[10.0] "While his name sounds Japanese, the person behind the mask was actually from Stoke-on-Trent in England. His character, that of a Japanese samurai with a mysterious past and reputed powers of healing and hypnosis, was a massive draw during the golden era of British Wrestling in the 70s and 80s. Theres a surprisingly deep lore behind the character, who is a spirit guide from a 300 year old Samurai that lived in the place that is now called Nagasaki, and serves as a sensei who appears by being channeled through an otherwise ordinary man, and the person behind the mask received this opportunity with the spirit that he had contacted while in "a trance state" during meditation. Oh yeah the person behind the character was also a buddhist. And he revealed that he was a bisexual, at a time where it was frowned upon, in his 2018 biography... shit I forgot to talk about what he was as a wrestler. Beyond his mystical character that he played masterfully, the former weightlifter also managed to incorporate his past boxing and judo experiences into his aggressive grappling style, making him stand out quite well from the rest of the pack in the British scene. I'd say he is my favorite wrestler from this era of British wrestling."

Different from those two at least Kendo brought something else to the table as he could actually move in the ring (at least until the mid 80's) and cultivated his mysterious image carefully. Compared to folks like Adrian Street and Dynamite Kid he wasn't the best in the ring but compared to Big Daddy he was something else."

[9.0] "Peter Thornley or better known as Kendo Nagasaki is a well known wrestling legend in the UK and is considered as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time from UK! Thornley portrayed a Japanese samurai gimmick known as "Kendo Nagasaki" and he pretty much live this gimmick even until today, Nagasaki has been wrestling for over 6 decades now! He started out in 1964 on small promotions around UK, it was until in 1971 where Nagasaki joined iTV's World of Sport where he really gained massive popularity in the wrestling business. The man who became known as Kendo Nagasaki has always been linked to famed masked heavyweight Count Bartelli. He too went under the hood, fashioning himself as a samurai-inspired grappler and adopting an aggressive style that included some martial arts. he continued under Bartelli, first teaming with him and then working against him before taking his mentor’s mask in 1966. The win propelled Nagasaki to a level of stardom, but it was several years before he made his TV debut. Everything about Kendo Nagasaki worked. He worked a different style than his peers; he had a distinct look and persona; he was eerily silent had a mysterious aura around him yet was accompanied by an over-the-top manager and he embraced his character fully, Kendo was careful not to taint his legacy. Kendo Nagasaki is unquestionably one of the most recognizable and well-known stars of British pro-wrestling. His character and his dedication to that character is second to none in a business"
