3 | 14.07.2025 | Moranjeboom | 8.0 | Eughhhh - it's hard to say. I genuinely can't think of a good Boogeyman match that he was directly responsible for, like he was never perfect in the ring but there's just...something about him that you can't quite take your eyes off. The worms make him unwatchable from a casual point of view but there is an excellent wrestler underneath that mask. It's just... it's the boogeyman! and i guess he's coming to get you... |

5 | 24.06.2025 | bherbert1980 | 4.0 | With a horror-movie entrance, smashed clock, and a mouthful of worms, he was unforgettable, if not exactly technically polished. His character thrived on shock value and theatricality, often used to spook or squash opponents rather than tell long-term stories. While never a serious title contender, The Boogeyman carved out a cult following thanks to sheer commitment to the bizarre. He wasn't a great wrestler but he was a great act |
6 | 02.05.2025 | maaxon | 2.0 | I'll give it to him when I say he's got great character work and he overall seems like a great guy, but outside of that he wasn't anything that good. I can't really tell what's more gross with him, whether that be his character or his matches. I guess I can give him props for being memorable, but that's not really always a positive. |
7 | 22.04.2025 | JackWatchesWrestling | 3.0 | You have to respect his dedication to the gimmick. Even all these years later he is walking around in full boogeyman make up and went to the full length of eating actual real worms to sell the chatacter. But was it worth it? He really isn't anything good in the ring. Once the bell rings he is more gross than he is entertaining. His matches are giant skips for me. |

9 | 07.04.2025 | MikEagle54 | 10.0 | The Boogeyman took part in the fourth season of WWE Tough Enough. On October 15, 2004, he attended the two-day event in Venice Beach, California, where he was among eight finalists chosen. After surviving the first day of eliminations he admitted that he was actually 40 years old--five years over the competition's cut off point--and not 30 as he'd claimed. As a result, he was cut from the competition. Though he had been cut from Tough Enough, WWE officials invited him to come to OVW for possible training. The Boogeyman has a great entrance and gimmick, crawling with his stick and human heart pendant, banging a clock on his head and eating worms. He's very intimidating with his facial expressions, make-up and white lense contacts. He was in very good physical shape for someone between 40 and 60. |

17 | 13.02.2025 | TwiggyShark | 4.0 | Boogeyman was just a Gimmick... but what a Gimmick! His presence alone made him a wrestling icon in the mid 2000's. Even people who don't watch wrestling anymore remember him, and today where all wrestlers wrestle the same and use the same moves, we are grateful that people like Marty Wright knew how to create something that immortalizes them in people's memories. And even though his matches were nothing special and only worked in a certain context, I feel that Boogeyman knew how to wrestle according to his character. But we can't be cynical and say that he gave us memorable matches... anyway, the wrestling world would be a much sadder place if it weren't for characters like The Boogeyman, and today his absence is felt. |

21 | 27.12.2024 | TripleCrown | 3.0 | Whilst the gimmick was cool, everything else was just far from it. Best part of watching Boogeyman on TV was his entrance, after that it just fell flat once the bell rang. Couldn't wrestle, couldn't talk, just looked like a gimmick and that was it. Most memorable thing I can remember is when he ate that thing off Jillian's face. Just seemed like a gimmick wrestler from the awful days of WWF in the early 90s transported into the modern era. Was a good gimmick to scare kids with, but that's literally it. |

29 | 25.10.2024 | Red Mage Riot | 7.0 | Miserable worker, obviously, but a very fun to watch gimmick that was exactly the right kind of "pro wrestling stupid" that is always fun to watch. You could do way worse for lower card eye-catching guys than The Boogeyman, who was 100% into the gimmick. |
30 | 16.09.2024 | ChadCash | | HAS to be in the conversation for the worst professional wrestler of all time. Horrible gimmick and even worse in ring. I know he didnt start until his 40s but he moved around like he was in his 60s. I will give him a point because from all reports he is a very nice guy, and he also deserves props for being fired and re-hired (with a pay rise) by John Lauranitus in the space of a few weeks. |
31 | 09.09.2024 | maven lover | 3.0 | Genuinely a wrestler that is really difficult to write a review for. I'm glad this guy's time in WWE was limited; he was a completely unremarkable worker (& in interviews, he admits as much), with a gimmick that was so strange, it defied logic. I've never seen The Boogeyman on my TV and been genuinely scared. He put on black/yellow/red/white facepaint (an awful color combination), wore leather pants, had a staff, shot red smoke & hit a clock on his head to pyro & ate worms; & that was the entire gimmick. The WWE, for reasons I can not rationalize, found it suitable to add a strong comedy bent to this gimmick, a combination like onions & chocolate. I never found his backstage stuff funny, & since his character was mostly mute, I was never able to learn about the character's true motivations, to be scared of. This gimmick was just so confusing, & I didn't understand what emotions I was supposed to be feeling while watching. A positive highlight for me would have to be the Boogeyman & Little Boogeyman vs. Finlay & Hornswoggle bit, a massive guilty pleasure of mine just because it was so brazenly over-the-top ridiculous. I didn't even find the King Booker vs. Boogeyman stuff very funny. Marty was barely competent in ring, but that's really about it. |

Obviously its a stupid silly gimmick, but so what? I found entertaining. I think the only reason it didnt go far is because hes just not that great in the ring. But damn man, you had a lot of memorable moments with him. Eating Jillians giant mole is EASILY one of the most disgusting moments in WWE history. Even Tommy Dreamer drinking Takers tobacco spit doesnt make me shiver like I do with that. His backstage segments were always funny to me. I really like his theme song too btw. Kinda an underrated banger. Him hitting himself with the clock was very unique. I wonder where he got the idea from. But yeah, definitely a memorable character. |

37 | 09.08.2024 | AVERAGEWRESTLINGFAN | 7.0 | Even if he had a very dumb gimmick I still really love him and his matches. Him eating worms and having that staff just added to the kinda cheesy but really fun gimmick. Is he the best in the ring? No. Is he a supernatural character to go crazy for? Definitely not but even then I just have to much fun watching anything he does. |

It was just the amount of hokey that was needed during the mid-2000s that I feel is left memorable even now that people can look back on and remember. Whether its good or bad is obviously to the individual but for me I enjoyed it, moveset wise he was unique enough in the ring to get the job done. I feel they could have given him more to do. |

And Martin Wright plays the character of the Boogeyman brilliantly, sometimes weird, sometimes disgusting, but exactly as it should be. Certainly not everyone will enjoy this entertainment, but in my opinion The Boogeyman, as a character appearing from time to time, is something interesting and noteworthy. I'd love to see The Boogeyman vs Bray Wyatt in a Casket Match where the coffin is filled with worms. |

Putting live worms in his mouth was unhealthy, unsanitary and disgusting to watch. He himself suggested the gimmick and he is quite gutsy to do it but I wasn't a fan. In the SVR games, his character challenges Undertaker, that's the most interesting story involving Boogeyman man; It was unfortunate that he didn't live up to his hype. |
94 | 08.02.2022 | zacharymahabir | 6.0 | On this day, Boogeyman himself tweeted out that he signed a contract with WWE for some amount of work, so I am reminded of the Keeper of Worms himself. Excellently played gimmick that was booked well. I was 10 in 2006 and this guy was scary as all hell. They never had him work a bunch, so any lack of go/in-ring quality was lost on most who saw him. Satisfactory, indeed. |
