The guy had a good look (great balance of presentable champion and rough & tumble fighter, as you'd expect from a pro footballer) and a very physical style for the time. His signature shoulder tackles that drew from his Football experience looked incredible, and he had great matwork, striking, and holds that allowed him to keep up with guys in other styles of wrestling. The things he was doing in the late 1930s blows my mind; without much change he could've done just fine in a modern context. Absolutely worthy to be one of the men to have held the first true World Heavyweight Championship."
