Like Lance Storm is not saving a match with somebody slightly over the hill or a below-average wrestler, but when he gets a dance partner that works, he's brilliant. He's been opinionated since his retirement, but I think a lot of his views miss more than they hit."

The problem isn't that he just stuck with the wrestling aspect, the problem is he never evolved into anything else. Lance Storm is proof that just because Youre a fantastic wrestler from a technical standpoint, doesnt mean you can make it big time. To be fair though, after that horrible dance gimmick he had, maybe its good he was just another talented, run of the mill, nothing extraordinary superstar. Thats what I would be saying if that also was a negative. Lance Storm just felt destined to fail, outside his tag team with Justin Credible I hardly find myself intrigued to watch him. I might sound like Im hating but trust me, there isnt anything to hate about Storm, there just isnt much going for him either."

On the bright side, good wrestlers with no charisma are numerous and play an important role as enhancement talent. Stevie Richards and Simon Dean were a few other examples who can actually wrestle a good match but could never draw a dime to save their lives. People like seeing wrestlers who both have big personalities, a good look and an unparalled intensity, so just being good at wrestling is nowhere near enough."

It's a shame he came up in the wrong era, he would have done very well in today's wrestling scene. WCW and WWE did him dirty, for the most part."

He took himself and the pro wrestling business as a whole very seriously (pun intended, and that carried over in to his character. He didn't have any personality what so ever. He wasn't going to be someone to go out and do anything entertainment related (sing, dance, tell jokes, etc). However, he could wow you with the bell rang, you were almost guaranteed a good wrestling match from him every time regardless of the opponent because that's how talented of an in ring worker he was."

He somewhat reminds me of how many view insects - flawlessly built to mechanically achieve a specific task but possibly soulless/unable to deviate; I don't think it was possible to teach Lance Storm how to be emotionally engaging. Athletically gifted and technically sound but lacking some intangibles. Where he shines however, is in tag team encounters and dying days WCW."

[7.0] "I think Lance Storm's body of work is pretty underwhelming considering how high he's praised as a technical great. Maybe that's because he just came about at the wrong place, wrong time. I could see him fitting in many different eras of wrestling, but trying to be an up-and-coming technician on the end of ECW's peak and pre-ROH, he was between a rock and a hard place. Maybe if we got more than a stint in WAR and brief moments in ROH we would've seen more from him. I think Storm shows flashes of greatness, but it just isn't consistent to warrant a higher rating than 7."

To be fair, he was a tad bit lacking in the promo/charisma department but Lance found ways to incorporate that into his character as a heel. He's Mr. Canadian McScowlFace and he hates shenanigans, and will kick your goddamn face off. Lance has what is in my opinion, one of the absolute best superkicks in the business. Only HBK has him beat."

Lance Storm is an outstanding technician, a true master of the trade who executes every move with surgical precision and can work a great match against everyone. How come he is never regarded as one of the best? Because he´s "dull". If you want a big mouthed, ear drilling crowd favourite Lance Storm isn´t your cup of tea. IMHO skill is way more important than a loud gimmick (say hello, Enzo Amore! ), and Lance Storm has skill to spare. If I´m not mistaken, he said somewhere that if moves are done correctly it doesn´t have to happen anything bad. He hasn´t hurt anybody in the ring, and that´s a good indicator of his skill. That´s applicable to Bret Hart as well. But again, all the skill of the world can´t shine by itself. It needs charisma as well, not a stone facce capable of plowing through the ranks of professional poker players worlwide. I can´t help feeling a bit like "if only this guy could talk... ""

In the dying days of WCW, Storm's ability as a technician stood out clear as day, and while not a very charismatic personality, his promos were more than serviceable and actually quite effective. Always delivered good matches and played his given roles well, but was never given the ball to put on a truly classic match with anyone, unfortunately (though his ROH title match was just as excellent as the other title matches in the era of the company--super impressive for a non-active wrestler)."
