[8.0] "A consistent highlight of North American women's matches in the 1980's. Equally gifted in both tag and singes wrestling but almost entirely used to put over bigger stars. Boots or no, Velvet had a knack for every phase of the game. Good offense, good selling, natural babyface fire, good look, dare we call her The Man of her era? Losing 17 times to Moolah, 22 times to Sherri and a lack of Japan work hurts her legacy, but Velvet was very talented and worth re-assessing."

[9.0] "Easily one of the best female wrestlers of her time and place, it's a very big shame that her time and place had so few opportunities for women in wrestling. If she'd gone over to Japan I think she would have been looked back on a lot more fondly, but so it goes."

Amazingly quick during her matches, a great technician, an very agile athlete who could do picture-perfect looking dropkicks, a good seller and a wrestler who really knew how to bump. Her "cave-woman" like attire, along with the red hair and her barefoot work gave Velvet a unique look. McIntyre was a woman long-ahead of her time, and if it wasn't because of some of the dirty politics backstage and her early retirement, she could be remembered today in a much more fair way. Velvet McIntyre is, without a shall of a doubt, one of the most underrated talents of the '80s."

[6.0] "The WWF/E's original Irish lass, Velvet McIntyre had a good long run with the company in the '80s, as well as making some appearances with the AWA and Stampede Wrestling. A solid hand in the ring, Velvet was often cast as a supporting player on the babyface side of tag matches, or as a worthy opponent for prominent heels, and had a run with the WWF World Women's Tag Title and a short run with the Women's singles belt. After the WWF stopped supporting its women's division by the end of the '80s, Velvet kicked around the Canadian indies well into the '90s, most prominently working for ECCW before calling it a career in 1998 to focus on family."

[6.0] "I think she deserves a little better than the 4. 0 rating she has been given. Since she wrestled in the 80's and 90's some info is sketchy, unconfirmed or missing so she has accomplished more than what is listed here. She was a pretty good worker overall in my opinion."
