21.06.2025 | RyanFitzmagic | 3.0 | When doing a watch-through of WCW stuff, I had more fun with the repeated vignettes of Glacier than I did with his actual debut and matches. His matches felt plodding, and his vaunted kicks felt more like a weak attempt to add the pro wrestling flash to martial arts and instead made them look unconvincing. I feel a bit bad for the guy because I'm rating him mostly off the Glacier gimmick, but that's also his claim to fame. I'm sure he's a good road agent, and the other ratings indicate he's left a positive impact on a few people so he's much closer to middle of the road than he is to worst.
21.06.2025 | JannettyCowardism | | This guy gets a bad rap. He wasn't an HBK or anything, but he was decent enough in the ring and the Glacier gimmick was objectively iconic. You cannot think of Glacier without thinking of 90s WCW, and you cannot think about 90s WCW without thinking of Glacier.

23.09.2023 | CMFunk007 | 6.0 | I didn't think this guy was so bad. He isn't "easily" the worst gimmick next to Disco Inferno as the person below said, but his gimmick was a little late to the game. He could wrestle decently and I quite enjoyed his feud with Mortis and his team with "The Cat" Ernest Miller. He wasn't as terrible as people make him out to be...
28.07.2023 | nothingleftinside | 4.0 | Another guy who gets remembered as worse than he was. The gimmick was silly and tone deaf, but to kids it was still pretty cool, even in 1997. Not the best wrestler, but he had some cool looking kicks. I enjoyed his matchups with guys like Kanyon, Wrath, Meng, Barbarian, Saturn, Ultimo Dragon. People clown on these gimmicks but they were entertaining parts of the WCW midcard, especially for children. They definitely were more effective earlier in the decade. I feel like dude could have gotten over in like '94 or '95, which was peak ninja. C- gimmick, D+ ring work, and promos...? All I can go off of were the interstitial vignettes which were kinda silly but looked cool. A hard D for those I guess. Far from the worst gimmick.
14.06.2023 | mizzysha | 0.0 | Easily the worst gimmick ever next to Disco Inferno. What's most infuriating about his WCW stuff is how long both his entrance and outro take. The definition of bad 90's orientalism. He had some decent kicks though.

21.05.2023 | Giantfan1980 | 5.0 | Gotta be honest, I was intrigued by the Glacier gimmick back in 1996, but the cartoony Mortal Kombat martial arts stuff was completely overshadowed by the nWo era. He had some decent matches with Kanyon and Wrath but never went anywhere. They gave him an outlandish origins story and a stupid back story behind the feud with Kanyon which did not go over well in the snarky IWC era of 1996/97. Eventually he sold the gimmick to Kaz Hayashi on screen and they just made a big joke out of it. Perfectly serviceable in the ring.
09.05.2023 | face painted legend | 6.0 | It was inspired by Sub Zero from Mortal Kombat obviously and Mortal Kombat was a huge deal around this time, so a lot of time and money was put in to creating it. I thought Ray with his body type, the flat top hair style, and the looks fit the role perfectly. Not to mention he was some kind of high rank in martial arts as well which helped out a lot too, since that's what a Mortal Kombat character's move set should consist of in my opinion. However, where he falls in points for me is this gimmick was introduced around the same time that they were doing realism stuff with the NWO and Ray's strong suit was as a character based wrestler. He never had the personality in front of the camera that an Ernest Miller or a Chris Kanyon had, and he never had the look of a Bryan Clark who were his counterparts in that big storyline to branch out in to anything else bigger. So he was kinda pigeonholed because of it. I think the key thing that kept that character alive in WCW after the NWO stuff was that Ray is a good hearted guy, well liked guy, and he was one of Dusty's guys, so they always tried to find something for him to do to appease dream.

29.12.2022 | Wolverine971 | 9.0 | Glacier is a good wrestler with a legendary gimmick. But he was one of many mid-carders of WCW (Disco Inferno, Alex Wright, ...), the bookers did not give him the chance to win a championship. Yet he deserved it.

I guess WCW knew they messed up because it felt like he was gone in an instant. He wasn't terrible in the ring, but that gimmick did not fit the era it came into. I'm more surprised they didn't attempt to repackage him, because he could wrestle. |
23.03.2021 | GOK4E | 9.0 | Amazing wrestler, with a great gimmick. He's also a great trainer who is doing an amazing work in All Elite Wrestling. His match against Goldberg is legendary and he's really nimble considering his size and his weight.
03.02.2021 | Jlost77 | 4.0 | Dude was severely overhyped. I remember the Glacier vignettes running for months, so I was kinda excited for his debut. Big disappointment. That being said, he? s not awful, just couldn? t live up his billing
10.10.2020 | Shadow Explosion | 7.0 | As a wrestler he was pretty good. He didn't have that many bad matches and usually it would be his opponents who would botch so good for him on that one. I love the gimmick, I know he was a Sub Zero rip-off but they made him look like a million bucks (even if WCW spent almost that much on him. ). I will also say that the gimmick was wrong place wrong time, if Glacier showed up a few years earlier he would've been over like rover.

21.08.2020 | ElPolloLoco | 5.0 | Very solid in-ring talent, nothing to say about his skills: he was perfect for the opening/lower midcard role. But his Glacier gimmick was beyond goofy even back in the days: Mortal Kombat had been around for six years when Glacier debuted and while it had developed a devoted following it was yesterday's news. In 1998 we were all playing Tekken 3 and Rival Schools. Glacier was an example of what happens when old out of touch wrestling promoters desperately try to cater to younger democraphics only to fall flat on their faces. Vince McMahon, I am looking your way.

Like many other WCW wrestlers (Ernest Miller, Prince Iaukea, Disco Inferno, ... ), his career was limited because of some egoistic stars who wanted to stay in the main event and share all the titles. Today, many criticize Glacier for his gimmick, yet this character precedes all those who adopted a comic book hero gimmick. |

Instead we get an ex-cop with a conservative haircut. Not what anyone was hoping for. The goofy poses he was instructed to do after every kick made everything 1, 000 times worse. | 56 | 31.12.2017 | VSA973 | 10.0 | Glacier was my favourite wrestler in WCW, but he was badly used. He has an original gimmick and a unique wrestling style. He's really good martial artist. | 58 | 19.05.2017 | jcb9 | 2.0 | There's some serious revisionist history going on here. Glacier's gimmick wasn't original; it was a Mortal Kombat ripoff. His ring skills were subpar. He showed little to no charisma. His feud with Mortis and Wrath was cheesy in the extreme. WCW built him up for months and then pushed him for months and he was a huge flop who never connected with the fans at all. |

06.11.2016 | SPKM | 6.0 | It's a shame he had such a blatant rip off gimmick cause his wrestling style was really awesome. He had matches with Mortis, Wrath and Earnest Miller which were a lot better than people thought they would be. But WCW saddled him with a rip off gimmick, debuted him just after the NWO which got him lost in the shuffle, it's a shame because he's actually really talented.

25.11.2012 | VSA72 | 10.0 | Glacier is a very good wrestler but was very badly used by the WCW. Nevertheless, the gimmick was original, the wrestler was complete (he used the kicks a lot but also possessed an interesting panel of grips). Unfortunately, he arrived at a time when big stars were big headed and refused to lose against new youngs. Results, hopes as Glacier, Prince Iaukea or Disco Inferno had no big career, whereas full stars of themselves poured the WCW. In noted that Glacier was really a specialist of the martial arts, that he had only a defeat (disqualification) in the WKA, but international competitions few existed in this time. He possessed a good talent as wrestler, and even if he gained some titles (for exemple the NWA World Tag Team Championship), I think that he deserved better.
02.10.2011 | TAWPTierJustin | 10.0 | Glacier was one of my favorite characters in WCW! I know a lot of people want to bust on him or his character for having a Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat ripoff gimmick but come on people, it's not that bad of a gimmick. It's not like he had a comedic gimmick or anything. He just had attire that kind of looked like Sub-Zero's and everything about his character was a replica of Sub-Zero in a way. Glacier was never a comedic character whatsoever. It was just a character he had that a lot of people want to call a Sub-Zero ripoff and bust on him for it and I think that's stupid. I can understand if it was a gimmick like Planet Stasiak cause that was such a bad gimmick but if it was a gimmick that somebody like Glacier had where he just looked like Sub-Zero and he was never a comedic character, people need to enjoy and appreciate those type of gimmicks more. Glacier was a great wrestling character in my opinion and Glacier was a good competitor in the ring as well. I don't care what anybody says about him. Glacier is awesome!

Was raus kam war irgendwie Shockmaster Niveau.
