Brian Cage

"[5.0] His moveset is decent, When wrestling he doesn't have any psychology to it. Bland ah "Strong, Jacked, Bodybuilder" type of character and he's part of faction that has too many people in front of him (promo, wrestling etc.). For example i got more intimidated by Mark Davis than him, Kyle Fletcher miles ahead in ring skills by a lot. I don't like the way he sell a move. Everytime he sell a move he move like 0.5x slower than his base speed. I mean when he does the moves it looks okay but nothing more than that."

[7.0] "His look elevates him beyond his abilities in the ring and on the mic. Don't get me wrong, he's decent to good overall, but he'd be totally lost in the shuffle if he didn't look like Mr Olympia."

[8.0] "I feel like there is two competing camps with Brian Cage, the side that says he's just a boring body guy and nothing else, and the side that says he has the best physique ever in wrestling history and he should be the world champ. I'm somewhat in the middle. Make no mistake Cage isn't someone I've ever found very interesting as a character. He isn't a very good promo, and he's very basic as far as his personality. On the other hand, he is a novelty in the ring as a body guy that can really move and do flips and exciting stuff rather than your typical strongman fair. He's seriously impressive, although I think he lacks a bit of psychology and can still get lost sometimes in a match. Overall I think you have to respect what he's done in wrestling, being at it this long at multiple levels and always being a positive presence on whatever show he's on."

[7.0] "He's pretty good. I wish he got to do more since he was a background character in the DCF but when he does come back I hope he gets a singles run."

[7.0] "Cage plays his role great, imo. He's very good for stables where he can sort of be the mini-boss before the final battle. I think he's got some great power moves as well."

[4.0] "Not a huge fan of that guy. I understand he loves the company and well, kinda good for him I guess, but not only he injured himself so much due for his size, strengh and athletic body, he is not so attractive to me. Never was, even at Team Taz in early pandemic era."

[4.0] "He's fine, good look. Doesn't move me much at all though. He has some highs in his career, couple really good matches. But nothing crazy. He's really just got his look, everything else is kinda average."

[6.0] "I know this sounds harsh, but even though he LOOKS like a pro wrestler and is decent in the ring, nothing quite fits into place. He's not great on the mic and his moveset just doesn't make sense, maybe he's pandered too much to the indie fans but something doesn't quite click, he should feel like more of a star than he does."

[3.0] "Cage isn't a good wrestler, as he seemed to want to do moves instead of telling a story in a match. I did eventually start getting enjoyment seeing Cage sell for guys way smaller than him. Cage certainly transformed since I first saw him on NWA Showcase, getting jacked. He looks far better than he ever did, but he never used his physique to its full potential. Cage can do some cool moves, and his spots are special because of his strength. While it's impressive when he flew around like the smaller guys, I felt he was more impressive when he was able to show off his power."

[2.0] "Brian Cage has a great monster look and is very athletic.that's basically it. While he should be portrayed as a monster heel, he does high flying moves when he shouldn't really. His matches are a compilation of moves with zero psychology , he doesn't have the promo ability noir the charisma to build something good. There was a point in time Lucha Underground found the perfect way to utilise him, but that didn't work out well either. A great athlete, and could've worked in wrestling, but ruined himself."

[8.0] "I think Brian Cage is a great powerhouse and very exciting to watch in the ring, whether in singles or tag matches. This guy also has an insane physique and he's putting on very solid tag matches in AEW. I've never seen him promo before but I'd rather watch someone who's good in the ring and can't talk over someone who can talk but can't wrestle."

[5.0] "He's good inside the ring, he's athletic, powerful and all but I have a hard time to find his work compelling because he doesn't have a once of charisma, he's not good on the mic and his character isn't interesting at all. I have never been a fan of him"

[6.0] "Not a guy that excites me very much, but definitely a good powerhouse, with an impressive look. I think he's a credible mid carder and I can't think of many better powerhouses than him to have around."

[7.0] "Brian Cage has a pretty good look and physique for a pro wrestler albeit he's probably closer to 5'9 than he is to 6'0 - and that probably holds him back from being seen as big of a freak of nature as he actually is. He has a really good moveset, is always fun, but hasn't been booked like he was in Lucha Underground and has a ceiling in a bigger promotion, but can be a top guy for a smaller promotion, so in a weird place. Glad he's found a home in AEW and think he should settle in the future as one of the top beasts who is meant to be overcome by younger guys."

[3.0] "he's a bad wrestler with a meaningless gimmick and no charisma. he's big and looks mean and thats about it. His matches are soulless compilation of moves, with no psychology or selling involced. He also thinks he should be a top guy for some reason. He has nothing going for him. Well, excepts roids"

[7.0] "unfortunately didn't get to breakout when he peaked in ability and physique and now he's a good hand, used to do some amazing move, always have a poor promo, left a good mark throughout his career"

[7.0] "Maintain that Cage shouldn't be jobbing to guys 100lbs smaller than him and should be booked more favourably. Nothing revolutionary but he does the big bad meathead pretty well. Generally makes the other dude look good regardless of size, did a lot of the assisted strength work against Swerve on Dynamite recently in making the champ look great. Moveset is at least interesting, his outside to in, deadlift suplex tremendous and Drill Claw a good finisher, when utilised."

[4.0] "He's not very good, to be honest. Being a big guy and capable of doing a moonsault is great and all, but that's literally all he is. Could really be a big name, but clearly lacks the ability in-ring and on the mic. Has a great look, but again, that's it."

[4.0] "Great body but that is about it for Brian Cage. There was a novelty with Cage that a guy this jacked was doing lucha libre but once youve seen it you get the idea. I enjoyed his run with Elgin in PWG as two big guys tossing around the usually smaller independent roster but that was awhile ago now. Cage has definitely hit his ceiling."

[4.0] "Is Brian Cage a competent wrestler - Yes. Do I enjoy watching him? Well very occasionally. He's a good hand to have on a roster when you need a big beefy boy, but he just lacks something that would propel him much higher up cards and ratings. It's probably charisma, but who knows."

[5.0] "Brian cage is an interesting wrestler to rate, While impressive in the ring and can do a lot of things that can make you go OH WOW he has no personality and no real psychology in the ring and is only good for a good gimmick match where he can show off with a moonsault or catching someone in mid air, while good in Impact and Lucha Underground, His AEW run was very short lived in term of him as a main eventer as they beat him into the ground and is just now forgettable as a Six man tag champ in ROH."

[7.0] "Good in ring talent. Cage has good athleticism for a man his size and a good power move set. He is better with a manager as he is not the greatest on the mic. Needs to be booked like a proper monster heel because that is his most effective role."

[6.0] "Brian Cage has a great look, and some decent in-ring skills, but after that, I'm not sure. He definitely needs a manager, otherwise, he feels somewhat pointless. So far, in AEW, he has been put in some decent positions. They know what to do with him, except when they cut him from Team Taz, because not much came out of that. As long as he stays where he is, Cage will be fine."

[4.0] "A really great look but that's where it stops for Cage. No charisma or promo ability but looks threatening enough to get over as an intense powerhouse, but unfortunately for him he likes to dip too much into the high flying game so he squanders his one asset."

[5.0] "He can do several great spots/moves like the moonsault, shooting star push, top con hilo, and so on. The issue here is that he lacks psychology and is unsure what to do in the absence of high points. His sales are basically non-existent. His bouts are quite hit-or-miss. They may sometimes feel like a whole movefest showcase with no storyline. A 5 for athletic ability and physical fitness. If you want to see the definition of an indie movefest, go no further than this man.""

[4.0] "Brian Cage is a guy who seems like he should be a lot better than he actually is. He is an athletic powerhouse, but he has no charisma whatsoever and seems to have a very limited understanding of how to structure a match. His strikes look awful (especially his kicks), and he is often more concerned with demonstrating his athletic ability than actually putting together a decent match. The only thing stopping me from giving him a lower rating is that he is capable of doing good work when he has the right opponent or is in a promotion that prevents him from playing in to his worst tendencies - his early Lucha Underground work, for instance, was pretty strong. When left to his own devices, however, Brian Cage is a very flawed professional wrestler."

[7.0] "Not very much a persona but pretty good in-ring. Can hold his own with some of the best in AEW and can bring certain opponents up in matches. My favorite match of his is against Adam Page at DON 2021"

[5.0] "He is only capable of doing one match with a barebones persona, and while that one match can work when booked correctly, he is not a guy made for TV wrestling. You should see him once every two years at your local indie show and be monumentally impressed by him in those instances. Seeing him regularly exposes his weaknesses."

[5.0] "Brian cage is mid at best. pretty boring character. no in-ring psychology with a move set that doesn't make sense at all."

[6.0] "It's tough to rate Cage. On one hand, he as a great look that makes him look like a tough guy without needing the height to go with it, he has the raw power and the athleticism a guy his size should not have, but he's just so bland. He just joined some new faction and I haven't seen him since ROH is basically a glorified tape library with titles now. He would be better suited going to WWE where guys like him are sought after but he's a bit too much of a spot monkey to be taken seriously like he should be. He's such a good all around in-ring worker with the look of a star so it's a shame that he's wasting that potential in a place that doesn't know how to book big guys."

[6.0] "Cage is clearly talented and very athletic. He can do a lot of things guys his size aren't supposed to do while keeping up a powerhouse role. However, he doesn't have much charisma and lacks decent mic work. In the ring he can deliver at times but most of the time his matches are above average at best but rarely anything special or a must see unless paired with someone that is truly great. He's more of a supporting role and it's easy to see why he has struggled in AEW. With ROH relaunching I think he's best suited there. Overall, he's solid but his lack of charisma really drags him down and he gets lost in the sea of more talented stars and is unable to separate himself."

[7.0] "Cage is going to leave AEW and people are going to either say he was underutilized and should've been on TV, or that he was never worth the hype in the first place. The truth is not every wrestler is fit for weekly television, and Cage is one of those guys. Cage will always be a utility wrestler that can pull out a banger if you need it on your indie show, but asking any more from him is overestimating his value. Good look and good workrate, but sorely lacking in any kind of presence or personality."

[6.0] "I like a lot of Brian Cage's matches, but as an overall performer, he doesn't do it for me. He has NO charisma, it's like he's a black hole of any kind of noticeable human emotion. I've never even seen him cut a promo, let alone a good one. He has literally no heat in any match I've seen. That's not to say I don't like his in-ring work, again, he's put on some pretty incredible matches. But overall, he's got the Michael Elgin syndrome going. Lots of potential that he just could never really fulfill."

[6.0] "Cage is the best a guy can be while still remaining "just a guy". He's always been right below the surface of being a truly good wrestler, just held back by a few issues that haunt his performances. Obviously, he has a great look; "The Swolverine" and "The Machine" are fitting titles. He's also got some great strength displays, because how couldn't he with a physique like that. The issue with Cage is that he feels far too indy-oriented, being far too prone to hit a flurry of strikes with underwhelming impact and obvious leg-slap sound effects, resulting in the majority of his strikes looking weak. This feels especially egregious and disappointing because he's such a massive dude that I'm sure he could get some absolutely ridiculous impact in his strikes à la Michael Elgin if he simply bothered to, so he stands out quite oddly as this big and powerful dude who for some reason instead delivers strikes as if he's some generic NXT-tier high-flyer. There's also the issue that Cage often seems to just hit moves for the sake of it, going for multiple strikes or power moves with such speed as if he's in a race, not taking enough time and care to ensure that each move gets the most impact (and therefore the most significance) that it could. He can still impress me with some of his bigger power moves, but his inclination to go for that "indy work-rate" style of quantity over quality leaks in too often for me to consider him a truly impressive performer. He's still quite good, and even quite unique with how he manages to be so agile and athletic despite his immensely muscular body, but I'd really prefer if he just worked on these few issues so that he can really achieve his true potential."

[7.0] "Became a fan of Cage in Lucha Underground. Bodybuilder physique but still athletic. I love his innovative moveset. His flaws are more apparent in AEW. Not a good promo and feels unnatural playing a babyface."

[8.0] "You look to Brian cage, his intimidating look. His skill set and wonder how could Tony khan ruin something like him then you watch him for one single promo and you know why Brian cage could never be a star on his own since I heard he doesn't want anyone to manage him....... I hope he can get to a good terms to be used."

[6.0] "He's talented in the ring but besides that I'm not sure how he fits into AEW. Zilch in charisma and usually needs whoever he's working with to carry him in a program."

[8.0] "I wouldn't say he is terrible on the mic but he definitely isn't amazing. His in-ring work and his look are what sell it though, he is extremely ripped and can still pull off faster moves than other giants/monsters."

[5.0] "Zero personality and very little charisma. He's disturbingly jacked and surprisingly athletic, but his matches have nothing of substance."

[8.0] "I think his in ring work is good enough for me to overlook his absolute lack of charisma. When he gets to show out he really impresses."

[6.0] "It's not enough to have a beautiful body and speed to be considered a good big guy today, because we can enjoy such charismatic self-sufficient guys like WALTER. Brian doesn't look like a big star, he has no charisma and his matches are very monotonous."

[7.0] "I like Brian Cage quite a bit, especially during his time in Lucha Underground. He looks like a billion dollars, he has a moveset that reminds me a lot of a young Scott Steiner, and I think he's finally starting to get something going in AEW."

[6.0] "His work in Lucha Underground was pretty good. In AEW he's just kind of there. No charisma to speak of, either on the mic or in the ring. He can pull some decent matches, but most of the time he's just booked to squash guys. His AEW run is really flat so far."

[8.0] "He's got a great dynamic of being completely ridiculously muscled out and doing some lucha stuff. Wish he would get to wrestle more and maybe a babyface turn would be the key."

[6.0] "His physique is Impressive but his in ring skills are not. Been doing the same act for years and has always been pushed wherever he goes."

[6.0] "Looks like a million bucks but the issues of his work become quickly noticed: dude gases out in anything longer than 10 or so minutes, probably because the gear he takes and the sheer mass he has effects his cardo badly. It also effects his wrestling style, which is mostly just spots after spots with no real rhyme or reason for why he does it beyond it getting a cheap pop. He's fine for a powerhouse and a guy his size doing some of the stuff he does is just crazy, but he lacks nothing of real substance to get him anywhere. He's bad on the mic, doesn't play a convincing face and his heel work is nearly non-existent beyond a few small mannerisms. A manager helps but it doesn't fix the big holes in his style, and his AEW work hasn't exactly convinced me otherwise."

[6.0] "He is actually good but AEW is not proving to be a good choice because the storylines are not good at all. When he debuted with a win at double or nothing that was the time they should have given him the title and made him the superior big heel. But currently things are not good with him Taz's alignment definitely feels better but he needs better storyline better competition better opportunities."

[5.0] "Brian Cage has a specific role and he's able to make sure that he fills it, but he's often the more lackluster of the big guys, especially in the current division of AEW. He's fine in Team Taz, fine in his matches with guys like Mox, and usually fine in promos, but he never feels like the wrestler you're coming to see."

[7.0] "A well rounded performer who isn't great at much of anything, but is pretty good at almost everything. Incredible look."

[7.0] "Good worker and can convincingly play a monster part. Definitely needs a manager due to his lack of mic skills. In AEW, he seems a little redundant with Lance Archer already playing the role of the unstoppable monster heel with a charismatic former wrestler as mouthpiece."
