[2.0] "I can't really comment on Paul as a wrestler since I'm only familiar with him as a manager. As a manager, he was very generic, beginning as a guy in a suit, followed by the moustachioed leader of Paul Jones' Army and feuding with Jimmy Valiant. I never found him to be particularly good as a manager. He wasn't particularly hateable, he was just... there. His promos were mediocre and as a manager in the NWA at the same time as JJ Dillon, Paul Ellering and Jim Cornette, he never stood out and didn't bring anything to the table. JJ was your rich jerk manager of the Horsemen, Ellering was a vital part of the Road Warriors machine and Jim was the punchable loudmouth voice of the Midnight Express. Meanwhile Paul was just some guy in a hat with a moustache."

[3.0] "As an in ring competitor, he was crummy. As a baby face he was too ugly, with a dumpy physique and no real excitement. As a heel he resorted to racism for heat (BOOO! ). While matches against the likes of Joe Brisco are watchable, that has zero to do with Jones. He thankfully hung up the boots in the early 80's, but unfortunately stayed around in a manager role. His managerial career was mostly dire. Paul Jones never did much for anyone in his stable; his promos often rambled and descended into incoherent nonsense, usually ending awkwardly. His look at the tail end of his career is baffling and off putting (which is all I will say in regards to that). Highlights would be: The whole "giving away a huge portrait of himself in Spring of '83" angle (which produced some seriously funny letters from fans), The Shaska Whatley pairing & The Powers of Pain involvement. Lowlight would be the seemingly never ending feud with Boogie Woogie Jimmy Valiant (awful, just... blaarrgh, horrible! ). EDIT: I had to edit in some points, because even though they go long: the segments with fan letters in 1983 is making me laugh hard and often. I know where it's going and I'll hate that, but the ride there is super fun - even guys like Paul Jones have some saving graces."

Did not evolve with the sport as the "look" became more important, but still was worth the price of admission at any time."

[8.0] "Too bad most folks have no clue about Paul Jones. During the 1970's and early 1980's he was a big star in the Mid-Atlantic territory, playing both a face and a heel equally well. He had tremendous skills in the ring and could talk with the best of them. Those that do remember him now probably do for his time as a manager in JCP feuding with Jimmy Valiant but if ya want to see his best, go look at what he did in the Carolinas."
