[6.0] "He's not bad! Definitely better than his 2 brothers since he can put watchable matches. He isn't anything special but with the faction he's been put with, that's pretty hard to do and he's done good with what he's been able to work with."

He can put up a hell of a match but is held back by the boring Tongan meatheads who have 0 character work and influence and are just Solo's bodyguards, WWE doesn't portray Tama Tonga as any different either but he's still given the separate spotlight sometimes."

I could not believe this guy is 42, looks 10 years younger! I hope the bloodline dies soon and they give him more singles matches, maybe when Jacob Fatu becomes the leader he could be better incorporated into stories."

Guerrillas Of Destiny were a decent team, nothing too crazy and Tama Tonga was obviously the standout of the team. Whilst he's a tag team wrestler still in WWE, I do think he'll be given an opportunity in the future to show how good he can be as a singles wrestler. Solid all round, good in-ring, has an idea for what he wants his character to be. Solid 7."
AceHagann wrote on 28.11.2024:

Someone who will surely be remembered as he can help push stories along without needing to be the center of attention. One of my personal favorites to watch in the ring right now but bias aside i think a 7 is a good spot for him."

He also proved he could be a singles star while in NJPW. He can play a character well with charisma, but he is not much of a mic guy. His WWE run is going to be interesting."

I can't say that I have ever watched a match or segment involving Tama Tonga that I truly enjoyed. I don't know how he will get over with the WWE crowd, considering Solo Sikoa isn't very over, but we will see."

He's a good talker, a solid heel and a sympathetic babyface. Also he has not just rested on his position in the company and continues to try and improve and impress. And yet...there is a disconnect with me where I am sometimes disinterested in his matches and feuds. I feel like that's a "me problem" though and not Tama himself."

ImperialUno wrote on 04.09.2023:
[6.0] "Tama Tonga is a fine wrestler, he's more than sufficient technically sound and he's really athletic but he's not that great inside the ring, he's predictable and is not the most exciting wrestler to watch but i can't deny that he's less boring to watch wrestle than he was as a heel 3-4 years ago, he was such a chore to watch back at the day alongside Tanga Loa. He's not the best or more charismatic babyface in the NJPW roster but does his job well though he's more suited as a midcarder and not as a upper midcarder."

He used to be very charismatic and had a great appearance. I loved his entrance, while he was crawling to the ring with his face pained white, black and red. Too bad he stopped doing that and now he shaved and cut his hair short. He doesn't remind his old self - skillwise as well..."
Ma Stump Puller wrote on 17.12.2020:
[6.0] "A relatively good tag wrestler but that's honestly it. Tonga is fine playing the big fish in NJPW's tiny tag division but that hasn't really led to any major breakthroughs beyond getting more titles. He can cut a good promo and he definitely has a quirkiness to him in and out of the ring that gets him noticed, but his G1 performances have been flops and any hype for anything singles wise has long since disappeared. I'd probably compare him to someone like D-Von Dudley: tag specialist but the glass ceiling was very low for him."
ElPolloLoco wrote on 30.09.2020:
[6.0] "Fine as a tag wrester, mostly because he always works so hard to be entertaining, but very limited as a singles wrestler: the various pushes he received in that direction over the years were mostly probes to see if Tama Tonga had improved in that field and each and every time he fizzled away. I think he has more or less a job for life in NJPW because he's always been faithful to the company (just like Fale) but rarely adds or detracts anything from the shows he's part of."

[5.0] "When WWE signed his brother, Tama Tonga found his way to NJPW. Tama wasn't booked very well in NJPW at all his first few years there, hell the NJPW affiliate company CMLL in Mexico booked Tama Tonga much better whenever he had an opportunity to tour over there, as the Lucha Libre promotion at least give him a chance to show how good he was. Tama got a bit of a break when he became part of the Bullet Club stable since it's inception but even then it was clear he was on the bottom of the totem pole of the group. It was clear even with Bullet Club that Tama Tonga was just another body in the group until 2016. That's when Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows went to WWE and NJPW signed Tama's brother Tanga Loa, with the brothers forming a tag team Guerrillas of Destiny. In Tangoa Loa, first match in the company they won the IWGP Tag Heavyweight titles and the team has been dominating the division ever since."

As a singles wrestler I find his matches not very interesting - he certainly has talent but for whatever reason in singles matches it never really comes together. He has charisma and is a very good promo which ups the score slightly, but fundamentally the matches he is talking you into seeing are Tama Tonga matches so not overly special. Better than his younger brother though!"

[5.0] "For years, this guy had a great alluring look and a distinctive style. We all desperately wanted to see him pushed in singles competition to show off what he could do. Then he entered the 2016 G1... and showed us that he has zero potential as a top singles star. Luckily, he would eventually find his spot in the tag division with Tanga Loa, as GOD would eventually become a pretty solid team, and one of the better ones in NJPW (which isn't exactly glowing praise for New Japan). Sadly GOD would get over-pushed for some really weird reason (perhaps out of desperation to appeal to western viewers), and they'd become rather boring as a result, and thus Tama himself would once again be viewed in a negative light. He's notably stepped his performances up quite a bit in 2019, but I still don't see him as anything other than a middle-of-the-road guy who is going nowhere. This is all sad because I've gone back to check out his pre-Bullet-Club matches and I've actually seen that he had some great energetic and agile displays, so he clearly had genuine potential as at least a solid midcarder, but I guess the western mindset of "heels must have annoyingly boring and bad performances" got the better of him and he decided to keep his more interesting offence and character work heavily buried under cheap heel heat and a bland heel offence."

Because he curses! ? You serious! ? I have heard Nick Gage curse all the tme and he's a better wrestler! Tama Tonga sucks."
KING wrote on 09.11.2018:
[6.0] "Singles wrestler below average, which is why he will never be a singles star, because wrestling matters in NJPW. However, he's a great talker and he can hide his limits in tag team matches, after 5 years he's getting a role similar to Karl Anderson, the talker of the Bullet Club and charismatic leader despite not being the guy designed to fight for the top titles. His tag team with his brother is one of the best out there tho, he can show his athletism without having to carry a singles match. Great heel even if a mediocre wrestler."

He had chances at g1 26, 27 and failed to deliver a memorable match even with top guys like tana, okada, ishii or omega. Easily the weakest performer at both g1 26 and 27. He is smooth in the ring, but he failed to reach next level. His tag work with loa is pretty good and they both improve as a tag team. His character is quite cool enough. So a 5 is fair I think."

(Don't know what else you call his body movements and facial expressions) - but overall a really impressive wrestler and a great Tag Team talent"
