Unfortunately, a fairly limited moveset and poor promo abilities kept him stapled to a silly "lackey/sidekick" type role for better wrestlers, and I wish we lived in a reality where he was able to transcend that. I loved his runs with both companies, WWE and TNA. I didn't follow most of his TNA career cause I took a long break from watching TNA from June 2007 to August 2009, but I know that he was a tag team champion with AJ Styles at one point so he definitely had a better run in TNA than WWE even though his run in WWE was great too in the beginning when he was aligned with Christian. But when he came back to TNA, he was used for a small amount of time as a babyface and then became a heel with him being the mystery man that kept attacking AJ Styles. But then when AJ Styles turned heel at Genesis in his match with Kurt Angle for the world championship, I was worried on where that would leave Tomko since he was the heel feuding with AJ and AJ was the babyface obviously. I mean don't get me wrong, AJ's heel turn at Genesis was great and well done and all but after that, i kind of figured that they wouldnt use Tomko much at all because of that and it ended up leading to Tomko's 2nd TNA release which is very unfortunate cause Tomko deserves so much better than that. |
