did to some of the poor souls he faced over the years and legitimately beat the living hell out of them, no (although that does not stop him stating various reasons to try to justify what he has done over the years). but those who say he couldn't wrestle, check some of his early stuff in Smokey Mountain Wrestling and even before that he was actually a technically sound wrestler, not anything special, but he could put on an acceptable match. it's a pitty the whole gimmick took over and meant that we barely ever saw him actually perform a single wrestling move (not even a scoop slam or a DDT). back in ECW he was entertaining in the ultra-violent way that ECW was with Chairs, Tables, Barbed wire and insane shit, but after it shut down he continued the act on the independent scene and when your going to little indy shows with young, inexperienced guys and stiffing the hell out of them if they make a slight mistake or for being too cocky and not giving him "respect" then it taints your whole image as a professional. yes he's had some good matches over the years (the matches With Bam Bam and Mustafa come to mind in ECW) but he definitely had issues (both in the ring and outside of it) that result in him being scene as a dirt bag and unsafe to go against - he was too much gimmick, ego and violent - and that makes for a bad mix when your a hardcore wrestler."
[0.0] "I never liked him. He had almost no in ring talent. OK but weird on the mic. He wanted to gain prominence by hurting people in the ring and in fairness, willing to be hurt. Neither is good for the sport. Good Riddance."
[4.0] "Great, electrifying promos (something he's not often given credit for), but when it came to wrestling, there wasn't much to the guy. He should be thankful he had smart promoters like Jim Cornette and Paul Heyman to make him look a lot better than he was. Plus he seems genuinely psychotic (stabbing an opponent, beating another elderly one within an inch of his life. ) It's a good thing he's retired. But still, there's no one in the history of the sport that was or will be even REMOTELY like him."
[0.0] "Almost murdering opponents in the ring, brutalising barely trained or old-aged wrestlers, claiming homicides and shit-talking a lot, this man is simply a disgrace to pro wrestling."
Furchtbar."
[4.0] "As a tag team wrestler and a hardcore wrestler, New Jack was pretty entertaining. Brawling, using weapons theatrically, jumping off high places that could end his career, and performing the occasional basic move, piledriver, belly to belly suplex or death valley driver are the main descriptions of his wrestling style. I'm giving him a 4 because the man is quite good on the mic, he comes across as being more realistic and threatening than a lot of other guys (Bounty Hunting background and starting wrestling later showed more individual development and character), and his promos in ECW were pretty good. However, he wasn't a good enough or reliable enough wrestler to be a world heavyweight champion in any promotion. Take away his natural born killers theme playing throughout the match, the trash can full of weapons and the "extreme rules", and he wouldn't be either entertaining or a believable opponent against more traditional wrestlers who would have to carry him into a match that would be lucky to receive 1 or 2 out of 5 stars (It would be hard to imagine him having a good regular match, even if it was against some of the best). Many would suggest he's a one trick pony, doing more or less the same match with different opponents and formats, but he is good at that one trick."
