[5.0] "He showed promise in the ring and had technical skill, but struggled to find a lasting identity in WWE. As Jesse, he played the wholesome foil to Festus, and later rebranded as Slam Master J, which didn't resonate. While he never reached the heights some expected, he was dependable in the ring and respected behind the scenes. Pre WWE he did show he could possibly develop into a better character than he was given in the company, and on lineage alone its a shame they didn't try it"

[4.0] "The bare minimum for what I would want to see in a wrestling ring. Never really got a chance to show off any mic skills or charisma as he was almost exclusively used to get over his tag partner's Festus gimmick."

[3.0] "My favorite memory of Jesse & Festus is that the theme song "Biscuits & Gravy" kind of made me laugh. I'm kind of surprised that WWE didn't try harder with Jesse, since he was the sun of a legend. The Jesse & Festus team didn't work because the gimmick is was so bad. A guy who goes crazy when he hears a bell? How do you competently book that? Well, they couldn't. Then the white boy with cornrows thing never even got off the ground."

[4.0] "Though it wasn't acknowledged during his WWE run, Jesse/Slam Master J/Ray Gordy was the son of Freebirds legend Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy, but had a very different in-ring presence than his all-time great brawler father, being much smaller and focusing more on a technical/high-flying style. That size and style might have held him back somewhat in the WWE environment, but he notably had a decent run in the company as the more talkative half of the tag team Jesse & Festus, which was a fun enough gimmick. After that ran its course, he tried a reinvention as "Slam Master J, " which didn't take off, and left wrestling following his release after 2010's WrestleMania."

[9.0] "Gordy was used absolutely horribly by the WWE. He is such a fantastic wrestler, who can do more than over half of the raoster today. His ability is amazing, ranging from his high flying wrestling, to his technical and suplex based wrestling. What a fantastic wrestler he was."
