Tom Lawlor

[8.0] "Legit shooter who has transitioned well not only in the ring but also in the personality and charisma portions. On the mat he is very fun to watch being a great submission specialist and he has an aura about him in the ring with him being legit able to beat anyone. Where he is most impressive to me is some of these types lack charisma but he has it in buckets."

[7.0] "no matter what ive seen him in (mlw njpw and various Indies) hes always been a joy to watch. gives a great effort every time and is uniqe enough without trying to leave an impression. from his interviews and hi social media seems like great guy as well"

[6.0] "Had a strong run on pandemic era NJPW STRONG as far as I know, but what I've seen of him on US PPV shows and in Japan he's often been very average to me. Occasionally can have some decent submission based matches but most the time they're just fine but a bit dull."

[9.0] "Top 10 American indie wrestler (still consider him as such despite his New Japan and MLW associations) and one of the best anywhere in the entire country. He's somebody who would have an unreal run in a place like AEW or even Impact. The only thing this guy is missing is a big run on TV with a major promotion. Genuinely a nice person who truly loves pro wrestling as well."

[9.0] "Tom Lawlor is an awesome heel that comes across well with a cocky demeanour. His background in MMA makes him a strong grappler that can outwrestle anyone in front of him, making him a total badass. I don't know how he would perform on a bigger promotion like WWE or AEW, but he thrives in the smaller promotion, usually build as one of their top guys."

[8.0] "Good grappler w/ a legit MMA background. Great charisma. Seems to like a natural who just gets it. Only thing really holding him back is his age - (39 at the time of this review) - so he really doesn't have the luxury of time to hone his craft. Definitely a fun one to watch though."

[9.0] "Good aura, shockingly good in promos, has a ton of respect of fellow wrestlers and seems to work the backstage areas well. After years of good matches, finally had his real superstar making match against Okada. While he is older than most wrestlers with his short experience, he is scrappy, beyond skilled from his shoot fighting experience and knows the ins and outs wrestling world. I am hoping he can transition into the US version of Fujiwara: an old man who goes out there and makes the kids suffer and is a threat to major league champions."

[9.0] "I respect this dude so much, a legit MMA fighter who takes pro wrestling seriously and even retired from MMA to go pro full time. Also is a great wrestler."

[9.0] "Tom has consistently made me laugh and just as consistently put on great matches. Dude is a credible threat and knows it, so he uses that to allow himself to do goofy dumb shit. So much fun"

[8.0] "Tom Lawlor is absolutely great and I wish he would have started wrestling sooner. I love his look and he has such a natural charisma attached to him. His wrestling is also exactly what I like in general with brutal strikes and great mat techniques. I'm only familiar with his NJPW's run so far and he hit it straight out of the park with great defences for the STRONG Openweight and a pretty entertaining stable following him. I hope he'll manage to work his character a bit more in the future, but so far, he's over with me."

[7.0] "Just started watching him recently, and he's an all around entertaining dude. The strut, the charisma, a solid worker from what I've seen at Strong."

[8.0] "It's great to see Tom Lawlor flourish as a wrestler decades after his debut. His matches on New Japan Strong are always at least good, and his style meshes very well with the wrestlers around him."

[8.0] "He's got a ton of charisma and legit skills. I'm glad he's not just another MMA guy-turned wrestler or wrestler-MMA-poser who thinks he has to be a serious badass."

[6.0] "Lawlor is a good heel (and a terrible babyface) with ok ring skills and ok mic skills that for some reason manages to make people think that he is better than he actually is. He is decent inside the ring, but he also always under-delivers. Like he has almost all the tools to have a good match but has no clue how to use them. I've watched the entirety of his MLW career and he might be the worst champion they had, as his matches were a constant let-down. Maybe if he gets like 2-3 years of experience more he could be able to better use his assets."

[9.0] "I watch MLW largely because of Lawler. He crossed my radar & without knowing much, I knew there was a lot there. He's great as both a heel as well as a face. He's great in the ring & brings a lot of legitimacy through his days in UFC. He also has a boatload of charisma, not to mention a killer theme song. If he ever does go to WWE or AEW, I expect many people to join the Filthy bandwagon."

[7.0] "In the ring, Tom Lawlor is a good submissions-based worker. As a character and talker, though, he's a bit of a work in progress. As a babyface in MLW, he always just kind of bored me. He's been better since turning heel, but as a heel he can be pretty over-the-top at times. Not in an entertaining way, in a cheesy way."

[7.0] "How can you not like Filthy Tom? Awesome talking head, entertaining wrestler, competent fighter, hilarious persona, and a truly genuine, down-to-Earth guy. Tom Lawlor is great in every sense of the word, except for probably its literal definition."

[8.0] "Wasn't too big on the push get started getting in AIW and BLP at first but he certainly won me over. Anywhere he's allowed to be his weird self he shines and does great. MLW hasn't seen him be the best consistently but MLW booking isn't the strongest although he dud get two great matches out of Jimmy Havoc there and I do not like Jimmy Havoc at all"

[8.0] "A former MMA fighter that is now full time a pro-wrestler. He has been wrestling all over the indies in the states, having good matches. It will be interesting to see how much more he grows in the following years."
