Lanny Poffo

[9.0] "I had to edit this again because I feel there should be more love given to Lanny Poffo. A forward thinker in terms of offense, one of the innovators of aerial assaults. In the top tier of smoothest, most fluid grapplers of his time. One of THE BEST working punches in ALL of wrestling history. Look at his working punch. Study it. The Genius was a great irritating heel but he was hastily placed in a managerial role, I don't think the Fed' did as well as they could have with "The Genius". Matches against your favorites are highly recommended, matches against nobodies are surprisingly good and he was often able to drag something decent out of some POOR competition. Notably great at being a loser. I really like his overall work - it's aged wonderfully. Aside from The Genius, its nothing but the highest of bell to bell check marks."

"Not gonna rate because I've never seen him wrestle. But I'm watching a lot of old WWF recently and I just want to point out how pretty this dude is. Like seriously, I'm a lesbian but this dude is gorgeous. He has such beautiful eyes and an adorable smile and really nice hair. idk, man, he's just an aesthetically pleasing guy."

[6.0] "Lanny was a good worker, super athletic, had a beautiful dropkick. And he did a great job with the gimmick he had and made a really fun heel too. I think he did just about as well as he could of in the WWF."

[7.0] "Probably only known as Randy's brother but was a skilled worker in his own right, was a gymnast before training as a wrestler which explains his athleticism. Lanny did a lot of interviews in his later years and came across as an intelligent, well spoken person, he was a great "spokesman" for the Poffo wrestling family. RIP."

[7.0] "A very athletic man for his time, he also had some good matches with some of his peers. I also enjoyed his Genius gimmick. Also may say he was one of the best jobbers in the 1980s WWF."

[5.0] "A very agile wrestler for his time in the mid 80's and he could do some of the luchadore style stuff that became popular in the mid-late 90's. His poems were usually great and his sissy heel mannerisms were always entertaining. Great at annoying the audience, he's even annoying the PC crowd to this day so I guess his heel work was a success!"

[6.0] "Lenny achieved more success, first performing at a home territories in a team with his brother, and then as a Genius in WWF. A good speaker whose hobby was composing poetry, which he often used in his gimmicks, as well as a good enhancement talent who made his opponents look good. Well, as well as a rather lucky person who has received money from a big company for several years just sitting at home."

[6.0] "I loved Lanny Poffo as a wrestler before I ever knew he was Randy Savage's brother. He had a gift of high-flying before that became a thing, but he seemed to tone his style down when he became The Genius and aligned with Mr. Perfect. I have very little memory of him managing the Beverly Brothers, so he must not have been that effective in that role. Still, I have a soft spot for Leaping Lanny matches."

[2.0] "Some physical talent, okish on the mic. No one ever bought a ticket because he was on the card. Mid card jobber with a gimmick. Not my favorite."

[6.0] "Adequate enough as an enhancement talent/jobber to the stars. He was good, but not great like his big bro Macho Man."

[7.0] "The Genius was a good worker, and an even better talker. He made for a great heel manager, and his work as Mr. Perfect's first manager was good stuff. But, much like Lanny's in-ring abilities, was overshadowed by others. His skills as a worker, by his brother Randy and his skills as a manager by Bobby Heenan. Two men who really outshine pretty much everyone else in their field anyway so nothing to be ashamed about I say."

[3.0] "He could do aerial moves and give himself a bj, well congratulations, successful wrestlers had female fans, wives and girlfriends to do it for them. But I guess that is where his talent was, so good for him. I have never seen an ounce of charisma in that guy, although he sort of acted, as if he had plenty of it. that voice of his is dreadful to listen to and those moronic poems he would read were pathetic (yes, both moronic and pathetic - did he write them on the way to the ring? If he at least freestyled them, but he actually wrote them down and they were obviously the best he could do). I did not pay enough attention to him to figure out, whether he was embarrassing himself on purpose, or despite his best efforts. I have always been embarrassed for him, whenever he opened his mouth (this is not a bj joke, I meant whenever he had an actual mic in front of his face). Let me put it this way - if he was a mute, just based on his in ring work, I could probably give him a 6, for what it s worth."

[7.0] "The Genius was a good gimmick to begin with. Had decent aerial skills for his time. Will just be remembered as Randy Savages brother."

[7.0] "Very underrated during his early years as "Leaping" Lanny, considering he was one of the first wrestlers around to start using moves like the moonsault and such during matches. Despite the Genius gimmick being goofy for its time, Lanny made it work pretty damn well for him, and his promos were entertaining. While he was never going to be main event status with such a gimmick, he worked fine as a mid card heel and manager for tag teams."
