[8.0] "Greg Gagne was a solid worker who gets a bad rap for being the son of the promoter. While he didn't have a great look or physique, Greg was over with the AWA fans and worked his butt off. Verne being his father no doubt contributed to the positive reception, but you can't deny that he was over. The High Flyers were a solid team who deserve more recognition. This wasn't The Jet Set. Greg was fortunate to have a workhorse like Jim Brunzell for a partner. The Ricky Morton to his Robert Gibson. Decent in singles as well. An easy 8 on my adjusted Cagematch "Workers Prior to 2000 Shouldn't Get Crapped On" Scale"

"Despite his reputation as a nepo baby, mediocre worker, dull, average etc., I was always a fan of him and Jim Beunzell as the High Flyers. I also heard he's quite a good guy outside the business"

[6.0] "Before my time but from what I've seen he seemed pretty good. I don't get the hate. Is it because he was Verne's son? I'd be interested to know. He was a good worker."

[5.0] "Mediocre at best, and if wasn't pushed to the moon by his dad maybe could have been better. The High Flyers tag team was decent with Jim Brunzel but always felt Jim was the better half. Greg had no size and looked puny in the ring and the Road Warriors should have destroyed them each and every time. Greg looked like a preliminary wrestler and was ok in the ring as Vern probably trained him to his peak ability which was average at best."

[6.0] "Greg was an average looking guy during an era when there weren't many average looking guys. He was billed as being 6'0", 220 lbs, but I think that was a gimmick height and weight because he never put on any size try as he might his whole career. He was a career babyface as a performer and understandably so because he was a 2nd generation wrestler whose dad was one of the most famous wrestlers to come out of Minnesota, and also because his same famous father ran the only territory he ever worked for as an in ring performer. He had the personality of a board because of how seriously that he took the business, but i found him to be serviceable in the ring as a babyface. Because he could make whatever guy(s), he worked with, no matter how big or how small that they were, look good in matches. On the microphone, he wasn't great at all because again he had no charisma, and no real character. He was just a straight laced pro wrestler who had a famous father more the less."

[6.0] "He seemed decent in the ring and wasn't a complete flop like Erik Watts or David Flair as a second-generation wrestler. Although in saying that he is nowhere near the level of Charlotte Flair, Roman Reigns, or The Rock when it came to being a second-generation talent."

[1.0] "Nepotism, was maybe THE catalyst to make the AWA look utterly bush league (see also: Mike Von Erich/WCCW). Spike Dudley has/had a better physique. Outside of the ring - a mythomaniac . Very difficult for me to find many saving graces ... he was technically sound, but utterly unbelievable. EVERY MATCH reeked of "the other guy letting him get stuff in". Painful to watch, painful to listen to. Not recommended."

[5.0] "Hard to call him a beneficiary of nepotism... he was, obviously, but he's kind of underrated. Quite good as a babyface tag guy. Loses exactly one point for being a fantastically bad promo."

[5.0] "Adequate singles midcarder and good tag team wrestler but was completely devoid of charisma and his promos were bad, and I am still being charitable. His "Rambo" gimmick, created to help him piggyback on Sgt Slaughter's popularity, was hilariously awful. His father effectively killed his career by pushing him for roles he could have never filled, but for all the praise Verne Gagne gets his mentality as a booker was staid to be charitable. Another case of a son paying for his father's sins."

[8.0] "A tremendously underrated talent, there is a prevailing narrative that his father Verne tried to push him as a world champion and he had no ability, but even a quick look at the actual footage proves that's pretty much entirely false. Used primarily as a tag worker, Greg was able to use his exceptional technical ability and strong high flying prowess to believably compensate for his thin physique and lack of raw power. Also, he seems to be quite popular in all of his matches, thanks in part to his family name but owing no small part to his actual ability, which was considerable within his style. He would have been a poor fit for a heavyweight champion, but he was extremely capable in the roles he was asked to play."

[2.0] "If not for his father he would of been nothing but a jobber in any other territory. He was as skinny as a rail and even back then when I was a young kid I never believed he could of beat anyone. Maybe one of the most overrated guy to ever step foot into the ring."

[6.0] "Greg Gagne was a good athlete with a strong technical base as well as some aerial ability, and was fully capable of putting on good in-ring performances. He would likely have been best-suited as a tag team specialist, but being the son of AWA owner Verne Gagne led to him being pushed as a featured singles attraction, and he never quite had the flash or personality to justify such a strong push and silence the accusations of nepotism."

[6.0] "Decent worker but way over pushed for the obvious reason. Had some speed, technique and some aerial attacks. Nothing special other than being Verne's son."
