He stayed over as hell simply cause he's such a good guy to get behind. He has standout moves and signatures that pops the crowd and stands out on the mic. His heel turn back when he was smoking cigarettes and turning on John Morrison was so good yet ended too soon just cause Truth was too entertaining with the Little Jimmy stuff. Heel Truth harkened back to his early TNA days as world champion, and it should've been a major catalyst for things to come. Overall, it's a testament to the kind of guy Truth is that he stayed over no matter what he did. Despite the fact that he played a comedy character far longer than he was supposed to, he's still left a very good mark on wrestling. |

He started off in TNA which was horribly mismanaged and I tend to not blame much of that run on him, Jeff Jarrett nuked his credibility and then the whole "Team Pacman" debacle happened in 2007. I actually watched his debut and rise during his heel run live in 2011, and it was pretty good television at the time. There were some interesting ideas but in total, but he was never going to reach a main event spot in WWE for an extended period of time. After that 2011 run he literally did NOTHING for me, his comedy work was suitable for the time but in the current product it feels horribly outdated and antiquated. I always will have an appreciation for comedy wrestling but his late stage work his skidding the line between awful and questionable. A horribly misused talent in TNA and a comedy mid carder in the WWE whose act to me, has gotten old. |

After his rehiring, he will be treated as a more serious act and apparently a bigger highlight on the card, but now I ask, does anyone remember any GOOD matches for him? I hope they don't invent a push for the 53-year-old guy who has never had a great match in his career, in the end it's good to have him back, but they keep him just as a low card act and the clown (in a good way) that we all love. |

Longevity is commendable in this business, but doesn't automatically make you any kind of all-time great. You actually need to do something with your time. I'm sure he's a great guy and is good for locker room morale, and has a bit of utility for a cheap comedy pop every now and then. But if he went away tomorrow I probably wouldn't notice. |

He is arguably the greatest comedy character of all time and has stood the test of time impeccably. In ring he's nothing special but by no means bad, he does exactly what you need him to do but will never do anything too extraordinary. But he could've definitely been more than just a comedic character, his feud with John Cena in the build up to Capital Punishment was a very good feud that could've drastically altered the future of R-Truth as a performer if WWE gave it him. While I don't think he would've held it for a meaningful length of tie, likely just being a few months long before losing it back to Cena, it is a title reign that I think would've been thoroughly enjoyable. R-Truth has definitely had a success wrestling career, but could it have been more? |
