[2.0] "Well, we'll always have THE SHOCKMASTER. Probably the best "You fucked up" moment in history. And I absolutely love it. But as a wrestler, I didn't see anything going on with Tugboat that's worth seeing ever again. The teaming with Earthquake made sense."

[5.0] "Great guy, horrible wrestler. His best stuff was as part of The Natural Disasters, only because John Tenta's style complimented his."

[3.0] "EDIT/Rewrite. As Big Bubba he was awkward and green as heck, what a look. As Big Steele Man he was slightly better. Tugboat is just AWFUL, horrible stuff. Can't stomach the Tugboat, only had good stuff with Pez Whatley. Typhoon though. Here is where he got to shine. Although he still wasn't that great. The Shockmaster debut is infamous. His time in WCW is just awkward. Only The Natural Disasters is worth your time. 3.25"

[5.0] "I feel so bad for Fred Ottman. Never given a good character, the best character he had was Typhoon, and even then he was playing second fiddle (To an admittedly better worker in Earthquake). But it's hard not to feel he got the short end of the stick. Great guy, slightly underrated work. Any semblance of a push he was gonna get got ripped away from him because of a single trip over a poorly gimmicked wall as The Shockmaster."

[5.0] "Fred is one of the nicest wrestler outside the ring and still continues to be down to earth nowadays, even appearing in a photo posing with the infamous shockmaster helmet. Unfortunately his gimmicks, like the shockmaster, were sub par at best with typhoon, horrid at worst with tugboat"

"I can write a one word review: EPIC. Typhoon is solid big guy but the shockmaster was EPIC! It's like the definiton of so bad it's good."

[4.0] "Six year old me loved Tugboat and seven year old me was too stupid to realise Typhoon was not the same person. Poor lad is almost certainly going to be most noted for falling on his arse for the rest of time. I did like the Natural Disasters and still grumpy LOD refused to drop the belts to them."

[5.0] "A solid big man who was ruined by dumb gimmicks. Tugboat went nowhere, but as Typhoon he complimented Earthquake very well in their tag team and they were the only legitimate threat to the LOD, but the Road Warriors were stubborn about dropping the belts so the Disasters never got one over on them. After he left for WCW, it was all downhill from there. Met him years ago at a collectors show and he is one of the nicest guys."

[5.0] "Fred is best known for being an good tag team player and for having the infamous Shockmaster gimmick. He was fun as Hulk Hogan's buddy the Tugboat, but Shockmaster became a real phenomenon, one of the most popular memes in the industry, which is still remembered. He wasn't very agile in the ring, but he was quite an impressive big guy, especially as a 1/2 of Natural Disasters. 5 points."

[10.0] "MY PARTNER IS GONNA SHOCK THE WORLD AND HE IS NONE OTHER THAN THE SHOCKMASTER. MONEY AND ENTERTAINMENT. I LOVE THIS MAN. He's so good. Haters gonna hate. And the frauduleux people can cry without woof woof (aboyer)"

[1.0] "No skill at all. Really boring to watch. Tugboat had the stupidest music ever, Shockmaster was one of the most memorable debuts of all time for all the wrong reasons."

[3.0] "He was from a time where if you were a big man, then you got a big man push. But if he never had his size, he would have been a nobody. He looked great against smaller opponents, but really never pushed himself to put on any kind of memorable matches. Plus he got saddled with really bad gimmicks his whole career."

[2.0] "A very bad worker with some stupid gimmicks "Typhoon" was good though but overall he wasn't good at all."

[6.0] "While not nearly as good as his buddy Earthquake, Typhoon was still fun to watch. I miss the days of big fat guys squashing little guys in wrestling. Shockmaster was funny, too..."

[8.0] "I don't understand why people rated him low. Okey, maybe he was limited in the ring and he couldn't perform tramendous mouvements but he tried to do his best and he had great agility as a big man. Also his gimmicks (especially Tugboat and Typhoon and even Shockmaster :D ) are good, his promos are nice and watchable. Of course these are my opinions and I believe this legend deserve good rating and respect."

[4.0] "Absolutely gigantic wrestler in all three dimensions but not the most agile, especially compared to his tag partner Earthquake."

[2.0] "Not really that great! He has the size and splashes but limited in the ring. His gimmicks Tugboat and Shockmaster were dreadful. Typhoon wasn't that bad. He did well with Earthquake but that's it. Not that memorable of a wrestler."

[7.0] "A good power villain and part of an excellent tag team that had a quality run against the Road Warriors. He moved well. Tugboat was a bad gimmick but it got him in the door. Good heel turn match with the Bushwackers. The Shockmaster incident costs him a point."

[2.0] "Fred Ottman seems like a really nice guy, but as a worker he was awful. The silly gimmicks (Tugboat, Shockmaster) didnt help him. Even as massive as he was, he never even came off as intimidating, but more like the big goofy uncle who cracks fatulance jokes ."

[6.0] "Regularly benefitted from getting the rub from bigger stars who he was associated with such as Dusty Rhodes (a relative), Hulk Hogan (a friend), John Tenta/Earthquake (tag partner) and Sting (initially connect to the Shockmaster). Never found a niche as a singles competitor, particularly after leaving Earthquake's side. However, he was a big, heavy guy who was fed to a lot of up-and-coming competitors who benefitted from pinning a former tag team champion and veteran name. Lost matches by pinfall to Undertaker, Doink, Bam Bam Bigelow, Shawn Michaels, The Headshrinkers (as a tag wrestler) and Yokozuna, among others. Squashed preliminary wrestlers who were lower than him on the ladder every now and again. Also held the WWF Tag Titles with Earthquake. Adequate, if nothing special."

[5.0] "While he was OK as a monster babyface as Tugboat, Typhoon truly shined as a monster tag team wrestler alongside Earthquake as the Natural Disasters. The team worked well as heels or babyfaces and meshed well in the ring. Unlike his partner, Typhoon was never quite able to find the same degree of success as a single, though admittedly the "Shockmaster incident" is one of my all-time favorite WrestleCrap moments."
