"A great comedian who was ahead of his time, who was also remembered by wrestling fans. He wasn't outstanding wrestler, but he was a good speaker who could make people hate himself by challenging women or humiliating local hero Jerry Lawler on his territory. He had a short-term run, but even during this short time, he, not being a professional wrestler, was able to prove himself well and be remembered."

"Of course he wasn't a wrestler but he got the business and understood the circus like atmosphere of it better than people nowadays seem to. His feud with Lawler was groundbreaking and trendsetting in so many ways and this was back in the territory days when celebrity involvement was so heavily frowned upon. He was a natural heel."
