[8.0] "Steve Wright is one of the best technicians in professional wrestling history, slick and crisp in every movement he did the only thing that held him back was his own high standards which led him to at times, not giving as much back to his opponents as they gave him. Nonetheless excellent, a shame he didn't get a more of a run outside Europe and I say that despite his runs in New Japan."

[9.0] "One of the most incredible wrestlers I've ever seen in terms of sheer workrate and, beyond that, a phrase I'd say is that he "makes it look easy". Wrestling in terms of Steve Wright matches always feels like he's a million steps ahead of whoever is in front of him given his wild mix of British catch and wild lucha-lite transitions and throws. If we were purely talking about talent then Steve Wright would be up there with the Volk Han's/Tamura's/Sayama's of the world given his pedigree. The issue that I had with him historically is that he's a rather selfish performer. He's a guy who is seemingly incapable of letting talent that he thinks are lesser than him get away with actually doing their own stuff without immediately getting no-sold and wrestled back in line. This is something that fellow peers of the time would say was a huge issue as to why Wright never quite got the fame that he very much could've easily had as he was rather infamously stubborn in regards to giving to someone not as established. Granted he would still sell and he seemed to mellow out as he got older and that mattered less, so that's something. I just can't give him a perfect score given that's a huge thing for him."

[10.0] "Father of cult favorite wrestler Alex Wright, Steve has a legacy in his own right. A gifted technician who managed to perform at a high level for close to 30 years as a great grappler and submission master, regardless of weight classes. The British Magician was one of the best in-ring performers Europe had to offer in the 70s and 80s."
