The guy has pretty much been in every major fed in Japan at the time of his active years in wrestling. When he was a regular in NOAH, competing in openers and Midcard matches, this guy was tearing up ninjas from left and right! Whether it be rusher Kimura, kishin kawabata, old man momota and Eigen, it doesn't matter, he beat your a## regardless of how old you are while using his karate skills. I may sounded like a mark saying that, but hey, this guy is still dope! And deserves a higher rating, Aoyagi is awesome and cool. |

Aoyagi pretty much revolutionized wrestling with the work he did in the late 80s/early 90s, with his match with Atsushi Onita in WKA leading to the creation of FMW, and his invasions of NJPW and WAR creating some of the most compelling work in the entirety of the 90s. His actual abilities in the ring were awesome too, as while he was almost purely a karate guy his entire career, his karate abilities are genuinely world class and he was able to communicate that greatly in his wrestling, throwing some of the most awe-inspiring kicks in wrestling history. Truly, without Aoyagi's influence wrestling would be a much different place, even if it's hard to imagine. Rest in peace to a true legend of pro wrestling. |
