[8.0] "Wasn't he a boxing ring announcer too? He's pretty iconic Ring Announcer in the sport. One of the best"

[8.0] "One of the most recognizable announcers, who worked for some time in WCW and announcing, mainly, big matches. Michael was able to energize the crowd and give the match more significance better than perhaps anyone else. He has a recognizable voice and pronunciation, and although he occasionally made mistakes, he was still remembered as an important figure in WCW."

[3.0] "A ring announcer with a fantastic voice, name recognition, and a cool catchphrase (that even spawned an N64 video game franchise), but his knowledge of wrestling was absolutely abysmal, which is indefensible considering how much WCW were paying him. Everyone knows his infamous gaffe of calling Bret Hart "Bret Clarke", but there were also tons of little screwups like claiming Goldberg's finisher was the "Inverted Slam". Would it have killed this guy to do the bare minimum of research beforehand?"

[10.0] "Often screwed up on Wrestlers' names and tended to ramble on his introductions, and probably ate up like 10% of WCW's monthly budget. But even so I really liked him announcing the Main Events, he really made it a "Big Fight" feel."

Paul Allain wrote on 30.08.2013:
[10.0] "There was a time when WCW seemed like the biggest wrestling company in the world, and a small part of it was due to Michael Buffer. The iconic "Let's Get Ready To Rumble" routine was used to great effect to make the main event seem like a REAL big thing, and it worked, because no ring announcer can match Buffer when it comes to prestance."
