Hernandez

"I've been a fan of SuperMex Hernandez since his TNA days, and I've always considered him one of the most underrated big men of his generation. The guy is a true powerhouse--explosive, ridiculously strong, and way more athletic than someone his size has any right to be. He always brought an intensity that made everything he did feel legit. Even after all these years, when Hernandez steps into a ring, he still has that presence that makes you stop and pay attention. SuperMex has always been a beast!"

[8.0] "One of my favorite things in wrestling will always be huge dudes who can move around like someone half their size. This especially rings true for guys with lucha backgrounds (Galeno and Oni el Bendito as more modern examples), and while Hernandez doesn't quite have the technical acumen of your standard luchador, his aerial offense was always on point. When he wasn't performing these acrobatic feats, he worked a pure powerhouse style in the ring, which was incredibly effective given his physique and look. It's this chocolate and peanut butter combination of styles that really made Hernandez shine in the ring. He never really had the stamina or psychology to ever be a top singles guy, plus his promos were always kind of weak, sort of naturally leading him to be much, much better in tag team matches. And that's fine. There's nothing wrong with being mainly a tag team wrestler; tag team wrestling is great. Again, chocolate and peanut butter. Overall Hernandez had, let's say an upper-mid-level ceiling, and I believe he came pretty close to breaking through but couldn't quite get there. Today he still wrestles regularly while running independent shows in central/south Texas, bringing pro wrestling not just to major areas like San Antonio and Austin but also frequently to some of the tiny towns in the region (like <20k population sometimes) that would otherwise never see any live wrestling without driving to one of the big cities an hour or more away, and that's pretty awesome. 7.5 rounded up."

[8.0] "SUPERMEX! not the best singles wrestler but an very underrated tag team wrestler, the border toss is an awesome finisher, his hot tag is exceptional, he even can do the Mike Awesome Dive right after the Homicide second rope con hilo, that's hot, oh that's hot. Dixie overpushed him but i dont think that should tarnish his career as a legendary member of LAX"

[7.0] "I sneaky love Hernandez. Just a big mean looking bastard who can do cool dives and power spots. Obviously did his best work in LAX and his tags with Homicide where he could play to his strengths and hide the elements he is not great at as a singles worker."

[5.0] "Supermex! He and Homicide were one of my favourite tag teams back in TNA and he was an ok singles wrestler. Homicide is better tho. solid 5"

[6.0] "I find Hernandez to be pretty good in his own right but he is overshadowed by Homicide in LAX. Good tag guy."

[4.0] "Very limited in the ring. Mildly charismatic and can do a few good spots but mostly needs to be worked around rather than worked with."

[6.0] "Hernandez is good as a part of a tag team but I don't think he's a great single in ring competitor. Because of his looks and size the roles he can play are pretty limited so they did a good job putting him in LAX. He's pretty athletic for his size but he really can't sell and sometimes looks sloppy in the ring. His power moves are very pleasent to watch tho."

[7.0] "At a time when tag wrestling was in the shitter across all federations, LAX was one of the best things going. They felt real & raw. Not only did they have an exceptional gimmick with a unique presentation, but the two guys worked really well off one another in the ring. Homicide with the speed & Hernandez with that power. Everything down to the names of their moves (Boarder Toss, for instance) was amazingly put together. After LAX came & went, Hernandez never reached the top of the mountain that it looked like TNA may have hoped for at one point. I don't think he was as good as a single compared to him being in a team."

[8.0] "One of my favourite big guys when I first started watching TNA. He was great as part of LAX and unfortunately wasn't bad as a singles competitor but was just missing that little something to take him to another level. Definitely better suited to tag team work."

[7.0] "Hernandez is a solid big man wrestler who is good at getting heel heat. A decent singles competitor for a face to overcome, or a good tag specialist, Hernandez is solid all around."

[6.0] "People complain that Hernandez is botchy in the ring. Aside from the sloppy Border Toss (which Doug Williams talks about and says really wasn't that bad), I can't recall him botching horribly. Sure, the man is a jerk, and a bully (which is why he is a great heel), but aside from that, I don't have a problem with Hernandez. He's been a good powerhouse, who moves well for his size, and is FAR better as a heel."

[5.0] "Hernandez is a big, powerful dude to be sure. Although he never quite took off during TNA's attempts at pushing him as a single, he found his niche as a tag wrestler, which his style of explosive power moves and the occasional dive to the outside lends itself to. The biggest mark against him is that his Border Toss finisher was occasionally a bit reckless and caused injuries or near-injuries. Impressively held tag team gold in TNA seven times with four partners (Homicide, Matt Morgan, Anarquia and Chavo Guerrero Jr. )."

[7.0] "To be completely honest, I was never and I'm still not exactly the biggest fan of Hernandez or his character, but I've always been amazed by his look, his power, and his agility and aerial abilities for a guy the size of SuperMex! I give him a ton of credit in the world and I'm not going to deny that he's a good worker in the ring by any means."
