115.03.2024theelevatedone2.0Slaughter was a bad worker, even for the lower standards of the time he was active. Plodding, jobber moveset and physice that was chubby at the best of times. He could cut a decent promo but that's it. The most successful run of his career is his Iraqi heel run which was in such poor taste, imagine if WWE pulled this shit in 2022 with the Russia-Ukraine War. Also he never served in the military at any point of his life, so him continuing to live the gimmick is super disrespectful, and I'm not even a big "respect the troops" person. Either way everything about him is just really gross

819.11.2023JediSaiyanMaster12038.0Sgt. Slaughter is very underrated by todays fans, while I get the whole American patriot vs Evil foreigner storylines don't hold up well, Sgt. Slaughter was one of the better ones to do it well with The Iron Sheik, and their matches were amazing. He was a great worker, a pretty good wrestler, and even became an icon outside of the wrestling world. The less said about his Iraqi sympathizer gimmick, the better.
916.11.2023Wrest lingaddiction8.0One of the big characters of the 80's he won the hearts of fans in the early 80s with his pro-america gimmick and just as easily made them turn on him with his smpathiser gimmick where he teamed with the Iron Sheik.

1810.05.2023No One9.0An excellent in-ring worker for half of the 1980's, in Singles & in Tags, who had memorable matches & feuds. He also gained extra fame in the Mainstream for his involvement with the highly popular G.I. Joe franchise during it's peak. He became a very famous 1980's pro wrestling figure & personality.
1920.04.2023hirsty9710.0One of the best workers in the early/mid 80s, had classic matches with Patterson, Iron Sheik and Bob Backlund. Also achieved mainstream popularity with GI Joe and is one of the most recognisable names in the biz.

2109.04.2023Giantfan19804.0I missed out on his best years in the early 80's and had to settle for his awful turn coat heel phase and his transition period from wrestler to WWF agent in 92. Still, an iconic character for people who lived in the 80's.
2221.02.2023Conquistador379.0Edited for score raising and some other bits: I find the bulk of his heel work to be unappealing and sometimes boring. However, the team with Don Kernodle was quite enjoyable. That whole Iraqi sympathizer debacle was STEAMING REEKING WRESTLECRAP and will go down as one of my all time least favorite angles EVER. Stink Stank Stunk, A V O I D! I rather liked his face runs! I feel his style and general demeanor lent itself better to being a baby face, the character was better suited as a fan favorite and the ring work was more enjoyable as well. We all need heroes to cheer for and Sgt. Slaughter made for a rather good one. The feud with The Iron Sheik in '84 was ULTRA HOT! The Sarge wasn't flashy by most accounts but he had a great spot where he would let the opponent throw him hard into the corner and would then launch himself up and over into the ringside area (the most high profile example is Royal Rumble 92) and stuff like that always ages well. If you stay far and away from his Aug '90-Mar '91 (discounting Survivor Series 1990), you have a rather solid and mostly fun career to look back on. 8.5 rounded up.

2923.07.2022Leth993.0Very bad as a wrestler, I know he's from a different generation but he has no in-ring ability. He can talk, so that's about it. To think he wrestled so many years after '97. Tho since he was a legend it's justified
3023.07.2022Sirius3D7.0Ein Kind des Business.... Was hat er nicht alles gemacht. Talente bzw. Hab ihn immer gerne gesehen. Ein Old Schooler vor dem Herrn. Top Typ !

4809.03.2020Liam Willows9.0Now , Sgt. Slaughter knew how to work a crowd. When I was a child and my grandmother would show me old wrestling matches , I absolutely despised him as a heel. He did his job exceptionally well. I now have youTube where I can watch his matches and promo's , and he still holds up as being awesome.
4912.02.2020rainmakerpunk3.0The gimmick is stupid and in ring he's really bad, horrible choice for a top guy, he's nothing but a joke

5112.08.2019KyleEnjoysWrestling7.0One of the most iconic faces during the Rock & Wrestling era. Actually, I dare say he's one of the most recognizable faces of wrestling's history. He could really rile up the crowd whether he was a face or a heel. Even during his younger days of the early 80s, he was not a whole lot in the ring & even Hogan was a gem compared to Slaughter. But he's mostly known for the character work.

5419.05.2019Doshin929.0Maybe not the best In-Ring Worker but great at getting reactions from the fans and on the microfon. A total wrestling legend who even made a little Main-Stream impact.
5520.03.2019zephyr6.0An alright brawler with the classic old school "America vs Not America" gimmick. Not very enjoyable to me as a non-American.
5608.10.2018JEK 19918.0Great in most areas of wrestling. He was excellent in promos, submission moves, takedowns, and his character, etc. The man is a patriotic wrestler. He could sell outs stadiums and arenas very well. He was excellent as a tweener meaning heel and babyface and playing them very well. That is rare for any wrestler. You could love him or really hate him. The GI Joe TV show help him become more of a star. His matches with Pat Patterson, Iron Sheik, Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan were excellent. He invited the Boot Camp match which he first did in 1981 with Pat Patterson at MSG. As well as the first wrestler to have entrance music. His Cobra Clutch challenge was interesting. In 1990 when betrayed the USA and joined forces with Iraq as he reached his biggest peak and became WWF Champion. I personally like his matches better in the early 80's. As an Iraqi sympathizer he played his character very wel. l In 1991 he became a babyface once again and stuck to it turning on General Adan and Colonel Mustafa. In 1997 he was great as a commissioner and feuded with DX. That match he had with Triple H was amazing. He wrestled well into his 60's. He is also great as a road agent.

6117.12.2017NYGiants56801310.0Sarge was great in the AWA but really kicked it up a notch with the WWF machine behind him in his war with The USA and Hogan. Remus wasn't the best technically sound worker however he was a top guy everywhere he went and put asses in seats and drew $$$. What else you want? Thank you Fuck you Bye

6817.10.2016Squared Circle10.0Great wrestler, with a nice arsenal of power moves. Very good on the mic and generated heat where ever he went. Great runs against Hogan, Iron Sheik, Zbysko and Ultimate Warrior. Main Event talent in both WWF and AWA. His feud with the Iron Sheik was epic. He was just about to build up a great feud with Big John Studd when his WWF days fell apart. It's curious where his WWF career would have went at that time. He had all the earmarks of being the second main event hero, much like Strongbow was to Bruno. Great career. Great body of work. Easy 10.

7114.07.2016The Chosen One5.0Sgt. Slaughter was defiantly a good brawler and had good mic skill and charisma. He could put on a good match like when he faced Pat Patterson and The Iron Sheik. I would rate Sarge higher but I just cant get passed the fact that he was a horrible technical wrestler and wasnt really good at anything else than just brawling.
7201.07.2016TheGoat8.0I am surprised to see Sarge rated so low. In his prime (80-91) he could flat out go. One of the better brawlers of his era. He could seamlessly transition his gimmick from heel to face when needed.

7930.10.2015mdkarl10.0Its ridiculous to see almost a 100 people rating Slaughter below an 8. The guy transcended the wrestling business to get a very high profile gig with GI JOE. His popularity became so high that he was starting to challenge Hogan as the top babyface in WWE before his attempts to unionize the boy's greased his exit from the company. Slaughter's gimmick could draw heal heat intense enough to cause riots. His main event matches either as a tag team against Steamboat or as a single star against Warrior were big enough to head line any PPV. It makes a mockery of the whole rating system here if most of these people rating slaughter are likely doing it when they see him in his 50's making special appearances as part of WWE's front office.
