[1.0] "Malakai Gage is a walking, talking, over-the-top horror movie cliché wrapped in layers of forced edginess. Endless monologues about chopping people up or spitting on graves, everything about him screams try-hard. The problem isn't just that he's playing a horror villain--it's that he's playing a bad horror villain. He doesn't have the genuine menace of an Undertaker or the unsettling aura of a Mankind; instead, he feels like a community theater version of a supernatural monster. The melodramatic promos make him come off as more of a parody than a serious threat. If he toned down the forced "evil" persona and embraced a more natural intensity, he might have something. But as it stands, he's more laughable than frightening--like a Halloween store mannequin brought to life and trying way too hard to be scary."
