[7.0] "Next to the Hebners, he was my favorite WWF guy in the 80's and early 90's. What a loss to the Marella family."

[10.0] "One of my favorite WWF referees. He had *THE* 3 count. He had *THE* outside 10 count. Golly he was marvelously consistent, didn't need to be a "bumping ref", stayed out of the way. Wasn't as vocal as some other referees but he looked so perfect in that suit. For a referee, he was super tall but it's ok, as the WWF was The Land of Giants! In some ways the WWF became a new place after his untimely passing. I'm glad we can rate referees here, they do play a role in all of this!"

[8.0] "He was the target of the joke most of the time when he refereed matches because of the fact that he was Monsoon's kid. I remember Johnny Polo (Raven) on All American Wrestling, Ventura on the ppv's/syndicated shows, and Heenan on the ppv's/ syndicated shows giving Joey such a hard time, while Gorilla would sit there trying to defend his actions. Gorilla himself sometimes would be critical of his work, but his were mostly honest criticisms more than giving him a hard time. Also was the senior official who presided over all of the referees in WWF at one point. He refereed many big, main event level matches in his day most notably Hulk vs Andre at WrestleMania 3 which I heard Andre himself requested."
