Nogami is pretty much part of the forgotten portion of juniors that even though they won the IWGP Jr. belt, still struggled to overcome their peers success, but I can't blame him being in the same era of an anime superhero though, so he carried on anyway. With that aside, being a lifelong junior, Nogami managed to shock the world many times by making upsets in huge matches, and by being from the old guard of young lions (the same one Hashimoto, Chono, Mutoh, Funaki, Iizuka and Samurai were part of), I extend my huge respect for his loyalty for 30+ years. Skillful competitor and also pretty charismatic during his Team 2000 days."
[9.0] "One of the most under rated wrestlers of his generation. I think most of his low rating comes from the fact he was over shadowed by Liger & Kanemoto as well as being a part time wrestler during the majority of his prime with his acting career. When he was wrestling, he showed athleticism, charisma and great technique. Matches with guys like Minoru Tanaka and Koji Kanemoto in his prime, as well as with Liger and Norio Honaga in his early days. In his later years, he obviously lost a step, but still shows his brilliance (see vs Kaz Hayashi in AJPW as an example). More people should check out his stuff, an incredible, unappreciated wrestler!"
[7.0] "Nachwievor ein guter Wrestler, der nachdem Hashimoto ihm die Lichter ausgeschossen hat nach anderen Einkunftsmöglichkeiten gesucht und gefunden hat. Ich habe jedoch nie verstanden, warum er den bereits in Europa verwendeten Akira-Charakter nicht mit nach Japan nahm und stattdessen dort (wieder) als konturloser Junior- und später für kurze Zeit Heavyweight-Wrestler in den Ring geschickt wurde und es viele Jahre gedauert hat, bis man wieder an dieses Gimmick anknüpfte. Auch das unsägliche Japanese Jollyjacks-Team mit Iizuka war damals bereits zum Scheitern verurteilt und hat beide in ihrer Entwicklung blockiert. Ansonsten wie gesagt heute mehr noch als früher immer gerne gesehen. Und er beherrtscht übrigens als einer der wenigen Wrestler einen Top Rope Splash bei der die Knie beim Aufprall in der Luft sind, die tolle Musasabi Press."
[8.0] "Toller Wrestler, der leider bei NJPW immer lange Pausen für seinen Theater (oder Film? ) Karriere gemacht hat. Wenn er in den Ring steigt, ist das eigentlich immer ein Grund, sich ein Match anzusehen."
