[0.0] "The sky was the limit for Velveteen Dream, he was a star in the NXT men's division, probably in the greatest era of the brand alongside Black, Ricochet, Gargano, Ciampa, Balor, Cole, Lee, etc. And I dare to say he was the most charismatic of them all, the promos were fantastic, the character could work both as face and a heel and the in-ring was good to great, especially the way he bumped for the guys.You could see after his first major feud against Aleister Black that the guy was a star, but everything faded away after the things he did, especially after the allegations came out. It's ironic that the same sentence that catapulted Dream to being one of the greats of NXT Black and Gold is now a reference to his real life problems, but like Black once said; "Enjoy infamy, Velveteen Dream"."

But I have to say, his NXT gimmick was fantastic. He was electric. The charisma, the character work, the potential... it was all there. I really miss watching him during that time."

[0.0] "Zero points for being a horrible person that never tried to make amends even when he came back in the spotlight and actually tried to go back into wrestling. I will say that even if we forget all of this (and nobody should at this point), I found him a but underwhelming in NXT. He put a breath of fresh air in NXT, totally lived his gimmick (which aged horribly with this new context) and had great qualities to make it as a WWE wrestler. However, to me he was synonymous of a post golden-age in NXT when main event matches were becoming parodies of themselves with unwarrented "epicness" and so many nearfalls that they didn't mean anything anymore. So yeah, great potential, but wasn't there back then, so it would have been a 6 out of 10. And again, he's still a despicable human being."

[5.0] "In my opinion, it would be unfair to rate him higher than 5 given his very short tenure in professional wrestling, despite the fact he was seen as a possible future star for the WWE. He had a great gimmick that people loved, and would have no doubt imporved on that and become even better. In-ring he was good, especially for a guy that had only been in the business for a few years. Had boatloads of potential, but real life got in the way of his professional wrestling career. Not going to go into a deep dive about what happened, but obviously it lead to him leaving the WWE and just becoming nothing. A lot of wasted potential, who knows what the future will hold for him."

"The Velveteen Dream had potential, and still could do something on a smaller scale. I would've liked to see where his career went had those allegations never come to fruition. The likelihood is that his ego would've been his downfall, evident with some WWE personnel celebrating his release from the company. Throughout this 'rating', I will call him by his original name; Patrick Clark. As a wrestler, Patrick Clark was never much to write home about. He was not as bad as some people would have you believe, but he was no Bret Hart as a pure wrestler nor a Shawn Michaels as a flashy showboat. He was above average in skill. Solid enough to pull through a decent match, not good enough to wrestle a broom to a memorable bout. Where Patrick excelled was in his natural charisma. Even in his early character, he managed to make himself an attraction. This is rare, especially for someone so green to the business. After a few tweaks, he had *the* character - The Velveteen Dream. It is at this point that Patrick Clark has made himself a 'superstar', a wrestler tailormade for American television wrestling. His most memorable feud, to me anyway, is the little feud he had with Aleister Black (Malakai Black). The simplicity of the feud, saying one's name, was immaculate. Not everybody needs a bloody rivalry, or something stupidly boring like, "I'm better than you! " It's a feud that helped bring more to his character, and officially cemented him as a "tweener". To run this 'rating' short, I would give Patrick Clark a 7/10. Really good and could, if given the chance, do something in the future."

[7.0] "great character, pretty solid in ring, and charismatic on the mic. back in the day i thought this dude was going to be the future but allegations and personal issues really ruined his potential and career, part of me would like if he came back but the personal issues are probably too much for any company to want to deal with. 7/10"

[9.0] "Velveteen Dream is one of the truly sad stories in pro wrestling. He had all the potential in the world. He had IT. The spark. The talent. The charisma and the character. And then he messed up and had some bad allegations that were "cleared" (by a company known for brushing things of that nature under the carpet, causing extreme doubt in fans minds) and went on a downward spiral of drugs and legal issues. One of the single biggest stories of wasted potential in wrestling history."

[9.0] "It is unfortunate that drugs and misinformation had gotten in the way of his career as he was a great talent overall. He could talk, he could wrestle and he had a unique gimmick. Im glad he got to clear his name on the allegations towards him and would like to see a return to a major company!"

"Not going to rate Dream. He was by leaps and bounds my favorite part of NXT when he was at there. His match with Aleister Black is one of my favorite ever matches, and he could kill in the ring. It is a damn shame that he's an alleged creep. It is such a fucking shame."

He excelled in his character work, playing a provocative Prince-esque heel with a good look and a great deal of charisma, with even some shades of Rick Rude in the ways he would use his promos and attire to get under his opponents' skin. His ring work was also solid and improving. The only person that would get in the way of his status as a future superstar, it turned out, was himself, as allegations of sending pictures he shouldn't have to people he shouldn't have, as well as general accusations of being hard to deal with backstage and other legal issues, would ultimately lead to the abrupt end of his wrestling career just as he was on the verge of breakthrough success. What a colossal waste."

[8.0] "I hate giving him A 8, but he was too good for me not to. He ruined his own career because he was absolutely on his way to becoming WWE Champion at one point. His call-up was destined to happen, until he ruined his career. His match with Black was amazing, he took A lot of big bumps during the ladder matches he was in. He was the future and even John Cena wanted to wrestle him, until he ruined all of that. Still was incredible though, just A horrible person."

[8.0] "this one is tough to rate. the allegations killed everything. Velveteen Dream had an extremely high ceiling. one of the more charismatic wrestlers. great in-ring work. very over with the NXT crowds. he had the potential to be a huge star. it's sad to see a young career end this abruptly."

But he was able to declare himself. An interesting versatile character, great storytelling in matches and even overselling looked auitable for his extraordinary gimmick. After injury, he became a faded version of himself, and after unpleasant details from the Dream's past were revealed, his career was completely destroyed. But based on what I saw, he was a talented entertainer and had every chance of becoming a successful grown-up star in WWE. But everything turned out differently. Alas."

Someday he might find a way to sneak in through the backdoor and back into pro wrestling but hopefully he is kept out for good. Its such a shame because he had all the tools you need to be a star in the busniess but he didnt have the integrity. What a waste."

"Based on the actual stuff that makes a wrestling performer he was fantastic. Incredible character work, got massively over around late 2018 early 2019, won the NA championship, had one of my favorite Takeover matches vs Riddle in NY and was certainly destined for greatness. But of course, he decided sending nudes to minors was cool so he will never wrestle on TV or in well known indie promotions ever again. A shame, but that's what he gets."

He offers up engaging promos that really show the love/respect for wrestling and the charisma which he oozes constantly. He also has a dynamic move set which truly feels like a match made in heaven between the wrestling of the golden age in the 80s/90s and today? s engaging spot oriented style of wrestling. There? s not much else I can say besides that I can? t believe how in 2020, my favourite wrestler is Patrick from Tough Enough. You know what though? I can live with it, cause the Velveteen Dream Experience is the one to be a part of right now. Dream Over."

[10.0] "As of right now, Velveteen Dream is a absolute powerhouse of character and wrestling ability all in one. Hardly ever is there a match he's in not an absolute wonder on NXT. His North American title reign really bumped up the title to a new level in my option, making his opponents look good on either defeat or victory. If Velveteen keeps this onslaught up he can be recognized as one of the greats. Huge high praise for him all the way."

[7.0] "Going forward, this guy better be careful that his ego doesn't get him in trouble. I think he's good & dynamic, but he's not one of the best today & I think he totally envisions himself as such. Time will tell if he can really be seen as more than just a midcard talent. Thus far, I think he's good, but not anything I would miss much if he went away."

[8.0] "Velveteen Dream is an anomaly in pro wrestling today, particularly in NXT. In a show that has shifted into independent wrestling stylesz Dream stands out as a sports entertainer. Personally, I feels combination of Macho Man Randy Savage's flashiness, and Prince's flamboyance and swagger. In that, he's incredible. His wrestling is athletic, and he has exceptional matches on a regular basis, with azing storytelling. He's so versatile, adapting to the indie style of those around him on a regular basis, while pulling out solid matches à la the WWE typical style. Something about him in the ring isn't fully there yet though, but he's so damn close. I absolutely LOVE the Velveteen Dream, and he's ready to jump to RAW or Smackdown, but there's something missing I can't really put my hands on. He can be a world champion in time. He has that ability, charisma, athleticism, and connection with a crowd."

[2.0] "The two points that I'm giving to this dude is because of his selling and his mic-skills, despite that, he's an awful worker who needs to learn how to wrestle immediatly! People overreact to him just because he can do an Diving Double Axe Handle. His gimmick is horrible, he's just a generic cocky heel who thinks that the world cares about him... and that's all. Velveteen Dream is one of the worst wrestlers I've ever seen."

[10.0] "He is 23 years of age and he steals the show like a veteran. He might not be a 10 in the ring, but his charisma is something I 've never seen, good looking and savage at the same time. He has that "thing", I don't know what that thing is but I know when someone has it"

[9.0] "Despite beign relatively young and new to the wrestling buisness, he carries himself as one the biggest stars of today. He has had plenty of amazing matches in NXT and his character work is a big plus. If he gets booked properly i can totally see him go down as one of the all time greats."

[8.0] "One of the best talkers around right now. Very very impressive considering just how new he still is to wrestling as a whole. Tremendous character work and look and just a great presence. Needs a bit more training to get his in-ring work up to par with his talking and he'll be a huge star. For now, he does a good job making up for his lack of in-ring skills with some crazy daring moves."

[9.0] "Velveteen Dream is one of the most promising wrestlers in all WWE. At just 23 years has had some of the best matches in NXT history and had great rivalries against the likes of Ricochet, Aleister Black or Tomasso Ciampa. He has all the abilities needed to become a top wrestler in the future: Great mic, huge amount of charisma, great ring psychology, really good storytelling. He just needs to polish his ring performances and will become one of the very best on the roster."

[8.0] "I really think that Velveteen Dream is one of those great NXT guys that will not be misused in the main roster. Not only he has great athletic ability and he is really good as a worker (great selling great move set etc) but also he has an incredible character. A character that is something inspired by Macho-Madness and has something of lusful similar to the NXT tyler Breeze of some years ago. Also his promos are fantastics with his ? third person? dialogues . I loved every single match he had at any TakeOver event (especially the ones with Aleister Black and Richocet... this last one at NXT TakeOver Chicago was awesome) and all his feuds has been entertaining becouse he has a much great variable gimmick that is difficult have not a great feud with him. I hope they will not ruin him going in the main rosters and that Will continue his construction becouse he is very young and green with a potential that not many stars has right now..."

[7.0] "Velveteen is one of the most captivating gimmicks in both the main roster and NXT. The man oozes charisma. He's entertaining as hell both in the ring and on the mic with the fans rallying behind him ever since his controversial Tough Enough elimination. Sure, he still has some kinks he has to work out in the ring and he's not on a main event level yet (in-ring wise) but keep in mind he is still very much in the infancy of his career. I think he has the potential to be the next Goldust-like character in the WWE"
