He peaked as an upper mid card performer in the WWWF, NWA and AWA. Later in his career be became a jobber to the stars in the WWF, AWA and NWA. He was part of some formidable tag teams, winning gold with Gene Anderson and Karl Gotch. He was also part of the French Connection with Andre in Japan. I was glad to see him wearing the gold blazer in the WWE as he certainly deserved a post ring career. If all you saw was him jobbing out in the WWE, you pretty much missed everything. |

It was my fav move, the claw, even though no one ever submitted to it. lol He had decent charisma and if you had PRISM or USA network back in the day you could usually see a good 10-15 minute match out of him as an opener on a card. |

Had some great matches with Ric Flair, Iron Sheik, Jim Brunzell and Ken Patera. Here's a fact he is the first one ever to beat Ric Flair. In WWF he was the second team along with Karl Gotch to win the tag belts in 1971. Great role as a jobber in WWF. Remembered for his claw hold and wearing a cape to the ring. You don't see it that much today. Very fast in the ring. Great at holds and high flying. He was a road agnet form 1987-1997 and made appearances in the back ground on PPV and Monday Night Raw. |
