[5.0] "[5.0] Bad wrestler, bad kickboxer, bad MMA, generally just can't work for shit, somehow spared from being the worst IWGP Heavyweight Champion by virtue of actually wanting to be there and not running off with the belt and instead having to settle for 2nd worst, but undeniably and more than anything else I said, extremely entertaining. He reminds me of Sycho Sid in a lot of ways, where both don't have fantastic fundamentals but they make up for it with raw power and charisma. It's not really my thing, not what I look for in what I consider a great *wrestler*, but I see the appeal."

[5.0] "Bob Sapp along with Brock Lesnar are the memory of when njpw was in a deep hole of bad decisions, apart from the mistake of making him world champion the guy sold and was super popular thanks to his years in pride fc and in kickboxing, the guy has charisma, he looks intimidating and with the right opponent he can give a passable match."

[10.0] "While not by any means a technical mastermind, Bob Sapp was a force of nature both physically and in his ridiculous level of innate charisma. This rating is somewhat predicated on his shoot fighting career which was taking place at the same time, but Sapp was a phenomenon and still popular in Japan to this day. He had an aura about that was truly amazing, he and really did feel like a star. He also could handle himself in the ring in my opinion, able to look great in big singles matches versus Shinsuke Nakamura, Keiji Mutoh, and Kensuke Sasaki. While not a perfect talent, he was a god damn special one, and if he had stuck around longer, I think he could have developed into one of the best gaijin ever."

[5.0] "He had some alright matches when he was put against good workers. Had a lot of charisma and an insane and intimidating look. With that said for such an athlete he often looked awkward in the ring and ironically some of his strikes could look awful. Still a big draw and a big name, was fun in some ways but yeah...it was a weird experiment."

[4.0] "If you threw Bob in with the right guy, you could: if the moon was full and the planets were together in a perfect sequence: have a good match with the guy, but that was more or less credit to the person he was working with than anything else. On the positive side, Sapp WAS a undeniable draw in Japan at the time, basically a Western equivalent to Akebono in that his in ring stuff was less than fantastic, but he could still get crowds in just for the guy alone. Sapp did admittedly look pretty legit and was clearly in good shape, and he wasn't dangerous in the ring either. Having him be IWGP Champion will always be a colossal mistake, but for the time, he wasn't the worst in the world."

[2.0] "While people ferociously debate if EVIL is the right choice as an "emergency booking" IWGP Heavyweight champion, few would argue that Bob Sapp is clearly the worst of the list. An absolutely baffling choice considering he was only marginally better than the Gracie's in the ring (not exactly high praise) and he surely hadn't their martial arts prestige. I don't even remember how and why he vacated the belt: possibly even Inoki himself realized that he had gone too far with his obsession for stuffing the promotion with shoot fighters in only for a quick paycheck."

[7.0] "Ok so clearly Bob was far from an elite worker but he was a natural athlete and even tho he had huge limitations in ring he was able to get worked through some actually good matches against Kensuke Sasaki and Shinsuke Nakamura. He? s not going down in the history books as a mat wizard but Bob was a fine power wrestler and no worse then someone like Big Show."
