While his work in the WWE was serviceable at best, I think his current run in NJPW (and by extension, his few appearances in the NWA) has shown he made great progress. Sitting as the current NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion, Fred Rosser completely changed himself from his WWE days and greatly elevated his performance. His character as a "tough love locker room leader" is really compelling to follow and make a great contrast compared to the typical baby faces who usually leads a brand. His feud against Tom Lawlor (himself, among my favorites) and his team was also interesting to follow and lead to a great series of matches. While I understand he isn't t to anyone's taste, his great progress as a wrestler is undeniable and Fred Rosser showed to me that he can easily lead the USA branch of NJPW. |
