First he was a silent bodyguard who, according to Jim Cornette's stories, never left the character even outside the ring, if he knew that fans could see him, then he was a friendly cop, and after a brief run in WCW he came back as a completely unprincipled brutal cop who became perhaps the most amoral character of the Attitude Era. Aside from trying to fully inhabit his personas, he was also very agile for a big guy. He had a number of impressive matches both in America and during his trips to Japan. "Working" gimmicks rarely worked, but Ray was becoming a notable iconic figure in the companies, becoming a popular mid/upper mid-carder. |

His run with Akeem as The Twin Towers was great, as was his position in the Mega-Powers storyline. Later, he would turn babyface and feud with The Mountie, Bobby Heenan, and Ted DiBiase. He'd go back to WCW as Bubba Rogers and later his real name Ray Traylor in an uneventful run. Then, he'd show up in WWF again as Vince McMahon's enforcer against Steve Austin. Sadly he would pass away in 2004. He had a good run during his career, his peak year from 1988-1993 in the WWF. But he was a great big man, one of the best in the business and he will be missed. |

In fact, it was during his babyface Boss Man run that he hit his career peak. One of the best big men in the business with few his size who could match his speed and savvy. Quick on his feet, quick with his hands and precision point timing. However... His WCW run was hit or miss depending on the week or month. With a babyface start, things seemed to be working out; his matches against Vader were surprisingly not awful. Quickly though, he reverted back to the "Big Bubba" name and proceeded to hit a long stride of borderline unwatchable garbage prior to joining the nWo; some very dire stuff against John Tenta. As a member of the nwo, he was one of many representing the fact that they were being watered down. Had a fun comeback as The Big Boss Man, being Vince McMahon's evergreen henchman. But it was obvious he just couldn't go like he used to. Died at an unfortunately young age, but I do feel his in ring career was indeed over by then. Chemistry with loads, but avoid matches against The Barbarian & the John Tenta feud (in fact most of his WCW work is rather bad). When on top of his game, he's OUTSTANDING! But when uninspired, things could be treacherously terrible. 7.5 rounded up. |

Some times appeared in main events. The SWAT gimmick was ok. The Kennel Form Hell match was shitty. He eventually fought in the Hardcore division which made him go down hill. In 2002 in WWE(F) he was not as good as before. Even though he died during his career he was phenomenal. He deserved to be in the WWE Hall of Fame. |
