[9.0] "Spike Dudley was awesome, put his body on the line no questions asked and could seriously go in the ring. He was great at the third little brother of the dudleys and he was also veyr good in his cruiserweight championship run of 2004. Can't really ask for more from a veteran and hopefully a future hall of famer on day"

[9.0] "Spike Dudley was much better wrestler than people give him credit for. It is understandable that he is often seen as the third Dudley Boy but he had phenomenal singles matches in ECW and he has been an important trainer in MA wrestling school passing his knowledge to the next generation."

[8.0] "This guy knew how to take advantage of what would traditionally be considered a disadvantageous body structure to create incredible moments; very much like a mini New Jack, except without the emotional and mental issues, which is fantastic. He would always take the most disgusting bumps during all his matches, & I'm astounded as to how he was able to remain, to my knowledge anyway, largely uninjured during his wrestling career. When not leaping off a skyscraper into a fucking tornado, he was a moderately serviceable in-ring worker that was able to hit a beautiful sliced bread 2, & was able to cut a promo with the best of them. Interviews reveal a likable, humble soul whom knew his place on the card & had no issues with it. Seriously astounded at the low rating, this guy slays."

[8.0] "Spike Dudley was the ultimate underdog. He took absolute beatings from guys twice his size and still kept coming back with heart and fight. Whether it was getting tossed into the crowd by Bam Bam or getting put through tables by 3D, he made every moment memorable. Might not have the most decorated career, but his guts, resilience, and connection with fans made him stand out. A true example of making the most out of what you've got."

[7.0] "My Rating: 7.3 Spike Dudley was very innovative small guy wrestler. He took incredible bumps back in ECW and again on his run as Brother Runt in TNA. His time in WWE wasn't too memorable except he had a great short feud with Stone Cold."

[8.0] "That Spike has such a low overall is proof that folks conflate being lower on the card with being bad at your job. Spike existed to get the absolute shit kicked outta him by guys twice his size and he did it so well he managed to produce memorable bumps across ECW, WWE, and TNA. Fun character, too."

[4.0] "Small guy who was able to be beaten around easily and make bigger guys look stronger. Whilst that's needed in professional wrestling, in my opinion, it's all Spike Dudley was good for. Couldn't be believable even in a Cruiserweight division. Fitted in well with the Bubba & Devon but still, he had a very small ceiling (no pun intended) and he obviously reached it early on. Surprised to see he was in WWE up until 2005, but again, was basically just a job guy that you could throw onto a card and eat a loss whilst making somebody else look better."

[7.0] "Spikes ECW days were great as well as his angle with molly holly in the WWF. He can also sell powerbombs really well though his mic work wasn't the best. one of the greatest cruiserweight wrestlers of all time so i believe he deserves a 7.5 from me."

[9.0] "Original Comment left on March 10th 2022: Definitely one of my favorite underdogs ever. This is a wrestler about my size, so sometimes I have to laugh at what it would be like if I were in there (though I have MUCH better hair, thankfully). His facial expressions are off the charts and sometimes he sold things like ABSOLUTE D E A T H. His brief run as Molly Holly's boyfriend was a guilty pleasure. Always very watchable, you really wanted L.S.D. (gosh what a great gimmick full of layers haha) to win the big ones, but he usually never did. The art of the business is keeping you hooked and invested right? Spike had that for certain despite his complete lack of size. Made the absolute most of what he had no doubt. EDIT: nothing has changed except a score raise, I love this guy! 8.5"

[8.0] "Not a lot a love for Spike. He was great in ECW and WWE for his size and not being a luchador. He was a great teammate as well as a foil to the Dudleys, and some great upsets of big men way before Rey Mysterio. The ACID drop is one of my favorite finishers but then again, I watched all his matches on Philadelphia Sports Channel and going forward. Anyone watching him today takes him for granite, but he was a pioneer."

[8.0] "I have a lot of love for Spike Dudley, mostly for his work in 2CW. He is the godfather of 2cw and without him, 2CW never would have been what it was. He's an absolute class act who makes anyone that steps in the ring better for it. The wrestling world is better because Spike Dudley has been in it."

[8.0] "Spike is an interesting breed of wrestler. Spike is literally the size of a middle-schooler, but he did some very nice bumping and did some very athletic moves. Of course, no one will ever believe that this guy could slam Mark Henry, The Big Show, or do a double rotation moonsault like Ricochet. Spike always knew had to entertain the audience. I gave him some extra points that we both have the first name Matthew and were both born in the month of August. Good stuff to watch."

[7.0] "Really weirdly low rating for Spike, it feels like. Took some absolutely insane beatings over the years, had a great finisher, and in general played the role of scrappy underdog just about as well as anyone ever has."

The kind of guy who was never gonna be a main event, and was never gonna put on a five-star classic, but he was entertaining, he was a character, and he brought fun to the show. That kind of wrestler always seems to get underrated in the Cagematch user ratings for whatever reason. Realistically he's probably a 7, but I'm bumping him up because his current score is WAY too low."

[8.0] "The average rating here is ridiculous considering the risks he used to take in the ring. Known more for taking bumps here, but always a good underdog. Was solid considering his place on the card."

[7.0] "The absolute greatest underdog in wrestling history. I don't know if his skillset and intangibles are enough to play "what if he was getting big in 2005 indies" but it was hard not to root for him."

[10.0] "The youngest (actually oldest) Dudley has such a low rating that kinda disappoints me. He sacrificed himself all the way for the wrestling business, and earned his nickname after picking victories over the big boys. He did some insane spots and took insane bumps that made who applied them anyone look gold. Loved his facial expressions that gave hint he was a child like person who could explode at any given time."

[6.0] "Nobody made an opponent look better than Spike Dudley. He had a ceiling due to his size, but he was an easy guy to root for and he could put on a good show when given the opportunity."

[9.0] "Spike's rating being so low is a travesty. Cerebral, hard working, sympathetic and fearless; Brother Runt is one of the all time great underdogs in wrestling. His matches with his storyline half brothers, with Bam Bam, with Lesnar, with Mysterio; all very different stories and all told very effectively. He would excel as an enhancement talent, as a cruiserweight, as a tag team competitor and as a hardcore wrestler over the course of his career, proving himself equally effective as both a heel and a face. His Acid Drop finisher, aka the Dudley Dog, was a stellar move made only more exciting with the addition of a table. Also, holy smokes, could this boy bump. The former teacher is often looked back at today as a bit of a jobber, and not in a kind light. The world needs to educate themselves, it would seem, on wrestling's greatest crowd surfer. From ECW, to WWE, to TNA and beyond; Spike's had a well travelled wild, tie-dye filled career."

[8.0] "Why in the blue hell Spikes rating is so low? Guy was really enertaining underdog. Spike made running to corner look actually great/real, because he didin't do that idiotic turn. He just run directly and fall. He is also part of one most memoriable bumbs of all time, when Bigelow throw him on crowd and Spike become crowdsurfer."

[6.0] "Spike is probably one of the most undeserving of a rating under 5 on this site. Pro-wrestling is first and foremost meant to be entertaining, and the runt was definitely that. He wasn't bad in the ring anyway, and taking bumps is a skill."

[5.0] "Ok in the ring. Can be quite entertaining at times. His physique prevented him from reaching the status of a mid-carder. His selling is pretty good."

[10.0] "A very good little man who could take one hell of a beating and deserves all the respect for what he risked for this business, the man could and would be thrown like a toy doll out the window. He was very sympathetic when he got his ass beat and the crowd would rile up as soon as he got offense... even his offense didn't last long."

[7.0] "Let's be honest: a guy the size of Spike is probably only going to get so high up the ladder & considering he was a part of the Dudley gang, he had his role. But he played that role incredibly well. If Spike was in the game today he's be in the comedy role to an obnoxious amount. But he was not overused during his time in the industry. He did certainly do the comedy stuff, but he could also be serious & helped to get others over."

[6.0] "Not the best wrestler but undeniably one of the best little man underdogs in wrestling history. Bonus points for some absolutely insane bumps."

[5.0] "I always enjoyed Spike's work. Good cruiser weight who did his best work working with the Dudley Boys. He could take a hell of a beating and was involved in some brutal spots over the years."

[6.0] "The man was a good cruiserweight but I always hated the faces he made. They weren't endearing or charming they were obnoxious. He worked several solid matches with Mike Awesome, but he struck me as one of those who tried to hard to have charisma while never really having it (much like WWEs Christian, but at least he had more to offer then an aerial arsenal). That being said it was always good fun to watch him take on guys much larger then himself. As stated before his matches with Awesome were just that. Hes certainly been shafted here, but calling people stupid on how they rate is childish and, all due respect, hypocritical. Everyone has different means of criteria."

[8.0] "He was amazing especially for his size. He proved to everyone that he can do something. He could defeat giant men. He was very skinny and very funny. He is defiantly a Dudley for sure."

[7.0] "Spike gave hope to the average person, if he could win, so can you. He was great as a Dudley and told a solid underdog story."

[6.0] "Spike Dudley was interesting. Their was something about him that was entertaining but he wasnt a very good wrestler. His time in TNA was also very weird and bad. I liked him in ECW where he had a good match with Mike Awesome. In WWE he was good too. Kind of. He did have an okay run as the Cruiserweight Champion though."

[8.0] "Underrated worker. His "giant killer" gimmick was promptly copied by WCW and attributed to Rey Misterio, Jr. Anyone who gives this guy below a 5 lacks objectivity."

[6.0] "Despite his size, Spike made quite a career for himself, holding the tag titles of both ECW and WWE, as well as several WWE singles titles. He was entertaining and worked hard in the ring, and was always able to take a beating. At his best as an easy-to-root-for underdog against much bigger opponents. Still pops up for special appearances on the northeastern indy scene, including Tommy Dreamer's House of Hardcore, and is always fun to see."

[10.0] ""The Giant Killer" is one of my favourite characters and Spike was a good enough wrestler to match it. Enjoying great success in ECW and WWE with numerous championships you'd never think a 150lb Extreme Original would win, before finding his way to notable runs in TNA. This diminutive stand-out had pretty thrilling matches against Mike Awesome, HHH, Dudleys, Bam Bam Bigelow, Rhino and more. Seeing his recent appearance at Tommy Dreamer's House Of Hardcore event brought that good memories, leading me here... a little saddened by the low rating on ol' Spike."
