Being arrogant, pretentious, and flamboyant were things you wouldn't see before this. Not only did he shape wrestling but you can argue he was influential in modern culture as a whole, adding personality into sports. Muhammad Ali took inspiration from George and used it to promote himself in ways athletes didn't do before. You can argue he made being the arrogant guy cool and a marketable strategy in what was then a new age of media. Undeniably one of the most important people of all time in the wrestling business and in my opinion he altered the course of the business more than anyone else."

Inspired Muhammad Ali to run his mouth. He's better than almost every heel that's existed after him, and that's saying something..."

[10.0] "Raymond George Wagner was the biggest new thing in wrestling history back in 1950 in its 80 year history, becoming a true characteristic heel. Part two of this review will highlight his abilities in-ring, he was never the best or a world champion, solid and strong wrist locks, very meat and potatoes in his prime before the long blonde hair or robes. His wife is the biggest inspiration to his life and his biggest source how to piss off a live crowd. He was a professional with a professional mindset, just dont want the ref to put his filthy gross hands on him or his hair. Another cool fact, unresolved fact but he came out to the music pomp and circumstance all the way through that sometimes was the longest thing than the battle that night. George was Gorgeous and Gorgeous George is the influence of the heel blueprint that built THE Greatest, The Nature Boy, The Macho Man, THE Superstar, The Salt of the Earth etc."

[8.0] "He was the guy who pretty much brought gimmicks into wrestling spicing things up and while he really deserves all the credit for getting the ball rolling he wasn't really that impressive in ring wise. Typical heel tactics with a great gimmick but at the time it was something completely different. Massive props to George for being one of the firsts."

[10.0] "Gorgeous George is pretty much the man that started it all. All the fancy music, gimmicks, pyro, special effects, and anything else you see today traces back to George. In the picture, he doesnt look all that great but once you see one of his matches you will realize why George has this high of a rating. Definitely a 10/10."
Grisham1986 wrote on 04.06.2016:
[10.0] "Conventionally labeled the first gimmick ever, George revolutionized the concept of "being a worker in the pro-wrestling business". It was after him that "characters" and "gimmick" really started to appear. Do you like The Rock? Do Or maybe Tiger Mask? Antonino Rocca? CM Punk? Well... it all goes back to the 40s in good ole America. And it all traces back to this man."
