Had a terrible run in TNA following him way overstaying his welcome in WWE, and now he spends the rest of his days clinging onto any relevancy he has left by being an alt-right shock jock on Twitter."

No idea how he kept his job for so long, never left an impression on anyone beyond how stupid his gimmick was. That was all a subjective review of his actual work, I won't get into things outside the ring, but yeah, pretty shitty guy from what I've seen. 0/10. Simply terrible."

He never got better in the ring or on the mic, and ended up being a deplorable person nowadays as well. Whatever mild tolerance someone might have had for the character is completely obliterated by who he's become outside the ring. Loud, embarrassing, and openly hateful. It's not "separating art from artist" when the art wasn't good to begin with."

His matches were bad and his promos, especially as Chief Morley, were horrendous. Not to mention that horrendous TNA run he had toward the end. I really don't think there's anything in this guy's career worth mentioning. Not to mention he seems like a genuinely terrible person."

He never got anywhere near the level of popularity he had for that one brief period of time. Eventually fans saw him for what the gimmick really was, a raunchier Ravishing Rick Rude knock off but with a fraction of Rude's charisma. He's also a garbage human being so minus points for that."

Definitely had a ceiling of the mid-card because of in ring limitations and gimmick. Will probably always be best known for choppy choppy your pee pee. Outside of WWE he was unable to leave an impact anywhere on the industry despite attempts in NJPW and TNA."

But he was very bad, what is most remembered of him may be his role as part of Right to Censor or his confrontation against Ken Shamrock, his match in St. Valentine's Day Massacre is the worst thing I have seen in my whole life in WWE, the story was silly and unattractive, the Match was horrible and the result of the worst of all. Mainly that's why I hate him. He never showed skill and was just another mediocre in the backstage of the 99 '. (And the story where they cut their sausage with a katana is also horrible)"

Darkvibes wrote on 06.03.2025:
"The recent ratings for Sean Morley, highlight a major issue with cagematch. I keep seeing the same thing, over and over for many different entries. Is it too much to ask to rate wrestlers according to in ring ability and promo skills, rather than what their political/personal views are? Let me remind you this is a wrestling website and a damn good one at that, been my primary source for information for years, yet it is being lost to the "easily offended" generation, who have zero continuity. People seem to overlook double murder suicides and rate them on "just wrestling" when it suits their narrative, but someone dares to go against the woke agenda and they get zeros? It's nonsense, pure muppetry. You are not here to cast judgement on the man, you are here to give a constructive, informative & fair reflection of a career, not something they might of said on a podcast. It's ruining the validity of the ratings and reviews. More spinebusters, less filibusters!"

Now he's just a bitter old man who spends his days sharing conspiracy theories and being bigoted while complaining about the woke communist left. The dude can't take a joke and beefed with a trans wrestler whose gimmick is a fun play on the Val Venis name (Valerie Venus). Unimpressive and forgettable."

The only memorable thing he did in his career was the "choppy choppy pee pee" segment. To this day, I have yet to see one person name one memorable moment outside of that. Even both his Intercontinental Championship runs were forgettable. Why WWE kept this guy employed all the way up to 2009 or why TNA hired this guy and pushed him over Christopher Daniels will never not be baffling to me."

A decent worker in the attitude era, has truly fallen off the deep end. A conspiracy theorist bigot who spends his time on social media being a xenophobic, transphobic, massive piece of shit, spewing hate on transgender wrestlers while also spreading misinformation on stuff like vaccinations. Ultimately, he will be completely forgotten about in the grand scheme of things. a totally fine wrestler who was known for his pornstar gimmick and somehow winning the intercontinental title who has completely lost his entire reputation quickly."

He was a decent wrestler in the ring and they would try to shift his personality during his tenure but he was never anything more than artifact of the attitude era by the time the mid early - to - mid 2000s came along. I try not to comment on the personal lives of some of these guys because most of them can be exposed as shit bags in some form or another but Val's behavior has gotten increasingly troublesome over the years. Clearly he's taken alot of shots in the head because he's since become a man whose hell-bent on working the Christian Libertarian grift while spreading hateful rhetoric towards the trans community as well as weird anti-vaccine stuff. Clearly, he's a guy whose gone off the deep end and I hope he gets help sooner or later."

Turned into a xenophobic bigot that spreads crazy conspiracy theories and all round hate filled rhetoric. I would have rated him a 5 or 6 because of his wrestling career but a man so set on spreading hate, misinformation and crazy consiracy theories doesnt deserve a rating at all. I'd like to remember him as the sleazy character he played but will actually remember him far worse for the human being he is than the character he played."

His gimmick was able to produce some passionate fans thats without a doubt, but for me personally Ive always disliked him and have even flipped the channel or fast forwarded his work. Not the worst ever but honestly not far from it. Giving him a 1 because he was able to connect with some, but I dont think he deserves anything above that personally."

Him beating Daniels in 2009 reigns as one of the most baffling booking decisions I've ever seen in my time watching wrestling. Also, in recent years Venis has shown himself to be a complete transphobic scumbag. The only match of his that I would ever recommend to anyone would be the cage match against Rikishi and that only be because of Rikishi's crazy dive off the cage."

There's no way he would have gotten over in modern WWE as he's only decent in the ring by attitude era mid card standards. And like what would his gimmick be in modern WWE? maybe a tag team with Rhonda Rousey called Terf Enough? Sounds atrocious. Honestly I feel guilty giving him a 1 as he doesn't even deserve that."

[8.0] "Over like rover. He looked every bit of the part of the sleazy porn star character they portrayed him as. Had a great series of vignettes -- I would put them up there with Million Dollar Man, Mr. Perfect, Boss Man, etc. in terms of building excitement for a character . Had one of the more memorable debuts at least in terms of reaction that I can remember anyone in WWF history having. I forgot who he wrestled, but that place exploded when Val walked out, and he debuted AS A HEEL. I still to this day say man, that was a great build to a debut. A lot of his promos were written for him by russo or whoever, but his delivery& performance of them in that sleazy porn star esque voice made them memorable. His catchphrase of "Hello Ladies" was a huge hit, again go back and watch the first time he was on t.v.. Those two words ignited the crowd as much as any opening to any other music they had lol. The latter part of his run was more focused away from the character and on his in ring work which was ok because he was a good in ring worker. I remember him having solid feuds with Rikishi, him and Lance feuded with the Dudleyz, Jerry Lawler, etc, but I guess to me the first year and a half of the Val Venis character was his most prominent ( Spring 1998- Early 2000)."

The whole "pornstar" gimmick has *NOT* aged well and plenty of his work in the late 90's and early 2000's can be cringey to watch in hindsight. His inability to move beyond the Val Venis character, and all his subsequent attempts to get over as Sean/Chief Morley is what keep him as a 5. Oh yeah, and he's fucking crazy outside the ring so that doesn't help."

His porn star gimmick was stupid from the start, and as it went on and on and on it just got more and more tiresome. When he wrestled without the porn star gimmick (with Right to Censor or as Chief Morley), he was boring and vanilla as hell. Oh and also he's a terrible person who spreads misinformation, bigotry, and just plain bitterness. Like, spend a couple minutes looking at his twitter feed. Regardless of your political beliefs, the guy is just deeply unpleasant and nasty."

The Val Venis gimmick got him over in the Attitude Era, but it limited his upward trajectory because it's the kind of gimmick that isn't going fit past a certain level. And because Morley kept the gimmick until it got stale, he was pigeon-holed as a midcard talent."

He was hella charismatic with his double entendres boosting his promo work. Ultimately, he ruled the midcard and even had some spells in the main event with Foley but confusion over his dispostion (face/heel) might've hindered him. Toward the 2000's, he seemingly became a tired character and left with a whimper. At a time, however, he was one of the most over midcarder."

He was very appropriate for the Attitude era. Today he would not be allowed to wrestle in the WWE. He deserved the Intercontinental title. The Right to Censor gimmick looked horrible on Val. He had great matches with the Rock, Stone Cold, Billy Gunn, Goldust and Umaga. Chief Morley was a weird time for him. The sad thing was he was a jobber in his later years and injuries affected his career. They released him in 2009 after he was recovering form an injury that happened a year before. TNA boo not his best. He is a legend and an icon for the Attitude era."

[6.0] "Hello Ladies! The Big Valbowski is a very underrated performer. Val Venis had a lot of the tools you needed to succeed. While Val was not the best in ring performer i think he had a little bit of everything. He had a great High Flying finisher with the money shot, He also had a great physique that helped him look strong and he could use just a little bit of technicality. The Mix of all that made him a solid performer. I believe the problem is that mix could sometimes muddle his performances and would make for sloppy, underwhelming even boring matches at times. Where Val Venis really shined was in two departments. His Charisma and gimmick. The guy could really talk on the mic. He was so good at working the crowd (especially the ladies) and it would be some of the dirtiest most creative innuendos you will hear. Val Venis also had a great gimmick that may not have worked with anyone else but him. The porn star gimmick was a gimmick perfect for the Attitude Era and he played it so well you could believe that he was this dirty, nasty sex star you were seeing. He was a part of some of the most controversial and memorable moments of that Era and he had the looks to make it work. I was never a massive fan of the Right To Censor or his time in the group and i did not like his time with the company from late 99 til he eventually left. While the guy was entertaining and possibly the most entertaining mid card gimmick of the late 90's and had the look, the gimmick, the charisma and he wasn't half bad in the ring, he had a gimmick that was never going to reach past mid card status and despite having all the tools it was never fully realized. It may have been a problem creatively or a major issue with him or maybe he had just overstayed his welcome."

But the wrestler playing him, Sean Morley, had in my opinion all the tools to succeed - solid ring skills, good look, great charisma. What ultimately sunk him more than anything was probably just the creative direction (or lack thereof) - each of his heel turns, first with Right to Censor and then with the Bischoff regime as Chief Morley, presented the opportunity once the story concluded to have him do something different and potentially move up the card; yet each time he was simply made to revert to the by-then tired Venis character and ultimately languish as an enhancement talent. At any rate, he was a memorable part of the Attitude Era."
