[8.0] "Unfortunately Joe's legacy has been somewhat more overshadowed post 2003 as being the "old 70 guy that New Jack beat up" which I don't think is fully fair. When people bring this up that focus just on New Jack and there never seems to be any effort put into talking about Gypsy Joe. Regardless if he is before the time period most modern wrestling fans are probably interested in he does deserve for his legacy to not be forgotten or totally overshadowed. Joe took that beating from Jack and was admittedly more banged up than normal but this was also only 5-7 years from when he was still able to fully handle his own in a fight despite being middle aged. Joe's gimmick was really him being able to withstand abnormal amounts of punishment to his body and walk away in not much pain which wasn't really as much of a gimmick as it was just how he naturally was. Joe could take punishment but also give it back, hard. He's often surprised wrestlers due to his size that they'd expect to not worry about Joe fighting back but Joe would often surprise them but hitting them harder than they could ever hit him. Joe was also a pioneer in hardcore wrestling and brawling as he was doing it at a time it was just beginning. Behind the scenes he was known as a very polite man who was nice to most people and you could easily have a conversation with. True legend that doesn't deserve to be forgotten!"

[7.0] "Probably the toughest wrestler ever to step into the ring. Joe managed to perform in the ring in his seventies, actively taking hard bumps as in his best years. A real MAN who deserves respect like no other"

[5.0] "A very average journeyman wrestler in his heyday, Gypsy Joe later turned to making his dollars in hardcore matches in the latter days of his career. Although his match with New Jack will be his lasting legacy, but one should not forget his earlier years in major promotions like the WWF, NWA, AJPW etc. Nothing special, but much better than people give him credit for."

[3.0] "Not that great. Very sloppy in the ring. He is great at jumping off the turnbuckle, that's all. The hardcore matches he had were interesting. His punches and chops were bland."
