I like listening his stories at the legends round table. But even if I live to be a hundred years old. I'll never understand why they changed his name to Dok Hendrix?"

[6.0] "Michael Hayes is an obnoxious human being. There. I said it. His arrogance, his awful dancing, and his stupid hair grate on my nerves. But I loved the Badstreet song. His Fabulous Freebirds run with Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts and their feud with the Von Erichs were the most awesome thing I've seen in the territory days. When he showed up in WCW and reformed the Freebirds with Gordy and Jimmy Garvin, I didn't think they'd stick around as long as they did. HIs run with the Hardy Boyz in the WWF could have gone somewhere, but they decided to try them as the New Brood instead. But what Hayes lack in the ring, he mad eup for with charisma and mic skills. He made me want to pay to see him get his ass kicked."

[7.0] "(Total rewrite but the score remains) Ups and downs but I'm mostly on board. One of those critical/crucial game changers/trail blazers in the industry. I LOVE that song Badstreet USA. The whole Freebird/Von Erich feud is so damn great, the only flaw is you definitely get more than your stomach's worth. His face work can get rather iffy. Sometimes he wore spandex leggings with no underwear - fkn EEEW! I find legitimate and guilty pleasure joy in the Jimmy Jam Garvin era of The Freebirds. I grew to strongly dislike when he would clap his hands, shake his hips and play to the crowd.... he relied on that too often and as he aged it became more groan inducing. Great looking elbows drops, sometimes he had a knack for throwing a good looking bulldog outta nowhere- cool! Has had some really fantastic ideas over the years. Doc Hendrix is Wrestlecrap. Worst fashion sense ever? The handful of times he "toned it down", he was quite tremendous and is an underrated color commentary guy. 6.5 rounded up"

[4.0] "Good lord, has there ever been someone who has achieved such levels of popularity and stardom while being so utterly boring in the ring' He gets points because his entrance is great and he introduced music to ring walks. My heart drops when I see him walk out alone knowing I am about to suffer for my sins of wanting to match entertaining wrestling."

[7.0] "One of the most obnoxious people I can think of & if I had kids I would tell them to stay far away from this strange man, but that said, his contributions to the business are hard to ignore. Tore it up with the Freebirds against the Von Erichs & helped bring the "rockstar" appeal to the world of wrestling."

[6.0] "He was not memorable as a singles wrestler but as a Freebird. He was decent in the ring. He tired to keep the Freebirds going with Jimmy Garvin and Brad Armstrong. When he was Dox Hendrix I did not like the haircut he had and the moustache. He was good on the mic as an announcer. he is best remember for Steve Austin giving his 3:16 speech. Not bad as a mananger for the Hardy Boyz."

[6.0] "Michael Hayes was a decent worker who got by through charisma and being a great talker. He had a good creative mind, but he loses points for being a raving racist."

[4.0] "I'll make this quick. Didn't have the greatest arsenal but that doesn't matter: he could deliver a hell of a promo and put asses in seats during territorial days. This carries a lot of personal bias, but I'll never approve of his confederate worshipping. Inhumane to argue otherwise."

[6.0] "One of the best talkers in wrestling, and a member of the legendary Freebirds, but he loses points for his ridiculous hairdo that makes him look like a drag queen."

[7.0] "A multi-talented guy, to say the least. He is best known for great 'southern' charisma, his work on the mic, his promos, his character development and even his music. Compared to these qualities, Hayes' actual wrestling ability took a back seat, and outside of selling well and like a fish out of water, on his own, his offence was not anything special. As a stable wrestler in the Fabulous Freebirds, he was involved in some good tag team matches, but the reality is that in the ring, Terry Gordy was a much better wrestler."
