[7.0] "Based on his 80's material: Started as an underneath guy and the ability to gel with and elevate everyone around him was striking, a total natural. Before long he was paired with Mike Davis as The Rock n Roll RPM's. What's fun to relive is; before the pair had a name and were just babyfaces slapped together to put over heels a handful of times, the chemistry was so bold that it was almost a tangible object. Unfortunately, Tommy Lane was coming into his own when it was the era of "body guys" and his physique was, well... a mess. 6.5 rounded up."
"Gouldie is famous for one very specific moment on Stampede Wrestling. He was given some build as The Stompers real life son. They created an angle in which he fought Bad News Allen that was so close to real that the show was almost cancelled from network television. Ed Whalen was not in on the work, and quit the show on air after the match. It essentially portrayed Bad News breaking his neck and almost killing him while Stomper (I cannot recall exactly why) was unable to intervene. The Stomper was interviewed afterward in tears. It was so real, so organic, that it did not appear a work in the very least. It came as a result of Bruce booking the show, and the man was a creative genius. Sadly, however, it more or less finished the idea of Jeff Gouldie wrestling but did put Bad News over as the new heel in town, as the Stomper was getting older by then, and had played out his run over the previous several years as the top guy heel. It made you think that Bad News would do anything to injure someone and made him a very scary prospect."
