Bryce Remsburg

"Jesus and Satan themselves could be wrestling for free in my bedroom and I still probably wouldn't go as long as Bryce Remsburg was officiating it. Loud, obnoxious and constantly trying to get himself over. Just watch the end of Kingston/Quackenbush or the fatal 4 way at Forbidden Door 2022 and you'll see what I mean. If I was a wrestler and he tried that really annoying and drawn out "OOOOOOOOONNNAAAAA...... TWOOOOOAAAAAAA........THREEEEEEAAAAA" and Danielson vs Gracia 7/27/22 he just keeps saying "WHATS WRONG WITH YOU WHATS WRONG WITH YOU" in his cartoonish high pitched voice. bullshit I wish he would retire. And when he does an MJF match. Dear god just kill me now. I've only heard him on commentary once and he wasn't as annoying but still pretty mediocre. He's the worst referee of all time."

[0.0] "A referee getting in the heels face and yelling "what are you gonna do about it? " during the main event of a pay-per-view is completely absurd. I'm not sure if the objective was to draw a cheap pop or try and get himself over but the last thing I want is a referee pulling that kind of theatrics. I generally dislike a referee who makes themselves any more visible than they absolutely need to and while there are a handful of officials in AEW that fit that bill I'm not sure if anyone does it as consistently and as egregiously as Bryce. His mannerisms and facial expressions are way too goofy way too often and I'm just left scratching my head every time I see this guy standing in the ring during a main event match. I try not to get distracted by officiating in wrestling matches but sometimes it's just too much for me to handle."

[8.0] "I really like Bryce, a good referee with a nice personality, he also really looks like a great guy. I'm mad when he gets distracted that easily, but he also kicked out many managers and people during matches."

[1.0] "Legitimately the worst ref I've ever seen. Normally you would think that a referee can't be as bad as I make him seem to be but Remsburg just seems to want to get himself over. He's not very subtle, his gestures and reactions are too flamboyant in order to be a referee (who's supposed to emit authority). However, the one thing that inspired me to write this review are his three counts when a guy seems to be unconscious. He raises the arm, lets it fall, dramatically yells out "ONE" and then does the thing over and over again. It's impossible to suspend your disbelief that way and it makes the submission move look super dorky."

[3.0] "It's actually interesting how the main criticism of Bryce is that he's too much of a character instead of a ref. While I do think he does overreact and it does detract from the matches, my main issue with him is how he just isn't a good ref. He has a consistent history of botching finishes, near falls, and just botching as a ref, which is kinda hard to do. He's just not good and it seems like everyone loves him for just having been around the block more than a couple of times. That Mike Posey guy is what AEW needs more of, Remsburg just sucks as a ref, seems like a chill dude, but just fire him AEW."

[9.0] "Bryce Remsburg is everything you want in a ref. A rules-aware anti-tough guy who sells every high spot and gives a shit. Clearly favored by every 00's and 10's Mid-Atlantic indy guy that ever got to know him, CHIKARA and CZW alumni especially."

[9.0] "I enjoy Bryce's work. He's funny when he needs to be, and otherwise stays out of the way, just like I want from a ref."

[0.0] "Ref's can have shocked reactions in VERY SPECIAL moments only to elevate those moments that way we as viewers can understand the heftiness of said situation, however other THEN that, a referee like Remsburg's job is to keep perfect composure, and almost disappear as we focus on the wrestlers, yet he can't even count count outs properly or DQs, ENFORCING RULES is what made Flair-Steamboat matches so good, they abused those aspects, without those refs those classic matches wouldn't work, a referee is integral and this ref, as the 0 point rating says 'fails' in doing a good portion of his job most of the time. Refs are important, don't be lenient on them."

[0.0] "These ratings absolutely astound me. I cannot stand Remsburg & I think he's the worst referee in all of wrestling by miles. The most annoying thing that he constantly does is how he winces in pain every time a big move happen. He'll jump up, throw his head in his hands & act like a complete goof. To me, a referee should be able to have enough professional composer to not act like that. He's also the king of not calling DQs or countouts. AEW's refereeing has been a constant problem & it is clear to me that no one in that company is giving these guys pointers on what to do."

[10.0] "Funny and hilarious when needed to be but can be serious like in the Moxley/Kingston feud. Best referee in AEW"

[9.0] "I like him, he is one of the best referees I can remember seeing. I wish he would tone down the comedy acts in some situations, but admittedly he is very funny in those situations, so maybe it's just the old man in me talking. His AEW work so far has been stellar."

[10.0] "Possibly my favorite referee ever, he is able to be nearly invisible when needed but can also play a character, whether it's a comedic role or helping the heel gain heat by taking some abuse, and even once in a blue moon will hit a nice wrestling move in the spur of the moment! Extremely nice and pleasant guy as well to talk to at live shows, and enthusiastic and charming when in the booth. Big fan of this guy!"

[10.0] "One of my favorite refs of all time his his comedy timing. He can also be serious from his face when there is a close two or doing commentary insight into the matches."

[10.0] "Rarely does a referee stands out as adding to the wrestling product, as opposed to simply not getting in the way. But, Bryce Remsburg manages to do just that. Be it by laying the law of a match as an impartial official, by playing the babyface referee thwarting the interference of outsiders, by conveying the emotions of an unbelievable kick-out, by wholeheartedly participating in the comedy routine of Chikara or by providing energetic and passionate commentary on DVD, Bryce Remsburg constantly adds to the enjoyment of wrestling and makes it absolutly fun, which, in the end, it is all about."
