He made his name in UWFi and formed the Golden Cups stable with Yoji Anjo and Yoshihiro Takayama. He would later wrestle for Sakuraba's KINGDOM promotion and Akira Maeda's RINGS Fighting Network. He eventually became the Middleweight Tournament champion at UFC 23, confirming his status as one of the best grapplers and shooters to come out of professional wrestling."
