Risa Sera

[8.0] "I largely know her for her time in Stardom. But thanks to that run, it made me look up some of her other stuff on YouTube. She's largely known for the hardcore stuff, but to simply put her in that category would be too limiting. She has a great presence, look, & charisma. Her matches are engaging & she's someone who I want to see more of."

[6.0] "This rating stings to give, as I loved Risa Sera from her debut until around 2019, when she really started to show signs of both slowing down and breaking down. Her recent matches in Stardom have been an improvement over her dreadful 2021, but the Risa we see today is not the Risa I once felt would overtake Tsukasa Fujimoto as the best wrestler in the world. As mentioned, her Stardom matches have shown glimmers of the Risa of old, so maybe this rating will change, but for now I have to give a 4. [January 7, 2024 edit: The last few months have seen gradual improvement for Risa, so I upgrade her score to a 6. Her recent matches in PURE-J have been more like the Risa I expect. I hope to see more of that Risa! ]"

[10.0] "risa sera is one of my favorite wrestlers ever, and definitely my favorite deathmatch wrestler out there. i think shes a very underrated technical wrestler, partially due to how good she is at hardcore/deathmatch wrestling, and has been for a while. shes slowed down some recently, but when youve been doing deathmatches for 11 years and your finish being a diving knee drop (often times onto chairs or ladders), often times off of a ladder youre bound to slow down some. but all around she was on top of ice ribbon for a reason, and i believe if she signed somewhere shed be on top there too. though i dont see her signing anywhere as shes running prominence to good success."

[8.0] "She could not be the same savage Risa from past years, but still have a lot of credits for their work, and still delivers a lot of her versatile unique style of wrestling. Also, she's a veteran, but it's still young and have a lot to show and make everybody impressed."

[10.0] "An imperious talent who can work with equal aplomb the most serious matches possible but also lighthearted comedy matches. Even though I've loved her for years I know in my heart of hearts I would have given her a 9 if I'd written this review 10 months ago because she can occasionally be somewhat one dimensional and lethargic. However, post-leaving Ice Ribbon she's kicked it up another notch and has just been absolutely fantastic (her work in Stardom and the Prominence shows has been utterly god-tier and her work in Sendai Girls is giving them some of their best matches in years). Match quality, promos, ring generalship, presence, facial expressions, selling, psychology, ability to be an effective heel or face, gear choices, build, insane charisma and just general insanity; Sera is one of the most rewarding joshi puroresu senshus currently out there."

[9.0] "I watched Prominence shows and several Risa's matches from Ice Ribbon, but it is only Stardom 5STAR Grand Prix what helped me to understand her whole greatness. Risa can steal the shows with small matches, no matther what the circumstances. It can be both a deathmatch or a really thoughtful ordinary match - Risa will always either be a star or make her opponent shine."

[10.0] "Risa Sera is a great wrestler imo. I'm not going to lie and say she is the best in the world in any aspect, she is awesome but a little bit below some, but her biggest quality is that she is very good, even excellent at times, in everything. I think the main thing that differentiates her from other joshi wrestlers who are at her level is her talent in deathmatches, she brought it to Ice Ribbon and did some awesome ones, but her performances in more "traditional" matches are also great, and she is even good at comedy sometimes. She is not the best ever imo, but she did change my way of seeing deathmatches, got me into Ice Ribbon (not alone of course but I don't knowif I would be a regular IR viewer if I didn't see her), and now is leading the group that hyper me the most in these first few weeks of 2022, and just for that she is worth a 10/10 imo. It's always a pleasure to see her wrestle."

[10.0] "Risa Sera is one of the most diverse wrestlers who can do any match, be it a comedic, traditional of deathmatch, and all of them would be good to say the least. One of the best storytellers, if not the best, in joshi wrestling. Most of all, she made the deathmatches look cool and interesting, demonstrating it's not only just about violence and not only men can do that."

[9.0] "Risa Sera is incredibly versatile wrestler. She does classical matches and comedy spots. She also does hardcore and even deathmatches. Her style is pretty unique and extreme themed. I could recommend her by writing down 1000 words here, but it's pointless. You just have to see her wrestle and you will understand. Great wrestler."

[10.0] "She is my absolute favorite wrestler. It took a while for me to realize she wrestles a "top-of-the-card big-man" style, a bit of a divergence from the ordinary technical game I'd expected at first. To me, Sera's greatest skill is conveying emotions through facial expressions, however. Her range as an in-ring actress is comprehensive."

[8.0] "Risa Sera is a tough wrestler to rate. She ain't great by any means, even if you judge her off the tag matches with Maya Yukihi which are good imo. But she has a great connection with the crowd and has an aura of likability surrounding her. You can't help but like her and get invested in her matches."
