With that said, he did move well for someone of his size for that era. He also had a good enforcer presence while with Raven's Flock. Overall, he was a serviceable big man for his time - no need to rate him poorly solely from his prior gimmicks."

[5.0] "Relatively decent wrestler who is unfairly maligned for the Yeti gimmick (which I personally think was hilarious) and other ones that he was stuck with, which, at the end of the day, was out of his control. His best run was as a member of the Raven's Flock."

[4.0] "Reese was a 7 foot tall giant who WCW hired based on his size and made him a joke. They dressed him as a mummy and called him a Yeti. He then dressed as a ninja and was called Super Giant Ninja. While he was still dressed Super Giant Ninja, he would still sometimes be called the Yeti. Once kicked out of the Dungeon of Doom he went as Big Ron Studd and became a jobber while occasionally picking up a win on a c show. He was let go but came back as member of Raven's Flock. He actually fit well being a muscle character supposedly on drugs Raven was giving him. It started rough at first but then he actually got some wins and was treated as a serious threat until he lost to Juventud on ppv. He was once again a jobber and was beaten until be fired again. He was a decent big man who needed to do more, especially when Giant and Kevin Nash was more athletic then him."

All he could do was do big guy things and that was about it. Yes, he had some bad gimmicks throughout his career."
KristofOliwa wrote on 22.08.2024:
"Why is everyone rating him badly for doing a gimmick that he was told to do? Not a good wrestler but not a 0 either."

[3.0] "Honestly, I don't think this guy is quite as bad as he gets his credit for. He's not good, mind you, at basically anything, but if you need a mid-card monster, he can do the job okay. I really think it was just being saddled with one of the all-time bad gimmicks in the Yetay that killed him. Raven's Flock era Reese was kind of fun as a heater for the group, and I kind of enjoy his "Seven Foot Tall Eddie Edwards" look. A shame he can't wrestle remotely like Eddie Edwards, but hey, he's seven feet tall, he doesn't necessarily have to. That being said, he's light on even the interesting power moves, and the limited promo time he got was absolutely dreadful, so he always had a limited ceiling, but I kind of wish they had given him a slightly better opportunity to show out."

Watching this on Youtube makes me laugh so I think he is worth couple of points. But hey c'mon! He didn't even look like a yeti! He was dressed as mummy!"

Got his big break with the horrible Yeti gimmick which he only wrestled 1 match as then got turned into Super Giant Ninja then quietly disappeared from WCW until coming back as Big Ron Studd, which didn't work out much better because commentators kept calling him Big John Studd, yeesh! Got one more push as a filler member in Raven's Flock."

[1.0] "He had no business being in a wrestling ring but was somehow less personally offensive than Abdullah the Butcher or New Jack. I guess that's where the compliments end - that he wasn't out there basically committing attempted murder. The Yeti situation was one of the most dire moments in the history of all of... LIFE. Zero point five rounded up. The point five stems from this: WCW's World War 3 '95 Bobby Heenan: "Did you see the size of the Yeti! " Tony Schiavone: "yah he looks different too, he must've thawed out". This poor dude was merely a "point and laugh" moment. Unenviable."

[2.0] "I feel sorry for Ron Reese. The Yeti gimmick was so horrid that it pretty much killed his career before it could even get started. He was basically a nobody as a member of the Flock and as Super Giant Ninja and once WCW died, he was finished. All that in mind, he was not a great wrestler. Giants are not well known for being technicians, but Reese was super forgettable and widely known for being a jobber. He hardly ever cut a promo and when he did, it wasn't pretty. On a positive note, his stature as well as his presence are very intimidating and is the 4th tallest wrestler ever. But it's hard to take him seriously when he was slapped with the gimmick that will live on as a wrestling meme."

[1.0] "Oh man I had forgotten Reese was the Yeti when he showed up as part of Raven's Flock. Felt like another pointless big guy in wrestling anyway, I'm sure he could've had a relatively lengthy career had he been used right but this is the WCW we're talking about."

ElPolloLoco wrote on 09.06.2019:
[2.0] "Poor guy. He had no redeeming qualities apart from being a veritable colossus of a man: in a way he was a relic of wrestling's past in that all he could do was just stand there and look really intimidating. He could have had a decent career based on that in the 60's and 70's but unfortunately he broke into the business during the 90's when everything was changing, fast. The Yeti (or Yeh-tay, as Tony Schiavone pronounced it) gimmick was hilariously bad, Super Giant Ninja was mercifully short-lived and he could have worked as Raven's hired muscle, Reese, had he been built up as a terrifying threat instead of being literally destroyed by Goldberg at first occasion. The high point of his career came in 2000 when he inexplicably main-evented the Rikidozan memorial show while tagging with Genichiro Tenryu, of all people. Mind this wasn't some rickety two-bit show as it featured big names such as Yoshiaki Fujiwara, Satoru Sayama, Shinya Hashimoto... down to a way past his prime Antonio Inoki. After that the Yeti went back to the Himalayas and seems to be happy to occasionally reprise his role at indie shows and wrestling conventions."

[0.0] "I am not going to rate Big Ron Studd because of his Yeti gimmick because everybody knows that would be a 0/10. I am here to rate him for his gimmick in WCW as Reese/Ron Studd/Reis. And he still gets a 0/10. He is not good in the ring at all. He was mainly used as a jobber to the likes of Jeff Jarrett, Jim Duggan, Rey Mysterio, and Chris Benoit among others. Overall a 0/10."
DanTalksRasslin wrote on 05.05.2016:
[2.0] "Despite his over-seven-foot stature, Reis' lacking skill and charisma gave him difficulty catching on despite several attempts on WCW's part to find a role for him. After the Yeti gimmick flopped, he was repackaged as Big Ron Studd, which also failed to catch on. His next role, as giant muscle for Raven's Flock, was probably his most successful, though he mainly served as an enforcer with only a handful of featured matches to his name (notably against Juventud Guerrera at Great American Bash '98 and against Goldberg for the US Title on Thunder). Perhaps his most memorable moment - other than the Yeti silliness - was getting Jackhammered by Goldberg during Goldberg's US Title win over Raven, and again in Goldberg's title defense against Reese, which gave Goldberg an impressive feat of strength to add to his resume."
