[9.0] "Man, I wish I paid more attention to this guy as a kid. Terry Gordy was a beast in the ring. An awesome brawler and powerhouse, plus a great promo, he's definitely my favorite Freebird. Just a rough, tough Southerner who could beat the hell out of anyone. Doesn't look like your average wrestler, but he was very well versed and could do pretty much anything. Love his tag team work and his promos, the van promo is too damn funny. It's a shame though that he had an overdose that turned him into a vegetable, his run as The Executioner was unfortunate and really was a big 'what if' scenario, had he been 100%. But that doesn't change his previous accomplishments, and Gordy was a special talent."

Fine tag wrestler of the 80's but his substance abuse trashed him around 1993 and he was a shadow of his former self."

[9.0] "Probably the best big brawlin' stompin' no f#cks given Bulls of the ring. That being said, I did NOT like his team with Steve Williams. The Steiner feud with them was a MISTAKE. Hard pass. Not my thing - whole point deduction. His Freebird era is a goldmine and is well worth revisiting. Terry was the muscle, *ahem* Terry was enough muscle for 2 and half all on his own. Terry was a true FORCE in the ring and had almost no equal (Bruiser Brody is the equal). While I am usually not a fan of this style as I prefer things to be more competitive (hence my displeasure for the Miracle Violence Connection), Gordy is quite compelling! The man has done some very underrated baby face work against monster heels that I think get's overlooked. I find myself always getting into his blood feud with Killer Kahn; and I like neither Kahn nor blood feuds! His mic skills oozed of confidence and personality - none quite like him and his delivery was always THERE. It was a "blink and you missed it" moment, but his team with Shaun Simpson was a fun "David and Goliath" team I wish had lasted longer. Unfortunately the end of his career was very sad, and I do not recommend you watch that very late stuff. But yah Terry Gordy, a solid 9!"

[9.0] "For a guy his size and height, Terry was a brilliant wrestler, not only being able to work long and brutal matches, but also able to pull off some surprisingly fast counters with a unique pace: I don't think I've quite seen anyone work like him since then. He's (mostly) known for his tag matches, but had some terrific runs in Japan as well, particularly in AJPW, where he even managed to get the Triple Crown for himself. While I never really thought of him as a main event talent, I definitely think he could have a run at one of the top promotions for sure. His legacy is somewhat marred by his drug abuse and rapid decline in ring quality, however that doesn't negate the quality of his early stuff. Definitely underrated as a performer."

His time with the Freebirds, Steve Williams, Japan and UWF were successful. Unfortunately he was not give a push in his singles career. He was shown more as a tag team specialist. Who knows what would have happened if he was successful as a singles? Never liked the Executioner they did for him in WWF."

[10.0] "Of all the wrestlers I have looked on here I am most surprised by Terry Gordy's ranking. He is 10 in my book and maybe as good as any super heavyweight I ever saw. Simple a great wrestler, his athleticism and high impact offense stood out but so did his character. Being the enforcer of the Freebirds, and solid on the mic even though Michael Hayes dominated much of the talking and promos of the legendary trio. I lived in Oklahoma and witnessed his UWF run as champion. The heat he drew opposing the Von Erichs in Texas by itself was legendary. The run he had with Steve "Dr. Death" Williams in Japan was also the thing of legends as well. The only place he went were he didn't see success was the WWF, and as history tellsit that had to do more with Hayes' issue with Andre the Giant. Bam Bam you are missed!"

He, for a big man could move fantastic in the ring & go with any style ya brought at him. For the big 3 promotions (WWE/F, NWA, AWA) to never give him the strap is a crime."

[9.0] "As a kid i didnt really get gordy. I didnt like his look. He wasnt a talker. He wasnt charasmatic to me as a singles star. This is more of a judgement on me than gordy. Gordy would go on to be one of the most respected kick-butt brawlers in the sport for most of the next 2 decades. His greatest success was probably in japan but his feud in texas with the von erichs was the top feud in wrestling for a couple years. Gordy waa never the type of guy wwe wanted because of his physique and below average mic skills, but in a more hardcore wrestling territory this guy was money."

[9.0] "Terry Gordy was 1 of the best tag team wrestlers ever. He was in a very good tag team in The Fabulous Freebirds, but he was also in possibly the best tag team in the early 1990s, with Dr Death Steve Williams. On top of this, he was also a very strong singles competitor during his time in All Japan Pro Wrestling. He's unfortunately another example of a career that could have been amazing, but was then corrupted by drugs. Up until his drug overdose in 1993, he spent about 4-5 years working excellent matches that still live up to today's expectations, and after his overdose, he was a shell of his former self. The Terry Gordy that wrestled in WWE, ECW and IWA Japan, wrestling-wise, was not the same Terry Gordy that beat Jumbo Tsuruta for the triple crown title. A 9 for his career in All Japan, minus 1 for post 1993."

Selbst wenn er nur einen Armlock verkauft, jauchzt das Publikum vor Freude, weil er in allem so überzeugend war. Auch sein Look erzählte bereits die ganze Geschichte seines Charakters - ein weiterer großer Pluspunkt."
