Mustafa Ali

[6.0] "It absolutely amazes me that in 2026, I am rating Mustafa Ali a 6. What should be an easy, open & shut 8 or 9 is beyond-easily brought down to that 6 due to his terrible new Order 4 stable. This stable was rejected in WWE for good reason. Ali is completely impossible to take seriously as a kind of "politically-driven messianic egomaniac" character with all of the goofiness in the universe & none of the bite or character intention. His matches have become underwhelming, he nearly never exports at the rate he used to anymore, & this stable truly has just kneecapped his ring work & overall enjoyability in every imaginable way. If you were to have told me during his 205 Live days that this would be what he'd be doing later, I'd probably just sort of stare at the ground in a forlorn state for hours."

[10.0] "Great wrestler, great promo, great character work. Mustafa has a high ceiling and TNA needs to lock in. He has all the makings and TNA needs "The Guy". Him and Mike Santana should be the 2 biggest guys."

[9.0] "Ali is a fantastic wrestler - he can pull off high flying moves that make him suitable to be an X-Division Champion, but he's also capable of working long main event matches. His character work in TNA has been great too, he's a despicable heel with a political gimmick - and I'm sure he could play a good face as well."

[4.0] "Surprised to see so many people rate him highly. In my opinion, he is a very standard wrestler who doesn't do anything a thousand indie guys couldn't do. I know people were behind him a bit in WWE, but lets be real... he couldn't of been a main eventer. He just doesn't have that "it" factor about him and doesn't do anything special that stands out above the rest. Can't cut a promo and whenever WWE tried to make him more "serious" it just didn't work out, because he doesn't have that in him. Very average wrestler."

I recently watched him vs Speedball Mike Bailey (who is also a phenomenal wrestler) and they delivered like their careers were on the line or something. If it presents itself I would love for Mustafa to become TNA world champion. He's that good."

[10.0] "Mustafa Ali is one of the most underappreciated talents in wrestling. He brings crisp athleticism, innovative offense, and a strong underdog presence. His promos show depth and passion, especially when he's allowed creative freedom. We saw shades of this in WWE, but now in TNA his potential as both a high-flyer and a compelling character is undeniable."

As much of an exaggeration that sounds it's really a testament to how much he's been helping get TNA out of the mud. Obviously he's known to be a great high-flyer but I think people really overlook how good he is as a heel, and as an overall personality he's extremely underrated. He's got the full package and should be in the next to get their world title very soon."

[8.0] "Ali was a good high flyer who formed a connection with the crowd due to his impressive offense. He had charisma but would not stand out on the mic. Think the indies fits his style better so excited to see what he will do outside of WWE."

"Nothing special, surprised by his rating, he's trying his best and that's respectable but he doesn't stand out and lacks the "it" factor to be any kind of star in the business, a good hand at times is the best he could be rated. Maybe he's gotten much better and I haven't seen much of his recent work, but I doubt it."

[6.0] "Not very impressing. His moveset and the use he gives it are good, but he struggles outside the ring. Not very good mic, or even character work in general, topped off with an uninteresting presence."

[9.0] "With the conclusion of his run on TNA, I think it's safe to say that Mustafa Ali is a brilliant wrestler bell to bell, and an excellent storyteller, and a very fun character. He elevated TNA in the short 6 months he was there to the most popular they've been in years. Always had the best match on every PPV he was a part of, including Slammiversery where he put over Mike Bailey huge. Hope he joins AEW sooner or later as I think he can elevate ROH in a similar way if given the chance"

[6.0] "I have never seen anything in him. He brings nothing to the table for me personally and I think his post-WWE run has underlined my sentiment. Pretty sure he's a nice guy but he's just not the wrestler I want to watch because he doesn't entertain me in any way."

[8.0] "ever since he left wwe, he has been on fire. his matches have been amazing. I love his character too especially on TNA. He had security for his president persona in the Good Hands but then fired and replaced them with GYV and then the good hands are now essentially cult followers of him. its making him seem like a million bucks like he deserves to be shown and I love it. I cant wait to see what else he cooks up"

[8.0] "Never got his just due in WWE. He's back on the indies and bringing a lot of eyes to it. He's been having match after match that people have seeked out to watch. Now the TNA X-Division Champion rightfully so."

"Although Ali is a fantastic high flyer and performed, I m not yet convinced of his return to the indy scene. The scenary is good but I believe this will be forgotten at some point. I think he can be a major player in the indy if he focus on having great matches."

[9.0] "I remember that the first time i saw him (Hell in a Cell 2022, when i started watching WWE again after a few years long hiatus) i was instantly starstruck. TBH apart from the main event it's the only thing i remember of the PLE today. To this day i've kept waiting for a more than deserved push that never came. Great wrestler with amazing moveset and insane selling abilities. I hope he'll make his way through the indie scene, hopefully to a victorious comeback at WWE"

[9.0] "Very underrated wrestler sucks he left WWE, but I think he's gonna thrive outside of WWE. I can see him join New Japan and be a big part of the Junior Division. I'm really excited to see what he does next because he's very talented. WWE gonna regret getting rid of him."

[6.0] "He's not bad in the ring and is a good seller but i've never seen the part where he was going to become a future star. He's just very midcard with his look, matches and promos but is a solid hand."

[8.0] "It is beyond depressing seeing a talent like Ali go to waste in the wwe. It's like the only thing holding him back is his height which is not something he has any control over lol. Dude is still to this day one of the better in ring guys for them despite only being able to show it on main event. He's also able to cut good promos which you just don't look for out of guys like him. Having good guys around in the company is one thing but when they're as consistently good as Ali has been for years now its fucking pointless."

[5.0] "he was once a hot prospect but his stock has plummeted after the disastrous Retribution angle, he has the tools to reinvigorate his career however. But now in this weird storyline he has going with Ziggler it has to represent the nadir of his time in WWE. He spent 7 years here and hasn't won a single title when WWE hand them out like trinkets."

[8.0] "an extremely talented wrestler with great potential for a Mid Card, it's a shame WWE doesn't recognize him that way"

[6.0] "I think he is a solid wrestler but is vastly overrated by the fans due to his misuse and him wanting out of his contract. I agree that his situation is unfortunate but that doesn't make him a great wrestler or anything."

[7.0] "ALI is a fantastic high flyer and has a likable personality but he needs to be able to show himself off in a gauntlet or Iron man match because he can go but just needs a seth Rollins moment where he wins the fans over with a life changing performance"

[8.0] "A powerful technical wrestler. But not really well used. I won't give him a note at most because WWE always stops halfway with push for him and I really don't know what he can do. He got injured when he was about to feud for the WWE title and has been going poorly ever since. Storyline with "hacker"? - WWE has abandoned this project. RETRIBUTION? - better not to talk ... Now he returned to the TV for a moment, appeared several times and he is gone again. Definitely WWE doesn't know what to do with him."

[10.0] "Mustafa Ali is one of the most dynamic wrestlers currently going. He is a great high flier and a great technical wrestler. His promos are amazing. He managed to wrench out some semblance of sense from the dumpster fire that was RETRIBUTION, which is something I cannot commend him for enough. He has a great look, and would make a great edition to any wrestling company out there (assuming his release is eventually granted). By all accounts, he also seems to be an incredible person in real life. The only potential negatives I could see for him are the gimmicks that he has been given. The Message (the hacker) and RETRIBUTION were all dead on arrival, and unworthy of a wrestler the caliber of Ali. But I will never think that it is fair to judge a wrestler on their gimmick (unless they come up with it themselves, like Nikki A.S.H.), so I cannot, in good faith, drop points off for that. We can only hope that he is released by the WWE and given the opportunity to present his talents wherever he wants. Mustafa Ali is my baseline for a 10/10 wrestler."

[9.0] "Extremely underutilised wrestler that I believe is capable of much more than he is given. An excellent underdog with impressive mic skills. I wish he was given more of an opportunity to demonstrate his abilities, but feel confident in my rating based on his work on 205 Live."

[5.0] "Too small and hard to take seriously. He has passion but would be better with a comedy gimmick chasing the 24/7 championship."

[7.0] "Terribly misused in WWE, Ali is pretty strong in the ring and when given a chance, can put on a great match. He's not bad on the mic too, actually he's pretty good. Charismatic and strong promo's make Ali a quiet total package. He will be connected to the terrible Retribution unfortunately but he's so much better than that. He was a great part of 205 Live and his characters mostly have promise but WWE doesn't give him a proper chance."

[8.0] "Mustafa Ali is a very great junior heavyweight who really tried his best to make everything he does work. Whether it be Retribution, 205 Live, and his brief push, he has exceeded all placements for him. Besides this,"

[9.0] "How someone with the creative mindset and in-ring work never got to showcase all that at a large-scale platform like that of WWE is beyond me. To be fair, Vince does not deserve someone like Ali as they have shown with their treatment of people like Toni Storm, Keith Lee, Karrion Kross, and Samoa Joe."

[9.0] "A terribly underrated guy. Great on the mic and in wrestling. He's had a lot of bad luck in his career but he's always worked hard. Great respect for Ali, he deserves a lot."

[7.0] "Unlike a lot of guys his size, Ali does have charisma, and he has the ability to speak on the mic fairly well. I think WWE have really dropped the ball on him as despite his relative lack of size (in comparison to a Orton or whatnot) as he's a really solid in-ring talent in terms of agility and pulling off innovative stuff: he's not just doing the same shit everyone else does, he's finding really cool and unique stuff to pull out, which I always appreciate. He keeps getting semi-pushes and it's clear that management at least see the guy as a interesting project, if not more had bad luck not fucked him over multiple times, to being injured before his Daniel Bryan push to having his big heel turn and faction perform in front of no crowds...with said faction being pretty bad in the first place. Ali at the very least is a very solid TV worker (as in, he can work a 10 minute match and make it very entertaining) and I could easily see him holding the US or Intercontinental title belts for a good run, he just needs a fresh gimmick and actual, you know, wins. Hopefully his luck turns around sooner rather than later."

[7.0] "I really like his wrestling quality, but he lacks something very important in pro-wrestling and that is that he is quite flat, so he never draws attention to his characters."

[6.0] "Mustapha Ali is a decent talent. I was impressed with him in the Cruiserweight classic. He puts on good matches. Retribution was ultimately a failure. I think having no crowd to play off hurt them. I feel like him playing a heel comes out as forced sometimes, he's naturally a babyface, Ok talker."

[7.0] "Ali is a great High Flyer and he had a great step by 205 Live, but I think he still lacks some technique and some microphone in addition to the bad bookeo that he has had for the last years only worsens his character and credibility."

[9.0] "I know I'm not the only one when I say this but I think that Mustafa might actually be the most underrated talent in WWE right now. The man is a phenomenal high flyer, but he's also proven time after time that he's a really good promo, both as a babyface and as a heel. This guy is something special."

[9.0] "Mustafa Ali is an amazing high flyer and a great seller. He constantly proves his mic skills are some of the best at WWE but they never seem to take the chance on him. The impression I get of him outside the ring only confirms what I believe, and that is that he would be a great role model and champion for any promotion."

[8.0] "One of the good wrestlers Vince is ruining. Both his performance and promo are excellent. Just by looking at his promo on January 4th at the Raw Talk, he'll be a star again in no time if he makes any good use of him."

[7.0] "He's a great in-ring worker but was never someone who caught my eye and used to be just stale in my eyes. In his storyline with RETRIBUTION isn't as great as it was hyped to be. Everyone knew he was the mystery hacker no matter how much everyone wanted it to be CM Punk. Every week RETRIBUTION gets beat up and Ali being the leader was a bad move considering the fact that Dominik Dijakovic would have been better since he was the bigger and stronger person but Ali is decent at cutting promos and his in-ring work is really good."

[9.0] "Forget his tremendous in-ring abilities or his cool moves, this dude is simply the best promo in all of the WWE."

[5.0] "Don't enjoy his work at all. Not sure if he even has any character. His matches are very samey and it feels like he has gone stale already. He's had a couple of little pushes that were never explained and as a result his matches mean nothing, they are part of no story and seeing the same three flippy shit moves every match is not exciting. I don't like him and really cannot find a reason why he has any scores of 8 or above."

[7.0] "He has a lot of potential to become a great babyface in near future. From his own little creative efforts in recent times he seems like the biggest role-model currently compared to the generic one-dimensional cheap pop faces. He is a great wrestler and on top of that he's a very good seller. In the ring he's sometimes limited. His super-hero persona when he enters the stage kills off everything of what makes him a great face. But I still see a lot of potential for Ali. One of the most consistent wrestlers who's getting better and better."

[7.0] "To people talking about Ali having future champion potential, I just don't see it. I think he's good in the ring, but he seems a little lacking in the character department to ever be anything more than a midcarder. I think he still has time to find a more intriguing character, but for now with the "Soul of WWE" thing that he's doing... it just isn't next level material. I also don't like that they took Mustafa from him."

[8.0] "His matches are always great encounters. Great manouvers , good selling and a great ability in psicology (something that isn? t usual in cruiserweights). I loved his last matches with hideo (very innovative and spectacular falls count anywhere) and his match with tony neese.. his way to win , his ability in that match to make Tony looks great ... only thing(important thing in sport entertainment) in my opinion he has luck of personality: his gimmick is not so great he has something of ? generic ? a thing that I see in many 205 live competitors (also Cedrick Alexander is loved for his ability but his persona isn? t so good) ... every baby-face in 205 live is too much generic (only Brian Kendrick now has a bit of starpower)... heels are great. Baby face not so much in my point of view..."

[9.0] "My tied favourite on 205 live, Mustafa Ali is a phenomenal wrestler. He's great in the ring, great on the mic, cuts great promos and is just generally a really likable face. It actually scares me that on the indies he was booked as a heel just because he's Muslim."

[8.0] "2016 has been the year of Ali. He has used the CWC exposure to show off his high flying grace, intensity and charisma. Great mid carder for the big leagues and good indy headliner."
